Good video and good info! Best what you have over other RUclipsrs is your personality. No arrogance. Others do not say why to use S-log 2 over the others only that it is flat and the color can be put in later. Thanks. So since ive upgraded my camera to BMPCC 4K, and i still have my a6400. i figured i can now play with a6400 settings.......with the setting you have provided.....I have to say.....I am FREAKING BLOWN AWAY. I mean this is by far the best settings i have had on my a6400. I expose between 1.7+ and 2.0 and WOW!!!!!!!!!! My footage looks great.im not a colorist by any means, but to be honest it was easier to grade then i remember grading slog footage. i could still use some learning but iam shocked by how the footage i have came out. im more of a moody look type of guy. more darker but i believe i can stretch the colors out alot. Thank you man. you are mvp and i know i subscribed about a month ago for a reason. keep it up.

Technically standard profile is the most realistic since it’s capturing what’s actually in front of you. Grading used to be something only experiences colorists would do in motion pictures. Now everyone has the tools, which means it’s also a lot easier to mess up.

Wonder why your camera focus kept loosing / grabbing focus. I have the same issue with my Sony a6600 and can't figure out why it won't stay locked on my eye.

Found this video really helpful for slog2. Any ideas what lens you used, the ISO setting, Kelvin, F stop and % on the Godox light. I have this equipment but struggling a bit I think with exposure. Oh and do we need a slog > rec709 Lut before any colour correction / grade eec ? Thanks again.

Total newbie to shooting video on a mirrorless camera so please excuse my ignorance.
Currently have a Sony A6400 and wanting to shoot family stuff (ie not professional stuff like weddings).
I find it hard to see the screen when shooting video so I was thinking of getting something like a Andycine monitor.
So if we have our camera set to S-Log, do we use a lut (??) on the monitor, or do we view the flat image as we shoot? If so, what do you recommend for general "recording memories" type of videos (family excursions, holidays etc)

I am just starting with flatter profiles, I have a6400 and I am thinking about starting with hlg3, as Ive heared it is easier to grade for starters.

Hey there i have a question, so i have a Sony A6400 and i used your settings for the a7. Now i know the full frame of ur camera and bit may be a tad bit better then my limited apc-s but my question for the settings in the color phase and wanted to know something. With these exact same settings you provide i noticed i have a red tint to my footage. is that because the R +4 SETTING is set to that? in ur video you have color depth as followed
R+4
G+3
B+3
C 0 So on and so fourth....is there a reason the R+4 is set so high? as i said its a red tint or makes alot of my footage have a red accent to it..is that setting the cause of it???

I have a dude with that, I've an a6400 and it has log2 and log3 profile, but my question is, when you set the profile, it is setting up for the pictures too, so, the difference between the profiles in photography is like in video? I can improve the HDR if I will take my pics in log2 for the post later?

How hard or easy is it to much Color grades on footage from different equipment.
For example I’d be in SLOG2 on the A7ii, then D-cine like on the Osmo action 3 and mini 3/Avata.
Is it easy enough to match as I wouldn’t want it to be too jarring going from clip to clip.

Super similar to my LOG settings actually but i have the Colormode on PRO, have you played around with this? I find it gives me more room to push and pull color without tearing and just get a more "natural" saturation in post. Definitely recommend it if you've yet to try!

My Nikon D5500 has both a Flat picture profile and a Neutral picture profile. Which I was lucky to have
OMG! I love that teal and orange color you had showed very briefly at 2:47! Please can you share settings in the same way you have done in the description for picture profiles, but to achieve teal and orange straight out the camera! I am colorblind and really struggle to colorgrade anything in post when i need to, but now that I mostly use my camera for streaming through Camlink, I've had no luck playing around in Color Depth. I would really appreciate it if you could show me this directly in picture profiles! Big Love To You
I shot my a6400 for the first time, on Auto, late afternoon, thin overcast day, the colors, here in the tropics, were so fake, especially green foliage. Without grading, (which I do not yet wish to spend the time learning and doing) Auto is too fake and S-log is too flat. I saw a vid on RUclips and PP4 seemed to look ok for the short-term until I start grading, What do you think? Any suggestions for acceptable color right out of the camera?
S-log 2 force you to minimum ISO 800 in sony a6500..is it fine to record in higher iso like 800

Okay can someone please help…. I see the Difference between Picture Profiles 1 through 10 but what about changing all the settings in between.. like black level and Gamma(Slog, HLg)… To creator. You specify which profile you use but are you using SLog in picture profile 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 or10 and what are the creative styles….

I think Canon's got a profile called "Faithful" or something similar which is the flattest. I started out on a 750D and after some research that seemed to be what ppl use.

After seeing I learned one thing: use slog2
No explanation about:
Why not using slog3?
What are the settings of picture profiles?
What is Knee?
Why should I oversaturate my footage, shooting with log gamma curves? (If someone asks himself why... you should do it shooting with 8 bit colors (sony a7 III for instance) and saturate the footage down in post. With standard saturation you will get square jpeg artifacts. Very noticable on skins!)
What is black gamma?
What gamma and color settings play good together?
What is hlg and the difference betwenn hlg1, 2, 3 and why is nobody talking about? Is it useless? I dont think so!
Everyone speaks about color grading the slog footage so it looks great. Nobody talks about color space transformation. You dont have to grade nor aply some LUTs. Just go with the future and transform slog2 footage to ST2048 hdr10... Use an HDR10 capable tv like Sony where you can force HDR settings (Manualy switch to hdr10 interpretation) So you can grade the flat footage without applying LUTs and lose tons of information.....
Maybe I should do a video on that....
