Read instructions on the paint cans, rendered walls are prepared and undercoated.,
Remember that painting is 80% prep/20% painting. Your videos are awesome as is, don't change anything, I think we come back each time for the authenticity.
And that old paint was a different 'recipe' which is why it is so much work, but I am impressed by how much you have done in scraping.

Your videos ARE perfectly perfect. I'm so glad you're documenting your life for us to enjoy. When you feel less than, you will have video evidence of what a superb person you are. Your abilities astound me. I love this glimpse into your life. Don't worry about it being "amazing", we love your everyday amazing life as you live it.
After scraping, those bathroom walls could use a light sanding and then an oil base primer made for regular paint. I've lived in a house that was built in 1898 and did most of the preparation work on the walls myself. Not easy or quick, but if you do it right it will last a long time.
i was going to recommend sanding. and yes, that older paint may not take a latex well. needs a good primer

I too lived in a 300 year old house as we were renovating. We had to scrap and paint everything. We made some interesting discoverys under what was there. Keep your eyes open, it is fun.
@@biddiemutter3481 I agree. Please think about putting dust masks on your wish list. I'm very concerned on a previous video when your Mom and Alfred were all white in the face breathing all that fine dust. Also painter's overalls or coveralls so you and your family save your good clothes.
No oil-based paint on walls in central Europe, that's asking for trouble. Especially in a farm house with most likely dubious damp-proofing. I'd use mineral paint, it's breathable, easy to use and should work fairly well.

I personally love all the little Tid-Bits of videos, the "Hi, this is what I'm doing, bye" clips. I really enjoyed seeing Ozzie and your dad talking on video. We want to see bits of what they are each doing...Ozzie chopping firewood, and painting his miniatures, Dad, and Alfred fixing the door etc.I find it incredibly peaceful watching you cook. You just have a calmness about you. Please never change what you are showing us, or how you are showing us, we love it all.

The paint would not peel if you used oil paint. Latex and oil don’t mix, that is why it peeled.

Yep kittens are still here but they are pooping not in the litter box but everywhere else. Because especially in the big room, it's dirt on the floor at the moment, so the cats think that nest for there poop. And yeah it's not easy and mums considering having them move outside somewere, we'd still feed them ofcorse!!!! 💕💕💕Hope your doing fabulous
@@handcraftedhomestead255 try locking them in a room for a bit with the litter box, place some old poop in it and put them in it several times a day to sniff it and hopefully they’ll get the idea.
@@handcraftedhomestead255 If the cats have a place where they can go in for shelter and varm , they can fine be out site, and they catch mice and you feed them also, it would be fine. Then just spay or neuter them when they get older, so you do not end up with double so many cats' yikes hehe 🤩 if you prefer the cats indoors then what Lisa Trahan said above would be so fine to do.

I have truly, never seen ANYONE eat the quantity of oatmeal you do! That's such a good , healthy thing to do!,I hope you never tire of it! Most young people eat boxed cereals that are 50% sugar!

This is great footage. Setbacks will happen when renovating. Just a suggestion but maybe let the camera run while your Dad and Alfred are doing things, or what your Mom is doing. It may seem boring or not exciting as you think your viewers would like but these kinds of contents are so good to see because it gives us perspective of what you are going through.
For example painting and having to stop to scrape off the old paint. I love that you included that. Please let us know how long it took you to scrape off the entire bathroom walls. You and your family are doing such an amazing job at renovating your house and putting your stamp in it to make it a home. It's also really fun to see Ozzie painting his wooden people from the previous videos.
Remember that your original goal is to document your family renovating your house - don't lose sight of that. The viewers are here to see what the goings on are of your renovation - when you go to the store, down time (like when you take breaks from renovating, snowball fights - so much fun to see all of you having a good time, etc.), the changing seasons and how it affects your renovation, delays such as finding a new plumber or the unexpected like the kittens. When the house is finally done, I hope the videos will remind your family of all the hard work, what it was like before (so don't forget to take videos and photos of before and after shots), remembering the fun and excitement, the frustrations, and the satisfaction of seeing the finished product however long it takes you. And along the way you shared it with us (your viewers)!🥰

That s why everyone loves your videos. I do hope the plumber fixes up everything for you all, it will feel wonderful to have a shower, hot water, and a kitchen sink with running water. I always think of you washing up, and having to heat the water first etc. I know what it s like, we did up our house in France ourselves, and I can remember sitting in bed, and I could see through to the other side of the house, as we had taken most of the inside walls out to re build them! Piles of rubble where the bathroom used to be! But then it makes you really appreciate hot, running water.

Don't stress. We just enjoy watching the simple things. There is a young couple I watch on RUclips also. They actually live somewhere in my area. But watching them as they started out from pre-beginning living of grid, building their own place, and now two babies in tow.

This was rather satisfying and curiously interesting to see a family pulling together on a home project. The Penetration coat appeared to be a moisture sealant. Usually takes two to three coats to be effective since it is water based, also placed upon a pre-existing paint coat it will cause the colored paint to peel. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

I agree with Toni Leigh. Keep doing what your doing. I’m amazed at you a 16 y/o that has the knowledge that you do on cooking and whatever you do to help your parents. They have done you and your brothers a huge favor in the way they raised you. Learning from those that have been there, done that is one of the best lessons learned. Your videos are interesting, we love seeing your family work together on this project. I see someone addressed the old paint being a different type, oil or water based. I can never remember but think it's latex over oil peels. I'm more concerned that the old paint might be lead paint although that is a more contemporary color. The mask for any type dust protects your lungs. When you were in the old chicken house, I should have said something.
A lot of prepping walls first, otherwise the paint will peel off with steam.. scrape, sand, primer paint then paint.... it will last a long time then, they say if you do the job the right way the first time it will work out.. Happy prepping Karolina 😂😂👍

We’re renovating our home slowly. It’s a long tedious process. I felt your frustration at those walls. I’m so sorry. I would probably have cried 😭, and then had a good frustrated laugh, because what can you do? You’re doing a great job helping.
I was having a super hard day looking after my very sick mother and i needed a break. I fired up the laptop and made myself a cup of tea and then saw you had posted a new vlog - super excited! I know you keep thinking that your vlogs are not great but they are and i always smile, laugh and feel uplifted by them. Thank you for making my hard day a whole lot better. I have a smile on my face, i feel calm and relaxed and that is what you bring to us all when we watch you and your family rennovate, cook, play and laugh. The animals are a bonus. So in my humble opinion you are doing an amazing thing with your vlogs and i hope that you continue. Paint the wall with a PVA solution before painting them that will help with your peeling problem and it’s low cost well done with the vlog

My precious Mama went home to Heaven to be with Jesus, just a few months ago. She was almost 97. Your mama reminds me of her in that she just does what needs to be done to care for her family. Great video. I wonder if the peeling issues you are having with the paint could be due to painting a latex over oil based paint? Turns out it can be done, but there is a special step you have to take in preparing the surface. There are additives that can bond the two, at least on wood surfaces (I learned this the hard way flipping an old hutch years ago). I think there can be a similar issue trying to paint with latex on plaster. So fun to see things coming together for you and your family.
