  • Hey everybody! I have finally decided to upgrade the wheels and tires on my 2014 Silverado 1500 4x4. Perfect timing since I have a staple through one of my current tires. In this video we will be exploring the largest tire you can fit on a stock suspension 2014-2018 and 2019 LD Silverado and Sierra 1500.

    Thanks for making this video! Looks perfect on a 2014 Silverado with 2" level. Saves tons of time digging through forums. Mildly aggressive without overdoing it. I used the Falkens as well since they're snow rated but opted for load E. Again -- BIG thank you for taking the time to make this video!

    Tough part of doing this method is, it doesn't take into account suspension cycling and off axis turns. It might not rub much on a garage floor, but it might rub in real world scenarios.
    Either way, this is cool to see. I had those tires, e rated, on 17x9 at -12 on my Duramax and it looked awesome. May now do the same on the half ton after seeing this
    Also, why are the tires mounted opposite side facing out? Haha.

  • @bendino9016
    @bendino9016 2 года назад +5

    i went with pro comp wheels 17x9 with 265 70 R17 tires. offset is -6, and the oem style fenderflares are just about perfect for the little poke.

    I wish folks showing these wheel/tire fitment videos would also test with the suspension compressed. Wouldn't it be a better idea test with the suspension articulated than on flat ground? Specially for something meant to be used offroad...

  • @fishman80
    @fishman80 2 года назад +2

    looks great. stock suspension is fine if it will never leave the road. if u do any offroading at all, even a trail that is just bumpy and u are cutting and turning it will rub a ton. but if u are really staying on roads its fine.
    i ended up doing 2 inch level struts and its great. added a bigger block in the rear so the front still sits 1 inch lower than the back. but congrats nice job!

    Nice video, gives a good idea what to look for with fitting the larger tires without a lift. I'm trying to get an idea if this size would work for a 2001 Yukon Denali, but can't find any examples. I wonder if the GM design uses the same general fender clearances across the lineup - how similar my experiment might end up.

  • @r3tr0nic
    @r3tr0nic 2 года назад +2

    I'd imagine the -12mm offset is better with just a bit of trimming/scrubbing. I went with DS652V 20x10, with Federal 33x12.5 tires, -25mm offset. I managed to get minimal rub on the footwell side of the tire with a level kit and lots of trimming/scrubbing, but just didnt like the rub. Ended up putting a lift on. I'm planning on buying a 2nd 2014-2018 truck, and not sure if I'll drop to the slightly smaller tire size or lift again. I wish the wheel arches had just a bit more spacing right where the tires love to rub.

    Just bought me a 2018 Silverado this past year. Going to be putting a 2" RC leveling kit on it and getting me some new AT tires as the truck still has the tires from the factory on it and they are cracking bad. Just happened to stumble upon your channel looking for ideas on what size tires I should get and man, do those look good. Not a huge fan of bronze myself, but they look great. I might be getting new rims too now. 17s just make the tires look more meaty and I love that look on a truck.

    You won't have to do a full norcal chop until you try to go bigger than a 33" tire. If you level the front you should be able to clear even with mudflaps. I ran the falcon level kit which is similar to the bilstein 5100s. I had 275/70r18 at3ws on stock 18" wheels and put mine through plenty of articulation. When I went to 295/70/18s is when I really had to start cutting and modifying. Truck looks good keep up the good work 👍

      Nice! The rub isnt bad on mine at all. But I might play with the settings to see what eliminates it when I upgrade. But then the tires will probably be worn down enough. To not run lol

    33 inch tires are as big as you can go on stock Gm 1/2 ton trucks

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  2 года назад

      Yup. Technically these are considered 33" but actual measurements on them Came out lower as we mentioned. If you get a " 33" that is on the bigger side like 33.2 you might have a rough time.

      Without an offset you are going to be limited very close to the factory size. There isn't a ton of extra room with the square wheel wells
