Yes, gardens are built over time. I've been working on mine for 35 years and it was a 25 year overgrown mess when I started. My fall plans are to divide a lot of perennials, redo my containers, move some shrubs to different parts of the garden, and fall maintenance.
WOW your seedling plants are amazing! Way to go! You made me envious and shamed for being a long time pseudo experienced gardener who has never had your degree of success with seeds. Actually, just listening to all your future plans made me tired😅. We're having cooler temps here in 9b Houston near the coast. We've had nicely behaved rains come through and overcast days but my brain hasn't come out of it's burnout mode just yet. Think I need a bona-fide cool front that drives out the humidity to reset my brain and body. In the meantime, watching your videos is inspiring me to think what I'd like to do, to move around, to give up on, and to swear I won't continually try to plant and keep alive, so thanks again!
Sunday Afternoon ~catching up on your gardens (plans) for the end of year. My Gardener is coming in the morning to help with mulching. I am will be moving my Princess Alexander Rose since I will have help. You always motivate me to do whatever I can to make my garden be better year over year. My gardens are only 3 yrs old but they are very large and overwhelming especially since going back to work full-time. Thanks for All You do for each of our gardens in Zone 8B… Jim P would be proud of you,😊❤🎉
So appreciate the reminder that beautiful gardens are built over time. I am rebuilding an overgrown garden. It has taken me 2 solid years just to get major areas semi-controlles and on a maintenance schedule. And there's still more to tackle. The garden that lives in my head is just starting to peak out! This was a great reminder not to get down about my lack of "pretty."
I've been working on my front shade garden for 20years and back sun garden for 3 years and both are always a work in progress, love your channel, alot of great information
Good morning Amanda! I can’t believe it’s nearly Labor Day! It’s been a very hot summer at the shore here in Jersey-real feel of the 100’s many days Anyway I luv ya girl! ❤
Rain, wow! We have not had rain in 4 weeks here on the southeastern NC coast. It’s been hot and HUMID! I break into a sweat walking to the mailbox. Rain would be so wonderful for my sandy yard.
So excited for fall! It's my favorite 🧡🧡 My plan it to take advantage of the cooler weather to expand some of my beds and get some perennials and trees planted. Looking forward to following along with you and getting inspired as always!
Loved hearing your plans and the excitement you shared with us. The flowers are beautiful. Like you stated the foundation is probably the most important to making what you plant survive. Ive had beautiful trees die and about 30 mature Indian Hawthorns die when we had the hard freeze a few years ago. Which I haven’t replaced with anything. Kinda takes the wind out of your sails. Looking forward to seeing your videos. And especially the Halloween 🎃 experience. 🥳
Amanda you are so right about gardening being a journey. It’s takes time and the expense can be significant. I have learned from another gardener that propagating from plants you have purchased is definitely the way to add to your garden. I have 2 lime light prime that I purchased and now I have 4. It’s such a rewarding experience. My goals will be to expand 2 beds to be able to plant an olive and camycyprus? These both have been in pots too long. I’m zone 8a NC. Thanks
Your plans sound amazing. I can't wait to see the progress. This is my first garden at this house, and like you, there is NOTHING. No trees or shrubs. That's my plan this fall, which is shrubs and trees. I did make the beds this year and I hand-pulled the Bermuda first about 4 inches down because it was soooo bad. I can't wait for your vids. I'm in 9B Florida
My fall plans include mulching, a constant task to reduce weeds. Planting dwarf conifers and other evergreens will help reduce maintenance too. Late summer gardening always reminds me that it’s important to reduce gardening workload. I want time to smell my beautiful David Austin roses. Like many Southern gardeners, I am weary of hard work in the heat.
Hi from Cedar Hill 👋🏼 I love hearing about all of your plans. And in particular your plans for your container garden area. That’s what I’m currently working out (because I don’t plan on planting in-ground at our current location). Can’t wait to see what you end up doing. 🙌🏼☀️🪴
Fall goals: Remove stringy sedum that only looks good in spring. Move spirea that is too big for front entrance. Install pop-up emitter for unsightly downspout drain extender near back door. Your Halloween decor style sounds like mine. Looking forward to seeing it.
Wasn’t that rain nice and cool? WOW, those coleus!! I need to get mine outside when it cools off just a little. Can’t wait to see the lattice stained and with the crystals. It’s interesting to see where you started and where you are now. I wish I had taken more photos as I went at long these last 4 years. Maybe I would feel I have accomplished more. 😁 SOOO much to do before winter.
Halloween is my favorite holiday! I love decorating for it. I never get any kids, though. I think they’re too lazy to walk up the small hill to my drive 😂
I am 47 and I have always done basic beautifying in pots but this spring is the first time for flower beds and raised beds. I am still learning what my yard will grow. I really don’t have full 6 hour sun areas but I’m not overly shady either so it’s tricky. But since it’s so hot and humid in Louisiana so far my sun stuff like zinnias are doing well. Right now I’m trying to figure out what’s eating my canna leaves and gumphrena.
Love that you got rain!! The "before " pictures were awesome. I agree that the French drain hurt the willow. They prefer wet roots and wet soil. Your idea of honeysuckle on the lattice of shade garden is great, but will eventually overcome and hide the crystals. Morning glories would do the same. Both are fast growing. Maybe consider not doing the crystals on lattice but design something in another area like the new arch, near the willow side of yard. Somewhere, that would catch sun to make beautiful designs on house or yard. Just some thoughts. Can't wait to see Halloween projects. I like creepy and scary designs. I think it is funny - you like witchy and Elisa likes cutsey. Both are so different, even your handwriting! ⚾️
Your coleus are like 4 times as big as mine. Mine have been sooo slow to grow. I am in the process of hardening off my seedlings (kept it simple, marigolds, petunias and coleus). I have really enjoyed the growing process but I am Def ready for them to be outside. Lol
❤❤❤❤❤

