Joe Louis not only had punching power in his left in his right he put together combinations and every one of the main intentions when Louis got your hurt it was relentless and finishing off, in a fight with a contender by the name of Retzlaff Louis knocked him out with a left jab. in my opinion the greatest heavyweight champ of all time

Louis could certainly take a punch. In 71 fights he was knocked out exactly twice, the 2nd time in his last fight. He was knocked down 6 times and each time he came back to win the fight. He was likely the greatest heavyweight champion of all time.

They say Joe could not take a punch? Look at the way he came back after at huge right hand.!!!

Of course Joe Louis can take a punch, they're probably saying that he can throw a punch, way better than he can take one.

How can Joe Louis not be everyones favorite champ? A guy who had one purpose in the ring; to knock you the fuck out. And so he did, in most cases, one way or another. I wish I had the power of Joe in his prime.

Tami had 60 knockouts. For a brief moment it seemed he had Louis, but Joe was just too much for him.

The only other heavyweight champs who hit as hard as Louis were George Foreman and Mike Tyson. Just ask Joe Frazier and Ken Norton what it feels like to get knocked out by big George. And ask Larry Holmes about being knocked out by Tyson.

Ali said Marciano was the best he'd ever seen. And ge seen foreman up close and personal. He probably seen Marciano when he was young but no doubt seen him in person none the less.

@@MikeSmith-cn6ubAli didn't say Marciano was the hardest puncher he had ever seen. He thought Shavers was the hardest puncher.
