To pimp a butterfly means the most to me. I can’t say I relate to it on a deep level, as me and Kendricks lives are very different. But, its that difference between us that makes the relatability of that album so special to me. Despite the fact that i didn’t struggle to the same degree that Kendrick did, and despite the fact that I was given all these advantages at birth that he wasn’t given, I can still see the same struggles of identity, guilt, depression, and giving in to evil in myself. These are of course general problems that a wide array of people have and the album is obviously not speaking to me and is not made for me. That said, its beauty and transcendental commentary on the inevitable struggles of existence and ego ring loudly in the ears of those listening for truth. TLDR: To pimp a butterfly, because it’s unique but portrays something universally true.