Those are good plans!
Talking about your Halloween plans makes you glow happiness 😊
I love this time of year 🎃
Rain is always an unexpected treat in Texas!
It really is!
The whole project sounds amazing! Taking my time helps me realize what I want to change or add. Can't wait!
You and me both!
The surprise rain made my day!
I can’t wait to see all of this progression in your garden

Nah, I have no doubt you run circles around me regarding other garden knowledge! And I love your description of nicely behaved rains!
I always look forward to your Halloween porch decorating videos :)
Yay! Thank you!

I want your grow lights! Those plants are beautiful and huge!!!!
Thanks!
I really enjoy it when you share your garden strategy and your growth as a gardener. 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
I feel like I just had a mini history lesson in garden building. So cool. 😁 Thank you. 👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m loving your plans for your back garden, good idea to do it bit by it. You’ve done so much looking at your before photos, just amazing. 😊
Thanks so much 😊

You got this 💪💪💪
I have a friend that whenever she gives a plant away she includes a silk flower! It is always a treat!
Love that!
Pretty dress. Love fall/Halloween decorating! Looking forward to cooler weather and spending more time in the garden 😊❤
Thank you! 😊

It was such a relief!
Oh and you had me at hanging crystals. That sounds magical!
Thanks!

Sounds great! Expanded beds will be fun to plant!
Really enjoyed your chat I love the plans you have for your garden 😊🦋

It’s tough when a fixture in the garden dies.
Hi, nice video. Those coleus that you grew are so beautiful! Love listening and learning.
Thanks so much 😊
Oh, and the coleus is gorgeous!
Thanks!

Propagating is a great way to expand your garden!
I'm excited to see what you are planning for Halloween! I wasn't around last year. I might have to go back and watch some of your videos!
Please do!
🎃🎃🎃 We got rain yesterday also.... So happy!!!🌹
That's great!
😊 Thank you!
You’re welcome 😊
Can’t wait to see your Halloween porch!
I’m so excited!
Looking forward to your fall front porch!
Posting soon!

Awesome! Thank you!
Congratulations on getting rain. Here in Lewisville we are sooo dry. We haven’t seen rain for a long long time!
Oh wow! Hope you get some soon!
You are the Halloween Queen! My fall plans include moving plants. I feel like half of what I’ve planted is in the wrong spot.
Can’t wait for Halloween!
Fall goals: Remove stringy sedum that only looks good in spring. Move spirea that is too big for front entrance. Install pop-up emitter for unsightly downspout drain extender near back door.

Those are all great garden tasks!
The tag! Haaa😂 I've done that out! Toy look really nice!
Right?! 😂

😂😂😂 I’d walk a mile for free candy!
So looking to a little fall and some football!🍁🍂🏈

Yeah I’m hoping using the water schedule on my Willow will help it out.

Ahh, you are so lucky to have gotten rain! S Arlington got none!
It was very nice!
Hi Amanda, I’m in Zone 6 North Jersey. Great idea to start seedlings for fall, a project needed indoors during overly humid stifling days here. Thanks
You’re welcome!

I am planting three containers and new Zinas.
Sounds great!

I notice you didn't do any summer porch decoration.
I skipped it this year … I had a plant and some cute decor but just couldn’t bring myself to get it done in the heat.
