    My thoughts On the K12.2 Compared to the K12
    The Headroom on the K12.2, was Amazing, I couldn't get them to distort. Mids & Highs were really clean & clear. Never felt them get harsh on the ears. The Mix never sounded Muddy

    I think if you are in the market for new speakers then the K12.2's are the way to go. For those who own the original, the "upgrade" isn't really worth it. I did a comparison between the two and ended up sticking with my original K12's. I find the new K12.2's have a mid range that I don't love, they also have a bit more background hiss. However, the one area they beat the originals is when they are driven hard. The originals tend to get harsh sounding. I am talking ear piercing volumes though.

    K12.2 seems to be lacking in the MIDS and low end from my demo. Really nice high end though campared to the K12 Legacy. Thoughts?

    I love the k12 precisely because of the quality bass sound it gives us when the deep mode is activated. I would like to know if there is any preset on the k12.2 that mimics the deep of the k12. I really miss it serious.

    • @djcaveman9973

      yes, on the k12.2 you put it on "No Sub" ,And you get all the deep bass, like the Deep mode on the K12

    Does the K.2 series provide the same bass if set correctly as the originals in deep mode? Interested in buying one but looking for a small speaker with great bass response. Sound quality or volume isn't super important for this purchase.

    Nice review brother, thanks. I'm a mobile DJ and just got a pair of the K12.2s. I've used them at 2 gigs so far and the first was an indoor venue for about 150 people and they seemed to perform perfectly. The second was outdoors and the speakers were set up in such a way that I could actually see the rear control panel of one of the speakers. Once I turned up the volume to dance level, I noticed after a while that the limiter indicator was lit, in some instances intermittently and then others, it was solid on. I kept turning down the volume or the bass to get it to turn off but I thought these speakers still had much more headroom to go. Have you had this happen to you? By the way, I can't say for sure if the limiter was going off at the first gig since the speakers were set further apart and I wasn't able to monitor them the entire time. The few times I did go over to look, I never noticed the limiter light going on.

    • @DenisDamulira23
      @DenisDamulira23 7 лет назад +4

      outside = loss of sound i.e no walls to bounce the sound around...you need a sub so the tops can have more headroom or use 15" tops...even indoors for 150pple i'd use at least one 15 or 18" sub with K12,10 or 8's

    Dj Caveman, I'd like to ask for a little help. As others have mentioned, it would be nice to know how the 12.2s differ with the low end cut out. I just bought the K12s with a KW181 3 weeks ago. I knew the 12.2s were getting ready to be released, but I have 2 different buddies that have the same set so they can be paired (or tripled) together for larger gigs. We're not DJs. We use them for live performance and will always use a sub with them. I know the 12.2s will handle low frequencies better but I haven't seen a good review with the subs engaged (and lows removed from the speaker)
    I'm within my return window and can trade up to the K12.2s for pretty much free. If I trade up to the 12.2s, then I can no longer couple them with my buddies' systems, but I would get a potential dB boost from just 1 set of 12.2s and a sub. I will mainly use my (single) setup for my band for 80% of my gigs. It's only large outdoor gigs where I'd want multiple systems. I also realize the 1000W vs 2000W is mostly marketing hype (The 12s are 1000W continuous, 2000W peak and the 12.2s are 2000W peak), but the horn and driver have been redesigned and the power ratio is different.
    So, do you have any perspective on whether the "upgrade" is worth it if you're cutting the lows? Does it outweigh the ability to be able to couple them together? I loved that you put a meter on them and would be interested to know if it's really still a 5dB difference if the lows are removed.

    • @djcaveman9973
      @djcaveman9973  7 лет назад +1

      Sorry For The Late Response. Honestly If your Cutting Lows from the cross over they are pretty Similar, Its with the low end frequencies engaged where the k12.2 is night and day over the k12

    Nice review thankyou. I am into a 3way 15"s for trance techno dance. I wonder if QSC will be updating there KW 15 3 way??? But my research suggests 2 8" K.2 & a killer Sub would be the best for long air cutting sound.

      Putting the CrossOver On "No Sub" will Give you that Deep Similar to the first gen, Then you have the option of Choosing a Preset to More fine tune your sound. Ex. Live or Dance modes

    Forgot to note there is a 1000 watt difference between the 2. K12 are rated at 1000 watts and
    K12.2 are rated at 2000 watts. This could also have some affect on you db testing. Great speakers none the less and thank you for the video.

      I've been using QSC for about 10 years now. Still have my heavy HPRs, but rocking mostly with the KW stuff the last few. I do have a pair of K8s that I use on smaller gigs, and they have always got the job done, especially for the smaller house parties and boat cruises. Not a big fan of ditching the RCAs, but I guess more and more devices are using the mini jacks so they had to keep it current.

    • @djcaveman9973
      @djcaveman9973  7 лет назад +2

      TBA DJs TBA DJs yes the K8's are amazing. I use them a lot as well. And I definitely don't like the 1/8 jack over the rcas, but like you said, it's just getting with the times.

    Thought I would just let you know that ex sub is a setting you use when you have a sub hooked up and you want to send all low end frequencies to the sub and not to the tops. Full range is the normal or default setting. Other than that it should never be used really. FYI. Just a suggestion on future sound quality comparisons; use pop/hiphop music to showcase the sound. Theres a wider range of highs, mid vocal, and lows. Just bought a pair today and they perform great with less distortion at peak levels especially in the low range. Take care.

    • @djcaveman9973
      @djcaveman9973  7 лет назад +1

      Yes i know what Ext. sub is, I stated that in the video. Maybe you misundestood. And as far as the song your 100% right could have use a nice pop song, but I just went with a kendrick song, since its one of the hottest track out. Thank you for you input over all :D

      the original K12 ext.sub mode cuts off at 100hz, so you'd be better setting the K12.2 at 100hz for the crossover to get a more accurate comparison.

    Why did you set the K12 to external sub if you weren't running subs.

    • @tkointernational
      @tkointernational 5 лет назад

      Daniel Roos that sends the low frequencies to the external sub, and you'll hear the mid and high frequencies coming out of the top speakers.

    You should have been plugged into Gain B, not A. Gain A is generally used for a mic without a mixer. Every video I have seen so far, they plugged into B. Thanks for the review & sound check, brother ;-)

  • @djlobb
    @djlobb 7 лет назад +1

    The menu system is atrocious, especially considering how easy their mixers are to use and change parameters.
    Want to change HF or HPF/Deep mode on the K12, just a flip of a switch. K.2, just wait a sec, gotta scroll though menu items like an old iPod.
