Also before replacing/de-soldering try spraying some WD-40 or De-Oxit into the switch and pressing repeatedly to see if you can dislodge/clean the oxide off contacts inside!

Unfortunately it could be many things.
Try re-seating the ram and video card.
Sometimes running an eraser along the contacts for the ram and video card can clean any oxidization. Something to do extra when the ram or video card is out is a good idea or you still have had no luck. What happens here is basically a layer of build up from oxygen builds a non conductive layer old contacts).
Resetting the cmos sometime will help a PC that is not posting.
You can also try unplugging drives and just seeing if you can get it to boot up the logo on the screen. unplugging extra items can help fault find and save confusion, but you will have to plug them all in to give you a full functional computer.
Really all you can do is fault find the machine.
Good Luck, let us know how it goes and thanks for watching.

My dell 2400 won’t boot the psu works and the motherboard has a green light on it that works when hooked up any tips

Try doing a CMOS reset firstly.
Sometime there is a jumper that does this on the motherboard. Close the jumper (shunt it out basically) and try a boot.
This will generally wont make the pc boot. Turn off again and remove jumper. Try booting Hopefully that will work.
Other wise you could try this method.
      1. Disconnect the power cord from the AC power source.
      2. Remove the computer cover.
      3. Find the battery on the board.
      4. Remove the battery:
Wait 1-5 minutes, then reconnect the battery.
      5. Try Boot Up
If you are not getting any beeps from the pc,
You may need to reseat video cards and ram.
      Fault finding pcs....
Usually in computer fault finding once the simple tricks don't work I will try to make it go into an error mode where it beeps at you. If you can make it beep there is a good chance you get the pc to work again.
      To Do this.
Pretty much remove all the drives all the cards including video card.
Get it down to the Ram and cpu and power connected only in the pc.
      Try booting pc
If that does not give you a beep try removing all the ram and putting it in one by one (you may need to switch around which stick is in if it does not beep at you)
A single beep usually represents a successful post and lots of beeps mean something is not right.
Both at this stage are good signs.
Once you get a beep from the motherboard that's a good sign that you should be able to get it to boot.
Now put the video card back in and see if it boots up with display.
Slowly put things back in and check by booting periodically.
If it doesn't boot than you may have found your problem unless you have found that all ready.
Sometimes video cards and ram just need a reseat or a clean. You can clean the contacts on ram and video cards by using an pencil eraser.
Rubbing that across the contacts can really make a big difference in the conductivity.
That's about all the tips I have for you right now.
      We hope that helps.
      Good Luck.
Let us know if you have successor not.

When we noticed we had a power button problem when we pushed the front power button in very hard and rolled our thumb around the button. Every now an then it would boot up.
You could give that a try.
If that's the case then you will need to replace the button or the pcb that the power button sits on.

Unfortunately there is a few things that could be an issue here.
If you are not getting any beeps from the motherboard.
Usually the first thing I would do is unplug all of the cables off of the motherboard except for power cables and the CPU fan and remove all cards except video card and ram.
Then I try booting it up.
If that works I slowly re plug drives/ cards back in until it errors then I know the problem.
If it still is not working then I try removing the ram and video card.
This should cause an error that beeps at you.
If it beeps it tells you the CPU and motherboard are talking to each other.
At this point put 1 ram stick in at a time and the video card until you find the error (you may need to try another video card).
If you PC is not beeping at this stage you can try cleaning anything of the motherboard and maybe taking the CPU out and putting it back in this will basically re seat the CPU if it making a bad contact.
Basically you either trying to get the PC to beep so you know that the CPU and motherboard are working together.
Then you are trying to get the PC to boot on bare minimal components plug stuff back in until you find the fault (some times it somethings need to be just plugged back in to make contact again).
Unfortunately this is not a straight forward thing to fix and there possibly is a faulty components that is causing the problem. Re seating most of the hardware can fix this due to overtime the copper contacts do oxidize and don't contact properly giving issues.
We hope that can help you,
It's not a fun position to be in and we wish you the best of luck and hope that you can resolve the issue.
      Thank you for watching.
