I haven't had the ragged problem with the ProCision trimmer.... I got it this weekend and I love it. I have tried several different trimmers over the years and I love how smooth this one is. Thanks for sharing the tips!

Thanks for mentioning the Rotatrim! I hadn't heard of them before, but I was so desperate for a good paper trimmer for my current project I ordered it from Amazon and got it yesterday. Worth every penny. I'm so happy with it. I could have saved a lot of money if I'd bought it first. Great tools are a beautiful thing.

Something I learned in photography school where we had to use rotary trimmers alllll the time is that cutting is a two step process. Always pull down then immediately push back up before releasing the paper. Even with the Rotatrim where cutting perfectly is bi-directional, that is the way we were taught to cut even though pushing feels more natural.

Good advice! I agree, it is a great trimmer. I've been using mine for a few years now and I am very happy with it. I don't have the shabby edge problem with mine. However the line up to 6" is always been a problem...good advice there!!

Thanks for sharing this information. I'm new to the paper crafting scene, and I recently bought a We R Memory Keepers paper trimmer, and I don't think it's for sturdier card stock or heavy paper. I've had to replace the sliding blade once already, and I've not had it that long. Good info! Thanks again!

Thank you for the video and tips. I am reasonably new to paper crafting and the biggest thing that I have a problem with, is the darn paper trimmers. I have gone through tons of paper trying to figure out just exactly where to line it up to get the exact measurements. It is very frustrating. It sure takes a lot of practice to get it all figured out.

is the under edge when cutting a photo print ragged or in a very mini mini millimetre way the paper from underside has a score? Fiscars should have corrected the 6inch mark as you mentioned and the reverse direction cutting issues. Thanks for the video making us aware before getting it. (However had just made order. Fingers crossed)

Thanks for the 6 inch white line explanation. A question: If I cut a 8 inch paper, and measure suppose it cuts ABCD rectangle with AC being left side, will distance between A and C will be same as C and D even if I cut large size paper? I always find there is 1/24 or more difference in size and thus not accurate? Can you check this? It can help me with buying decision. Thanks.

Hmmm! We newbies want so much to get us crafting and I saw a small Fiskars cutter at Staples but didn't purchase it. Don't think I can afford the price of this one but it's nice to know it's a good product. Thanks for demonstrating it. Sandra in Canada

Phew! $115 is a tad out of my price range.....in fact a lot out of my price range, lol. I might have a look at some of the other Fiskars Trimmers. They seem to have a really good reputation where cutters are concerned. Though Im starting to think I NEED this one as I use so much chipboard in book making and altered projects. Hmmm, me thinks I will have to put my pennies away so I can get this one, lol. Thanks again Jim. I saw your album and goodies you sent Fi. Everything was fab. Lee x

Thanks for the tips. I just got mine earlier this week and was a little disappointed with the ragged edges, especially for a trimmer this expensive. I watched your video and tried just cutting "down" and it did work better, but still not all that great on Gina K 120 lb card stock. I had hoped to buy it locally so I could easily return it if I had problems, but no one had it so I had to get it from Amazon and shipping will be ridiculous. I emailed Fiskars, and I will let you know what they say.

I am so glad you've done this video. Im in dyer need of a trimmer. And Im not being dramatic lol. I have a flimsy wee doo-daa that cost me £7 which is about $11 and Ive been stuck with not just ragged edges but ragged curtains lol. Its awful! Its so bad that when I cut light card, the plastic ruler bows out in the middle giving me a curvy cut. Ive been wondering what to go for and everyone seems to have great things to say about Fiskars. Im on a tight budget though, is it expensive? Lee x

    JIm,
Thank you for the video. I am looking for a great rotatory paper trimmer. The one I have, I have had for about 13 years. It is time for a new trimmer. The ragged edge is what I am experiencing with my present trimmer, even though I have purchased new blades. I would be willing to pay a bit more for a trimmer that would give precise, clean cuts.

Know this is an old video. Just wanted to say if you have problems with ragged edges try to put a drop of sewing machine oil on the rails/bars, the movement of the "blade house" (sorry my native langauage is not english) will be much smoother. I can cut both up and down without getting ragged edges. Love this trimmer!

Does it have a replaceable blade and if so, does it come with an extra blade? I hate to admit but I probably have about 10 paper cutters. No single one is perfect. Some wobble. I have a Fiskars one that runs along a wire and the wires keep fraying. I haven't been able to find out if the wire can be replaced so I bought a whole new one instead. I have a MS one, a cutterbee one, one that has a glass cutting surface but none of them cut chipboard. Okay, so what is one more , LOL!! TFS

Just bought this and am finding that the movement of the cutting mechanism is very stiff. Wondering whether this was true of yours and if it gets any easier to move? A little workout indeed to push this back and forth! Who knew paper trimmers were a substitute for weights? :)

  • @devilblueduke

so the 6 mark is 6 and one eighth. So does that mean all the other measurements are all off by an 1/8 inch?

  • @queenmychl

I was watching another review video, and she stated that she had to make about 50 cuts before the edges were smooth in both directions. I don't know how many cuts you have made on yours (as of the video), but I wonder if this might be the issue?

Chars, it'll come. It can be frustrating, but you will get it. A good trimmer is worth the money. I'm embarrassed to say how many I own, just because they were never just perfect enough. If you keep having problems, email me and maybe I can help you through it. Thanks and good luck my friend. J.

Thanks for the great tips! I also bought this a couple of weeks ago, love, love it! But I noticed the sticker started wrinkling up in spots and its gotten worse every day. It's been sitting on my work table in an even temperature room. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you very much. I have about got it figured out. I also bought the Spellbinders Card builder series and SU Perfect Layers rulers. I have two Fiskers trimmers and SU guillotine trimmer. I am gonna get this one way or another. LOL I am not real excited with the Card builders. The dies leave some indentions on the cutouts but I can live with that.

Well, Loops, not the cheapest trimmer around, but a wonderful investment. Does that sound better? LOL! The original price is like 115.00. But worth it! It cuts chipboard which makes the price even better right? LOL!

It should not do that, cut like that, it should cut both ways perfect and you should go back to the store and got a new trimmer.
A friend of mine had it too and received a new one from Fiskars itself!

just be careful, if the plastic paper guard breaks, the paper moves very time and fishers don't sell them as a replacement part! mine is now useless....
