Honestly Paul, I have learned more in the almost 2 weeks I have been subscribed to your channel, than most other artists put together in over a year, you somehow make things simple, and easy to understand with all your processes regarding watercolor techniques, thanks again, and can’t wait to see what your next videos bring 😎👍🎨
You can tell Paul is a natural teacher. I’m learning so much from these videos, and even when not actively listening, I just enjoy hearing these on in the background for ambience. What a great teacher!
You are the sweetest artist I know. I have painted for one year and then I stopped for two years because I was sick but now, I have started again and I can’t get tire of watching your videos but most of all, you are very generous of your talent and not scared of sharing it with us. I like the human being that you are. Sincerely 😊🙏
I recognized your still life fruit painting because I have your (excellent) book! I didn't know you were the author. I've learned many good things from you, Mr. Clark!
Thanks much Mr. Clark. I'm binge watching you this week!... as I await supplies on a slow boat from the UK. In this one I particularly liked the idea of separately timed lifts to give gradient highlights.
Once more, thank a lot for the simplicity of your explanation. Now, we just have to ... try. If your main skill is watercolour painting, the second one is your way of teaching.
Like so many of your tutorials, I watch this one again and again. Each time I watch it, I'm at a different stage of my learning, and I pick up something new. Thank you Paul.
I love trees with no leaves. It shows the true character of the tree. I really enjoy your painting. You make it look so easy. When I lift, it does not come out as white as yours does. It is still wet, but I have to go over it several times when lifting. Perhaps because of the stain some paints leave. I have to keep practicing, I guess.
Hi Delores - different paint/paper combinations will work in different was. I also have to lift out several times to get the nice white - so thats quite normal!
I’m so grateful for your sharing spirit. Thanks for giving your years-of-experience tips to fairly new painters, such as me. Could you do a tutorial on paintings with glass objects such as vases or bottles or whatever. I’ve always been fascinated with light through glass. Thank you.
I discovered you about a week ago and have learned so much! I have ordered your book. As others are commenting, you teaching is so understandable and simplified. And I am very inspired to try to create paintings that in the past I thought were beyond me. You have asked for questions for future videos. This is not necessarily that, but I am going to throw it out because I am so stymied by this problem. I have been asked to paint a 100 year old farm house. My problem is that the siding is scalloped. It is very much a part of the beauty of the house but I can't figure out how to do it in the painting without minute measuring and drawing each tiny scalloped edge. I have watched every video on creating texture and painting old houses, barns, etc (which is how I found you!). So, today I will set that house aside and do an apple and a tree!
Hi Larry and Jan - many thanks for your kind words and chuffed you've ordered my book!!! - if you want to email me the pic of the farm house I'll have a look and see what I can suggest - artbypaulclark@gmail.com.
Wow, your videos are awesome. I will watch over and over and certainly recommend my watercolor friends find you also! I am so excited to try your method! Thank you so much
I found you recently and love your work. I’ve been painting and teaching painting for years, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get to your level. You’re inspirational! Thank you!
Thank you Paul, I am so happy to have found your channel. In just a couple of days I have been able to improve my technique. I still have a long way to go, but you have helped to demystify it for me.
I use mixed media with mainly watercolors. While I have left area white, lifted and scraped and even used white gouache in touches, I haven't thought of using white pastels - and I have lots as I like to do large landscapes with chalk pastel. Next time I need a subtle highlight I will give it a go. Thanks Paul. Love your videos, your skill and your friendly attitude.
Paul, thank you for sharing your tips and techniques to create highlights and for the demonstration. Adding these highlights can really add dimension to your paintings.
Love, love, love, watching you paint! You make it look so easy. I'm all excited now to go to my studio and practice your techniques. Thank you for doing these videos! God bless you!
@@ArtbyPaulClark One more thing....Do you possibly have a "reminder" list of techniques. There are so many things to remember and my memory (I'm 76) is a little questionable! :-)
This was so entertaining but useful. I can add some dimensions to my V’s now. I really liked your close up birds and the ending of the paintings was very impressive! Thanks as always, learning so much. 🦅
Great tips, I shy away from landscapes as I am not confident enough to paint trees or skies and buildings ect. I might try to after seeing this. Thank you
Great tutorial....I've noticed that some papers don't lift out as well as others and also you should mention that some paints are quite staining and will not lift out as well....maybe a video on this would be helpful for beginners.
You have really inspired me to get back to watercolours, Paul. I haven't tried for 25 years and have taken your advice and set up a small corner to work in. I have a lovely picture of my garden pond that is quite close up that I am unsure how to begin. Do you have any examples of closer subjects?
Hello Mr. Clark! The video was superb👌...as usual! I have found that painting white using watercolor, or in fact Not painting the paper to look white, is not easy at all ! Specially white flowers.... So, will you please upload a video on how to paint some white flowers using those awesome techniques of yours?
I recently discovered your videos and am so happy I did! You used a white pencil to make highlights on the apple, what exactly is this product? Thank you.
Welcome Josey!! - They are pastel pencils - if you have a look at the end of my Halloween video I go into a bit more detail - link: ruclips.net/video/lCPF43vCbLM/видео.html
