I have to say I actually really enjoy Death Guard and Nurgle forces with a "cleaner" aesthetic, I've actually just started a Death Guard army recently and I'm even thinking of converting off a lot of the more cartoony mutations from some of the models. Nurgle units can still look really good and accurate to the theme with minimal organic corruptions but still using a lot of rust and grime, not everything needs to have giant leaking sphincters or a gnarly face.
1989 was when i started playing. In the US Army and flush with disposable income. In Florida, at the time, a box of 8 Terminators was $9.99, the Land Raider was $12.99, and one could still field an Imperial Assassin in Terminator Armor with Lightning Claws and Vortex Grenades. Good times.
I still have flashbacks about those bloody lascannons with targeters, in all the games of second edition I played my 3 predators and single land raider managed to hit ONCE with a lascannon. That genestelaer didn't know what splatted it.
I have to say I am starting a Death Guard army and your videos have been really inspiring. I love your style and color scheme and just wanted to say thanks for all the ideas. That land raider is beautiful (in all its decaying glory).
Personally, I think the level of decay looks just right. People often go overboard with decay and demonic mutations for Nurgle vehicles. This one you can still see it's loyalist origins, with the decay and corruption being more subtle and sinister. The only point of criticism I can think of would be the pink pus sores on the armor. If I had done them, I think I would have made them look like they spread out just a little bit more. Like maybe freehanding some spidery veins spreading out in various directions from them. But it's really a needless nitpick since the overall impression is really Nurgle:y.
@@Miniscape-wh40kIf you do then this old hobbyist would just be happy to have added some inspiration. 🙂 And thank you for the video! I enjoyed it on a frozen porch with a glass if Laphroaig and a nice cigar. 😁

Great job, thanks for posting this. Very tastefully done, keeping a lot of the original in there. I was kind of sad to see the side panel battle damage was pipes, and not tentacles or like flesh underneath though. Also appreciated the detail of specific corrosion. Interestingly, the verdigris (patina) is composed of a number of different copper salts such as sulfates, nitrates, chlorides, sulfides, and carbonates. Finally, love the songs, keep them up!
I gave my first 2nd edition Land Raider (RT Land Raider) to my ork Freebooters, as loot. (Yours need to be) More corrupted, no. It is corrupt in itself, because it is old (it smells old, it is rotten, in itself). (I meant yours, it does not need to be more rotten, because it is so iconic and an antique old thing, that is rotten because of its age.) A super Model! And the oldness you show here by weathering or rusting it is so great. Everything you said is so right for me, you love the model really, me to. I love the wood on the front, I believe, I saw wood. And I think the idea to put the ball bit of the las cannon back on the raider meant for me, it is where it belong. It stays with the hull for many years longer now. It not gets lost.
Great job. Really love the colour scheme. My old Plague Marines were Goblin Green with Go Faster Red tim. Believe it or not, was just after building an Ork warband. As another comment said, the subtle corruption works really well. A good contrast with the Greater Demon tank. Sometimes a few bits, and a wonderful paint job, are perfect. 👍
Very nice! 👏👏👏 Norris maintains a surprisingly tidy vehicle. I forget how boxy their proportions really are compared to the more modern iteration! I haven’t seen GW plastic that colour in a very long time!
you inspire me to the point i want to print a landraider only to lose motivation halfway through and just rewatch your vids again to see how well you do this sorta stuff 😂
What a transformation, I like the use of sprue for weapon connectors, I may have to use that idea. My friend offered me his land raider and I havent the heart to strip it and repaint it, I plan to just fix the damage and give it back once I find lascannons. Your Nurgle force is growing like a thrice blessed infection, nice collection of vehicles .. grandfather provides.
Battle Hymn of the Decomposition Corps. (To the tune of the Munchkin Song ((Arnold Rimmer)) If you're feeling ill then that's okay. The bloats and the shivers will all go away. The God of Pestilence will save your day. He's Nurgle, Nurgle, Nurgle, Nurgle. He likes to fart and belch and gurgle. He only speaks in a lispy burble. He'll corrupt your soul on the durble. For his guts poke out and hang in coils. He's Nurgle, Nurgle, Nurgle, Nurgle. He's been known to play a spot of Kerbal. He's got a cage for Frank, his pet Gerbil. Everybody loves that little fur-ball.
I do like the "tasteful" amount of Nurgle on the Land Raider; a lot of times things are taken to an extreme in chaosification but this feels like a nice "early corruption" stage
Nice work, a bit too clean for something in a Nurgle army but it certainly can't be mistaken for any other faction. The one thing you should have done is go to town on weathering the tank treads since those would be quite dirty and a bit rusty and those are some massive treads. I wish I could snag an original Land Raider kit but it's as rare as a hen's tooth, happy painting!
I cant think of a nurgle related pun this time. Got into the hobby too late to get an original Raider. I would always search in store and never find one (and too awkward to ask to order one). In hindsight, I assume GW had the new version waiting and ready to go and so it was never stocked in 97/98. Still, excellent paint job.
I'd recommend trying to find LA's Totally Awesome cleaning solution for paint striping. I'm not sure if you can get it in the UK, but it comes in a big gallon jug allowing you to submerge entire vehicles with it in a plastic tub. It'll take all the paint off and leave the plastic clean and intact. I make this recommendation because it seems like you spent quite a bit of time de-gunking the tracks. Great build and paint job as always!
You did it again!great job my man. I got an original copy in pieces in a box , way down the list of projects but your video may very well get it moved up the list, although mine will be an imperial fist to go along with an army of classic minis I have. Well done, again .

Let's go. Day off. Chill land raider vid dropped. It's gonna be a good day.

That double land raider kit, adjusted for inflation, cost 36 pounds.
But having said that, in 1989, you could buy a 2 bedroom house for that.
In today's dollar that is $73 for two landraiders. The cheapest landraider (chaos) is $92 for 1
still cheap by modern warhammer prices.
Good times.
Equip the assassin with Combat Drugs for a 12'' charge and 24 Lightning Claw attacks.
Fantastic to see an old mini come back to life. I had one and the same beige plastic back in the day.
A grand job sir. That is the finest manky tanky. Looks like Nurgle is spreading through your force. You'll soon be able to field a pure Nurgle army.
I like this level of corrosion for the land raider that is still crewed, it stands in a nice contrast to the Daemon Predator.
