പാലായിലെ വെള്ളിയെപ്പളി എന്ന കൊച്ചു ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ജനിച്ച ലിസ് മാത്യു 23 വർഷമായി കേന്ദ്ര രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തെപ്പറ്റി എഴുതുന്ന ഒരുജേണലിസ്റ്റ് ആണ്. മലയാള ദിനപ്പത്രമായ ദീപികയിൽ വെറും റിപ്പോർട്ടറായി ജോലി തുടങ്ങിയ ലിസ് പിന്നീട് ഇന്ത്യ അബ്രോഡ്, ദി മിന്റ് എന്നീ മാധ്യമങ്ങളിൽ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പത്രപ്രവർത്തകയായി. ഒരു സമ്പൂർണ മലയാള പത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പത്രത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ലിസിന്റെ യാത്ര അത്ര സുഖകരമായിരുന്നില്ല. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ശരിയായി എഴുതാനും സംസാരിക്കാനും കഴിയാഞ്ഞതിനെ തുടർന്ന് ഒരുപാട് പരിഹാസങ്ങളും പുച്ഛങ്ങളും ഒരുപാട് പേരിൽ നിന്നും ലിസിന് നേരിടേണ്ടി വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. പരിഹാസങ്ങളിൽ പതറാതെ പിന്നീടുള്ള വർഷങ്ങളിൽ ദൃഢനിശ്ചയത്തോടെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പഠിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി പരിശ്രമിച്ചു. തൻ്റെ പോരായ്മകൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കി ലിസ് അതിനനുസരിച്ച് കഠിനാധ്വാനം ചെയ്ത് ഒടുവിൽ നന്നായി ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് എഴുതാനും സംസാരിക്കാനും ഉള്ള തൻ്റെ സ്വപ്നം നേടിയെടുത്തു.

Liz Mathew is a journalist hailing from Velliapally, Pala in the Kottayam district of Kerala. She has been in journalism covering national politics for more than 23 years. truly inspirational.Most of the Malayalam medium students face this problem even they are best in technology and the field where they work. Thanks to our public education system which helps an average family student to get good career in their life. But there should be an equal importance for English with Malayalam in our lower primary schools which will help the students to demolish communication barriers.I have seen a lot of examples where proficiency in English wins over the knowledge .

Those who don't know to speak in English should understand from her speech that her situations forced her to improve her skills. So if u watch lots of youtube channels or attending spoken English classes will give a chance to learn the rules n correct ur mistakes but you have to take efforts to improve ur English by speaking ie through practicing. I faced the same situation. I have been failed in english a lot. I didn't know english while my schooling
I didn't know vocabulary ,grammar etc. I didn't know how to speak with out error. But now. I can easily speak. I study this. My method is reading, watching etc.. I was reading a lot of English books and under line the vocabulary words from that book. Reading news papers like the hindhu, Indian express etc.. If we decide to study any thing. Definitely we should study.
