I stream AAA games so it's very rare I get lots of viewers I get between 3 to 5 people so overall it's just a hobby for me and I just love playing games

That's a totally valid reason to stream!

One of my challenges was a language barrier. When I started streaming I mostly spoke Spanish and I grew a small Spanish community. Then out nowhere I started getting English viewers so I spoke English to greet them and get to know them. So I’m in this limbo where I’m speaking two languages in one stream. Sometimes they seem fine with it because I just say the same thing in both languages but I’ve gotten dms saying things like “you should just speak English because you’ll get more viewers” but if I see one recurrent Spanish viewer I don’t wanna make them feel left out.
It’s a little hard to keep up with it but I guess it turned into this unique thing I do.

That's really tricky. One thing you could do is speak to english chatters in English then spanish chatters in Spanish. But you'd need to decide what language you want to speak in when just talking generally. It's not true that you get more viewers speaking english. There are loads of very successful Spanish streamers!

Very insightful and I can totally relate to the Monday- Friday 9-5 then streaming on the weekends burn out. Is there such a thing as a 8 day week? Lol

I'm very grateful for the skills I already have that are helping me stay positive and happy as a very very small streamer. I have a degree in dramatic arts, and so much of the performing and improv skills I learned in classes and during performances actually translate very well into streaming. I'm very comfortable with just spouting off commentary to and with myself about what I'm playing and what's generally going on in life. I got used to performing for no one, just myself, or just a few peers while doing exercises in classes and putting on shows with all of five people in the audience (who were forced to be there for a grade, lol.) My biggest goal for streaming and online content creation is to create a community. Of course I hope to one day be able to live off of online content creation because creating is what I enjoy and makes me happy but I also know that my path may lead me elsewhere. I'm just following what makes me happy!

My expectations with everything are way too high. If something isn't amazing it isn't worth doing! Those people in the coffee shop when you said learn about someone in your chat; that made me LOL so hard for some reason. Great freaking video though. I loved this! Thank you so much for all this valuable information.

gg youtube for not notifying me of this comment xD Having goals is a great thing as long as you know you will have to go through a process to get there. Don't expect partner in a week then be disappointed when you don't get it. Also b-roll baby! Took me a year to realise this was a thing xD

Been affiliated since around June and no Subs. Not really seeing a point to being affiliated to be honest. Not to mention with all the mess going on with Twitch right now I do not see it going far. I will not go to facebook because they literally got sued yesterday by the FTC in the US.

there are positives to being affiliated that aren't linked to monetization like channel points but also some big negatives like ads and exclusivity. I would do a pros and cons list. More cons then you can always give up affiliate.

yeah the ads are making people leave and it is annoying
