There are several ways to reset or bypass the forgotten BIOS password, but they did not work for this acer laptop model.
luckily, we found another method which is 100% working method for many laptop brands(acer, toshiba, hp, lenovo, dell, asus etc.) including this acer laptop model and many desktop computers.

Going to try this one more time on the locked Optiplex 3020. I think it has a permanent memory module on it or something though.
This won't work on most laptops made since 2010 where the password is stored on a separate EEPROM. I took the battery out of mine for over a day and the password was still there.

@@zeypo actually it didn't. Even using the so - called "master password". Besides the Dell laptop was a very basic one. It has a CD - DVD slot, a space for the DVD drive, but there was no actual connection on the mobo. Very limited laptop, so I donated it to Goodwill! As a kind of hobby I look for electronics in dumpsters and curbside stuff!

At your own risk - you may also want to short the battery connection after the coin-cell battery has been removed. This will clear out any remaining charge left in capacitors that could be keeping memory alive.

@@PrashantLama-ft8yb The Surface Laptop in question has had Linux installed and then I reinstalled W10. So the locked UEFI does no more than restrict the settings that you can alter. My suggestion is ignore it. Cheers G Fuck MS anyway.

Just curious, this seems straightforward yet many videos show unsoldering bios chip, reprogram and resolder. Why does this work without the reprogram of bios?
I think that is only necessary if the BIOS (this is not the same as CMOS/Setup) has been corrupted, OR instead of having CMOS you have NVME. If you just have fouled the CMOS data to a state where the computer can no longer boot, it is usually enough to "air out" the CMOS battery.

@@Vero2yu "airing out" the CMOS battery? Well, you take it out of the holder for a few minutes if it is mounted like that. Usually it is.
What if the laptop does not have that lithium battry?

hi, I used to have similar problems before but if you can access your bios you'll be able to change the settings UEFI Settings to LEGACY settings on Boot settings
try pressing F9 after powering up, and see if you get any options to boot.

@@DLBDesuLofiYou cannot reset BIOS password in devices built from 2018 as TPM was chosen as security measure which prevents doing this thing. There is only one way that is to change motherboard.

This can't apply to any laptop or even desktop. I have Dell Inspirion E1405 that literally used XP and year i see on product key is 2005 Windows XP Media Center Edition. So wish there was a Linux way of breaking into this. If there is, Just not sure how. I just basically wanna bypass and delete hard drive right away and so on.

If it’s a windows password, I think a wipe of the whole ssd/had that has the Microsoft Windows installed on it should do the trick. Since the OS is installed on the ssd/hhd it’s running off of. Install windows again and should fix the problem

Doesn't really work on my Lenovo Y700-17isk. I even had it drained for 1.5hrs and still nothing. I guess newer laptops with EEPROM for BIOS is really just that uncrackable alright. :/
It's crackable, you just have to use jumper wires on the chip to clear the password.

Too far from 100 % as many laptops got a security chip and the password is stored there - not in main BIOS. Even CMOS Kill cannot erase that.

Acer E11 is a P.I.T.A about this job... need to kinda take it completely apart to reach the CMOS battery, and be careful not to mess up the touchpad connector. Which I did. But then, the touchpad sucks anyway IMO, far better using it with a mouse especially where I use mine. I made a hack when I was at it, I carved some plastic out of a honeycomby part in the shell, so I could move the CMOS battery to a spot where I can reach it without going all the way again. If I find it too difficult to get replacement 1220 button cells, I have room to fit in a very ubiquitous 2032.

Unable to reset from this mathod trying many time
If this method not work then you must reprogram the bios chip. This method performs well when bios is not corupted and just reset it. For corupted bioses you need elevated skills and tools to perform succesfull repair as you need to reprogram the eeprom chip out of the mobo and (or) replace it with a new one.
