Good video Geo, wish I had watched it before I installed mine yesterday as I had the same firmware update issue and I tried to install them before fitting onto the radiator. Your procedure is the one I eventually worked out was the best way.
Thanks for the test! Really useful feedback before to receive the thermostat by end of this month on my side! 👍
Much appreciated!
Thanks for this information, just what I needed to get started. Any good tutorial how to create day and/or week programs/schedule to turn on/off the radio according to a schedule?
Hi
thanks for your video
could you help me with this issuing i am facing
i plan on purchasing aqara thermostat and google nest.
my problem here, do i purchase the nest temp sensor or the aqara temp sensor, which one would recommend?
What modulating thermostat can I use with them?
Nice Vid, how does your Automation look like in HA in combination with a temperature sensor? In example if you want the room to be set to 23°C measured by the temp sensor?
Thanks buddy, you can do this in many ways. Templating is also a good one, not sure if you watched my templating videos here on YT or if you are a new viewer
How get them to turn the combi boiler on and of.
These devices make me wish I had radiators. haha. Having room specific heating solution would be awesome.
Indeed:) how have you been Jeff?
@@SmartHomeMakers it’s been busy. Feel like I got so many videos I want to make and not enough time. Haha.
Does it work with xiaomi home app and aquara gate?
Most interesting thing is how to communicate with external temp sensor like Aqara WSDCGQ11LM and manage it with HA
have you got this working? I have the TRV and an external sensor. I can select external sensor in HA but not sure how to tell it what sensor?
@@cooksterni not yet, same story, can choose external in HA but for now it works only with aqara hub and app :(
@@cooksterni I have some idea to buy Aqara internal camera with hub (Aqara G2H Pro Camera Hub) and test it
@@konradlesniak492 I can see in zigbee2mqtt there is also an option for external temperature so I'm thinking it must be in there somewhere. Prob need to edit a config file
@@cooksterni yeh but how to pair it with external device? who knows ;) In Aqara app is simple, watched it in different yt video
Do u have to use the homekit or home assistant, cant you just use the app to control them?
Will the Aqara Hub M1S work ?
Hi, man! I got mine today. I can say i was (Yeah... WAS!) excited, until i can get mine to control any temperature or just close the valve of my radiator. The radiator temp is just = to maximum and i have no idea what the heck is going on. And i can't even connect it to the M2 hub. I've got the hub as well in the same order. I left a note to the support and opened a ticket. Nothing so far. Can you share some experience and thoughts regarding my problem?! They will be highly appreciated! Thank you!
take batteries out for 30 seconds and reset. Then ensure its up to date with the Aqara App - Firmware update
got one to use with the e1 hub..
whem my TRV heats it fully opens until set temp is reached and total closes again until the temp again goes a bit under set temp. VERY annoying !! and noicy
am i the only one with that problem ?
Not quite happy with it myself, had to take it out at the end
This looks promising are they considered as child devices? I can probs can get some when I go back to China
Hey Alex! What do you mean by child devices ?
will they work with rechargeable batteries? Tks
Potentially, but I would avoid these now!
How is it working comparing with tado?
I will find out when the heating turns on!
I have problems to connect this to home assistant. It only connects after several tries and even than every entity is just „unavailable“. Do everything works for you in home assistant? You didn’t show that in your video.
Yeah I have one connected via zha. Good green signal on the network map and the climate control entity works. However the trv seems to go to sleep after a few mins and becomes unavailable. As soon as I wake it up it appears in HA and works as expected. I cannot wake it up by sending commands but reconfiguring the device does wake it up. Hopefully quirks will be incoming soon to sort it out but right now it’s not really useable on zha
I’m waiting for winter to kick in to properly test the functionality ! Hopefully zha get an update soon!
@@SmartHomeMakers just set up a regular ping to the device and upped the "consider device unavailable" time above the ping delay. Half hour in and its staying connected.
I love my E1’s - I’m just disappointed that rechargeable batteries causes instant “low charge” because of the lower voltage.
What's the highest temperature it can be set to?
You can disable it, therefore will go to the max temperature
@@SmartHomeMakers thanks!
What is expose to HomeKit? Will it be like a thermostat or just a temperature sensor?
Thermostat !
@@SmartHomeMakers so does this mean I wouldn’t need to get a smart thermostat and all of these valves would work
@@AlexManMe no they will work even if you don’t have a smart thermostat
@@MAMDAVEM so would installing a smart thermostat be a bit pointless if we can use these?
@@AlexManMe a smart thermostat would give some additional benefits, including the ability to control your heating when away from the house, the ability to geofence, switching the heating off when it detects no one is at home and with some thermostats for example the Nest, the ability to learn your habits of turning the temperature up and down. The more sophisticated ones are also Opentherm compatible which means, with a suitable boiler, you can have proportional control of you heating rather than simple on/off control which gives greater efficiency and accuracy of the temperature control.
To actually save money on heating don't you need these TRVs to also control your boiler coming on and off? Otherwise the boiler thermostat will override the TRVs?
Not really they reduce the dispersion of hot water by shutting the valve off! Again not a heating engineer so happy to be corrected!
Hi your boiler on/off will be controlled by your room thermostat whether this is a simple mechanical one or a smart one like Nest or Hive. The room that the thermostat is in should not have a radiator controlled by a TRV. The room with the thermostat should be the hottest /last room to heat up otherwise the boiler will switch off before the rooms with the smart TRVs can do their job.
If you search for beama trv energy savings, they have a pdf that details a thorough test in a controlled lab which seems to suggest they’ll still give you energy savings.
@@MAMDAVEM Not sure I totally agree with this suggestion. I have a number of these with a Nest. You can have TRV in same room (otherwise you will likely roast whilst waiting for other rooms to reach temperature, not all rooms are equal in size/heat loss etc) but if the room with the Main Stat (Nest) reaches temperature you just have to override it for other parts of the house and set each rooms TRVs to the require temperature/schedule. App isn't that logical although todays update (12/12/22) has improved the reliability.
@@marktime61 hi Mark, the reason I don’t have a trv in the room that the boiler thermostat is in is because if you do and it is set below the room thermostat, the boiler will not switch off as it won’t reach the target temperature. If you set the trv above the room thermostat then the trv temperature will never be met. Or am I missing something?
One year update how are you finding it?
Removed them out because of the noise they would make
Amazon assistant or Google home is better for Aqara system? Thank u
Whatever you already have should work fine! Check the compatibility on the website! Do you use home assistant ?
