20 years ago, my sister and I had this Hives alarm tone in the morning and it worked wonders for me not being a morning person at all. Thank you for activating those memories. Maybe I'll try it nowadays. They still got this magnificent drive. Yeah!
I’ve seen hundreds of live concerts and The Hives remain the best I’ve ever seen. It’s not even close. Pelle had that audience in the palm of his hand from the jump and never let go. Glad to see them back at it.
Same I`ve seen LOTS of bands, first time i saw the hives like 12 years ago only knew 2 of their songs, they still got me and the hole crowd jumping from minute 1 to the end of the show, one of the best experiences in my life.

The thing you were thinking of where the sound is muted by the glass (or outside the booth in the Tribute video) is called diegetic sound - it's sound that exists 'within the world' of the film/show/video/etc.
Yes it's super interesting. Because in most musicals and music videos the music is not diegetic - which makes musicals especially kind of boring I think. So if you have something like this, it breaks with our expectation. A good example is also Blues Brothers. I will fight anyone who says that movie was a musical. Because the music is diegetic, which is a huge part of its magical realism. The music itself has consequences in the story, which makes it so much more fun to watch and meaningful.
04:39 - it's a switch from the non-diegetic to the diegetic I'd say - so first you hear the track over the action but then you hear it in context of the office in which it's set. They do the switch all the time in movies - Baby Driver does it all the way through, for example

Love the impact they give their deliveries. The "Count down to shut-... DOWN!" makes you headbang just reflexively. Also can't forget about their typical playful bait and switch at "[...] shut... Up..." The Hives have a quality to their songs where it takes me a moment to get into them - but once I'm there, they won't ever let me go.
I totally agree with JH here, they do this kind of rock better than everyone else nowadays. They carry the torch from early Kinks (You really got me, All day and all of the night) with such pride and joy, for us to enjoy. Best I´ve heard in a really long time!

I just saw The Hives (third time) opening for Arctic Monkeys in London a week ago. They started the set with "Bogus Operandi"--it's an instant classic! They also did "Countdown to Shutdown". Immediately caught my ear as an especially good new song.

Last time you smoked on here, I had the weirdest sensation... I could swear I could smell the smoke... but it was just my mom having a smoke break on the balcony and forgetting to close the balcony door 🙂 I never did succumb to the habit myself, but I've seen my mom smoke like a chimney for over 50 years and one thing I've learned is that you will never get anywhere telling people to stop smoking. Can make even little old ladies like my mom very scary! 😅 Oh, and... THE HIVES!!!! ❤
I thought I recognised Swedish actor Magnus Krepper as the smoker/older version of "Howlin Pelle Almqvist. And it is indeed him. So I guess the other guys in the beginning of the video are older (?) actors/musicians aswell.

Saw them 5 times on the Monkeys tour. Very good live, energetic. CRAZY. For a young man of 23 it was refreshing to see. Check out The mysterines too, they were the first act and they have done good tunes off their latest album, rock and a front woman. Worth the listen.
If you like incredible riffs, you really need to listen to and review Tigercub. The most exciting emerging band I've heard in over a decade. Start with Stop Beating On My Heart (like a bass drum) and then move on to their latest album, which is genius
