I love how you use the English language. "If you encounter such leaves..." I would never think to use the word encounter there, and it is absolutely elegant.
I'm so glad mosquitoes aren't a concern for me here! Yikes. Also, unrelated, but can I just say how beautiful your voice is? It's so relaxing I could listen to it for ages! :) 🌱✨
In a shallow, open container (including anything you’d use to root plant cuttings), there’s enough gas exchange between water and air that the water will generally be saturated with oxygen, and the carbon dioxide will outgas quite rapidly as it is produced. So changing the water in the container is to keep down algae, bacteria, fungus, and mold levels (and, of course, mosquitoes), not really to maintain an oxygen level.
Just curious, I’ve noticed some plant owners only keep there plants in water containers for the roots-but you mentioned taking them out of the water and into soil after a few inches of root growth. I also do like observing my root growth in the clear water vases and debated just leaving them as such rather than planting them. Is this okay after all? Or do you think we should always plant directly after achieving 3 or so inches of root growth of all of our plants? Thanks! ✨🌱🌿🪴 Love your video-it is so helpful and your accent is absolutely gorgeous to listen to as well!
I love all your videos, they are so informative. I'm just starting to learn a little bit of gardening, have no previous knowledge. But I love plants in my house. I brought a ivy plant cutting from a friend's place yesterday. I've put it in water for now but I have no clue as to how to get it to develop roots. Please help!
U can add this point too : plants rooting will b faster in a non transparent bottle than transparent because root development doesn’t need light .So first keep the plant in a opaque bottle with water , then transfer to anything ☺️
Hey Ann! Love everything about this video. Simple, to the point, no irritating music, and perfect length of the video. Love your instagram content too! You are doing great! Appreciate your efforts in making all this information easily available to fellow plant enthusiasts 💚

@@lilsleetee1427 can you keep it in water forever or do you eventually have to plant it? Also did you just put it in regular soil? Or did you add anything to it?
I have watched your this video and understood point relating to larvae. I have water lettuce grown in a big tub. It is very difficult to replace so much of water weekly. Please let me know if there's another way of dealing with larvae.
Found ur video while searching for something else.. loved all ur tips about plant propagation.. i hv just started to propagate my house plants and garden plants and found ur video very helpful.. you just earned a new subscriber..🤗
The clarity of your video is amazing! Thank you for investing in good equipment. Secondly, this video was so helpful because I wanted to bring back some of my annuals for next year.
Well that was a great video❤️, I have tried pothos and philodendron cuttings in water almost all of my cutting starts rotting from the bottom within a week I don't seem to understand what's the reason behind this. I keep changing water twice a week, I take filtered water, keep them in indirect bright light. Can you please specify me as to what's shouldi be doing wrong and what can I do to make them survive.
How can I save a cutting that started to root inw ater, but now the tips of the roots look dark and there has been no progress in a wee. Should I cut the dark part of the root? Will it continue to grow?
If i already see many roots growing in my pothos cutting, can it just live in water forever? Or do I have to put it in soil? Thank you your videos are very helpful!
I think so.....I have like twenty bottles with pothos in them, no intention to put them in soil because in my personal experience they are more likely to survive......most importantly do not give pothos direct sunlight...I made that mistake .
John from NZ here, but my wife from Meghalaya and we will be moving there when conditions permit. Firstly, my thoughts with you all in India at present. I do a lot of propagation here in NZ and will be doing more (different plants, different climate) when we move to Meghalaya. I liked the video very much but I just say that I have variable experience with propagating in water when they also propagate in soil. There are a few plants that I find propagate well in both (e.g. Armeria, "cigarette plant", pineapple sage) but if I start them off in water they grow roots much quicker and easily transplant directly into pots or the garden itself. One of the joys of gardening is that one can always experiment, always learn and enjoy sharing experiences with other plant lovers from around the world.
Thank you for the information. I just repotted and trimmed my Zebrina Transcadetia. Over 50 cuttings are in water right now. I will be placing them into soil tomorrow because I don't want to loose them.
I purchased two twigs of dracena (sold just for show) and it grew roots in water!. Now I am scared to transfer it in soil fearing it might die. Please help me!
It needs to move to soil to get the nutrients. What I do is a fill a 10 or 12 cm pot with a mix of potting soil and seedling mix (but use what you think is most suitable), plant the rooted plant and keep it in the same location as it was for at least a week. (So it doesn't have changes in light and temperature at the same time as moving to soil). Water well but make sure the soil is draining so that the plant doesn't get soggy. I don't use any fertilizers, compost etc. for this. Best of luck.
Hi mam, hope u r doing good !! Need a help, i have a rubber plant bought it from the nursery 17 days ago, was doing good !! Sunday i repotted it in a new clay pot. It was doing good till yesterday evening but today when I came back from work the leaves were in a dropping stage !! Pls suggest what should be done !!
Give it some time to pick-up after repotting. Dont move it around and do too much. Sometimes plants are stressed when repotted. Continue to give good care for it.
#1 so true. It's good to all rinse the roots with a sink sprayer if you can if you let them sit in water longer than "considered necessary" like pothos/philodendron for example
good video!! I like that you tell the truth, and not saying propagating in water is the best thing ever, like other videos do.I will add that, the kind of water your using is really important too.I find that in tap water ,or filterd water, cuttings die easy,so I use only mineral water(spring water)for cuttings ,
I have a problem where my ficus cuttings do produce roots, but never grow new leaves & eventually die. (both cuttings in water & cuttings in soil) Any idea why?
Superb video ! I am a new gardening enthusiast and I loved your detailed yet to the point explanation. I will surely keep all these tips in mind while propagating my plants.
Thanks to this video! I never knew it was mosquito larvae! I thought some kind of plant worms and would keep them thinking that they were as beneficial as earthworms 😕
Why did my pothos plant water turn white and cloudy? I put in liquid plant fertilizer for the first time for it a few days ago and today the water turned cloudy
Hello! amazing video! but what if i want to leave the plant in water (for instance alocasia zebrina), can i trim the roots and put it back in water or will it get a root rot?
I have grown money plant in water and I change the water after 2 days but still there is fungi growing on it's roots and also on the bottle. Please help me out!
I put cherry blossom cuttings in water it is showing green growth like leaves are about to open but roots aren't visible it's been 12 days since i planted.
Do u add rooting hormones into the water.. For eg Rootex which is meant for soil plants.. if you add a minute amount will that help.. thank u Video is soo wonderful 👌👌
Thanks for the video! can you please tell me why my money plants didnt grow fast even if i care it well I put it light sunlights I keep changing water 2-3 days but still growing so slow☹️ I feel desperated by this! Even if i cant plant money plant how can i plant others!!
I kinda have a doubt in the 1st part. Don't plants take in carbon dioxide to give out oxygen? But the opposite is mentioned in the video. At least that's what I studied. I'm just a beginner to gardening. So pls clarify me.
True plants taking in carbon dioxide and giving out oxygen happens during photosynthesis, but plants do need oxygen intake for cellular respiration and that happens through the roots of the plants.
