Please make a video on the plants you finally gave up on. Your video gives me solace for the plants I have killed.

    •  3 года назад

Sometimes it happens. As she noted in this video, no matter how good/great of a gardener, we all have killed at least one plant.

Pilea usually prefers to sit on the drier side . It does really well when kept in bright indirect sunlight. Once it starts growing, it starts giving pups and even gives out shoots, a sort of a flower . Water it sparingly !

Have tried 3 different coleus varieties. Managed to keep them alive for a few months, kept getting too many mealybug infestations. So just gave up. Had 4-5 Hibiscus plants with beautiful flowers, but the mealybugs drove me nuts... Gave them away.....

@@madhavisabnis9654 yeah mealybugs need some constant attention, what I do is I make 2- 3 litresof neem oil solution and then whenever I am free or anxious I spray them on.

      Me!!
Coleus and crotons have not survived for longer than a year at my hands.
This has always pained me ascI see them thrive easily in the hands of others.
And just to clarify, I have some potted plants that have been with me for a good 15-16 years now, so no I'm not a serial plant killer 😐

I did a video a couple of months or so ago about what I call PPP = Plant Parent Problems and another on plants that I have killed. For me, I will watch a video and see a plant look amazing and I think to myself... I want that plant. Then I buy it and it doesn't last long in my care. Some plants are too finicky and there is so much one may need to do to keep it happy and it is beyond our capabilities. Thanks for sharing your struggles because they are real.

For the Dischidia, care involves bright indirect light and consistent watering. These are epiphytes after all.
The leaves are succulent like and too water makes them swell like a ball. However, too little water dries up the plants quickly.
I water mine every 2-3 days depending on the condition of the soil. I use a soil mix similar to that used for my hardy succulents.
I've seen people also prop them on some moss and keep them on a wall like orchids.
    All the best

If I were you I will pull all the droopy leafed out of your pilea pepromia. Where they are mainly joint at the main stem. I will use tooth pick to airate the soil around the plant. This happened to me by accident. Mine was looking sad so I decided to change soil. I started with pulling droopy leafed and was using fork to gently take it out. Then looking at roots I realized it was healthy so I figured it’s just winter and it’s going through normal winter cycle. One month later all joints where I pulled the leafs out are showing new growth. So I guess airation and cutting out dull leaves gave it new vigor. It’s going to be bushier than before

I have struggled with Alocasia amazonica for the past 2 years only this year it's just started growing gangbusters! .. the thing I've noticed is letting it dry out a little, lower light and very rich organic compost has lead to my success. Mine is in 80%leaf mould and 20% cocopeat and it's thriving this year.
My aunt has one which is 4 feet tall with leaves more than a foot wide!! 😳 Her's is growing by her chicken coop.

I don’t have my 450 plus plants inside the house because I have cats. However, they are at my front door garden and my patio garden. I don’t know if diatomaceous earth works on spider mites but I use it. I only use food grade DE. I also have an abundance of lizards. I’m sure they’re munching on insects too. I use it in my 45 EarthBox vegetable Garden. My mother named it “The Garden of Eatin’”. U name it I’m growing it. LOL. I love your videos and your love for plants.
