Porsche IS keeping up with the heritage 100%. The 911 isn't made to be a museum piece - it's a driver's car. Period. In that respect certain things that once made sense, no longer make sense. It doesn't make sense to have a normally aspirated track car that can't compete. Hybrid / Electric is the future and Porsche damn well better keep up if they want to keep selling cars and be competitive. Many buyers don't give a crap about how the car sounds. I'm more interested in the performance, build quality, and amenities. I don't want a loud ass car in my neighborhood, ticking off the neighbors. I think people are unreasonably expecting Porsche to be what they're not. For those wanting "loud", perhaps they should look at a Camero or a Mustang. Many of us want EV response, GT3 handling, and 911 Turbo torque -- frankly the new hybrid GTS is a blend of all three. I think the Targa GTS will be crack'n and the Turbo S has needed some extra Oomph in the form of electrification for a few years now. Forced induction alone (courtesy of exhaust) doesn't cut it today. Porsche is innovating which is what they do. Porsche understands that in order to stay relevant, they need to move on. Keep the 911 shape sure - but it's got to be brought into the fold when it comes to technology. Keep rock'n your channel!
All very valid points! Not everyone wants a loud GT car. Especially in neighborhoods. You're also correct in progress must be made for motorsports. The deletion of the key feels weird, small as it is.
You are obsoletely correct!!! That’s why I would never let go of my 997 GT3!!! These cars are more about the engine sound and visceral driving experience than the 0-60 times. Let’s keep it that way.
The same sounds i heard 25 years ago with water cooled. People dont realize quite how phenomenal the increase in performance above even the stated Hp vs the fuel consumption.
Hybridization in my opinion does not take anything away. It adds power and fills the gap at very low rpm where a N/A engine falls short with a very small weight penalty. Stock exhaust can be fixed with an aftermarket muffler.
The problem is a less restrictive exhaust doesn't make a better sound unless the underlying sound is there. Look at the 992.1 generation. They sound almost hollow and tinny. Of course I'm not writing off Porsche, I'm curious how the car is, in person.
@@CoderMan I think the new gts with a nice aftermarket exhaust will surely impress. The only real big problem in my mind is that the car is going to cost a fortune.
The 918 is a hybrid and when we launched that thing on the top of the on ramp in Waltham it screamed and the voices were beautiful. We then put it in electric mode and it went silent and all you could hear were the rocks from the tires. I don't think it will be as bad as you think. You will just have to get on it more to enjoy it and that isn't a bad thing!
Coderman, you need to update your uninformed video. The sound of the 992.2 GTS with the 3.6L engine is awesome. The new GT3 has come out for 2025, so did you order it, as you said you would? The 2025 GTS is still an internal combustion vehicle, not an electric vehicle.
I never said the 992.2 would be an EV, its a T-hybrid, just as rumored. The sound is still not even close to an N/A flat 6, I stand by almost everything I mentioned in this video. While sound is subject, a mixture of baffling, fuel economy and the EPA limitations, many cars do not sound as good as they used to. In regards to the 992.2 GT3, no I did not pursue an allocation. The GT4 does everything I want in a trackable, but street capable GT car. I still have soft spot for the GT3 but the price increase in relation to the advancements of the platform just didn't make sense. If I was going to get a GT3 (maybe in the future) it would be a 992.1 or most likely a 991.2 as I prefer less tech and more raw driving.
You misunderstand the t-hybrid. It has no comparison to other hybrids that improve range. T-hybrid is a boost to the drivetrain for speed (2.9 sec 0-60 mph) with no turbo lag. It has been used for the last 10 years on F1 cars. Also look at the Nurburgring times which are amazing.
I don't believe I quoted fuel numbers, more the sound and driving experience which now that people have driven them i'm correct in my assumption. It may be fast and peppy but it is not a 911 experience.
Yes its very SAD. Oh how much I miss my 2007 997 GT3 "Lightweight" with those HRE R101 LW 20 inch Forged wheels and that Akrapovic full Titanium "straight pipe" exhaust . With help from McChips Stage 2 upgrade of the engine Firmware BHP was up to 432.3 @8010 RPM and weight down to 1345 Kg. Not an electric turbo insight ! Who needs stupid complex gimmicks ! We just want good old DRIVER INVOLVEMENT !
I hope when I can afford a911 the Porsche will say the same my first priority is a to pay my student loan s , I love the sound Best to you and other Porsche lovers !
There is a big difference between getting an allocation for a GTS and a GT3 I don’t know what you mean about just holding on to your GTS allocation and waiting for the 992.2 GT3 .
I think you misunderstood my comment. I'm saying I'll hold out to see the GT3. Not that I'll be able to buy one from allocation. However i am building a relationship with my dealership and currently own a GT car, so we'll see.
I get your point. Unfortunately worldwide regulations concerning emissions control are limiting the boundaries of what petrol heads like you (and me) expect and still enjoy to a degree. Hence the T-Hybrid 992.2 GTS. Sound - and quality of sound which is a very different thing than noise - is an essential aspect to car nuts, but as time passes, more and more cars are on the roads with the consequence of global pollution (noise included). So we find ourselves in front of a dilemma: either we stick to the car(s) we are lucky enough to own or we accept to enjoy or learn to enjoy the new technologies. I currently drive a 992.1 4GTS. The engine sound with sports exhaust on is rather pleasant even if I wouldn’t mind it being more raucous and louder. But where I live aftermarket exhausts are globally forbidden. So I just appreciate what I have and tell myself that I am still a very lucky guy. Who enjoys driving his car 😄
I don't disagree with your statement and perspective in the least. I am curious why Lamborghini was able to still create dumb fast Hurcan models that sound like they'll rip your face off! I know it's a V10 v. inline 6 but Porsche could have done it. I hope they do at some point. Enjoy the 4GTS!
You are right Porsche killed it! I am very disapointed with the new 911 992.2. I always love 911 and have my second GTS but definitly I won't go for the 992.2. I will wait for the GT3 and if it changes to hybride too then thats it, I will switch to Ferrari
I've heard so many different things, i'm curious what direction they go. 3.6 NA hybrid would be an interesting combo. Imagine if the .2 3RS got the 918 powertrain. I'm excited for the final act of all car companies. Just look at what Lotus is doing!
Change is the only constant . but don't worry, Porsche always have various versions for their cars. There might be a GTS "Classic" released eventually.....Also blame regulations. Soon all cars are going to have to be EV.
Partially disagree. I can provide an opinion as an owner and driver of many, based on stated information. I also did mention this, I'll be sure to drive one (still have my allocation) and make a final decision.
@@CoderMan OK, well i have listened to lots of Stones albums, seen them live many times, played in a rock band, but have not heard their new album. So you think an expressed opinion of their new album by me would have credibility, based on what I have read other people say? No way!!! Wait until you actually see and drive it, and then give an opinion.
As an owner of my 36th 911. My latest being a 992 Turbo S , I can categorically tell you that Guards red does not sell anymore. It is also a difficult to resell. Porsche know this and that is the reason for making it a paid option. Hardly any one wants a Red Porsche.
36th 911?! Congrats on that ownership history. Thats good to know, I still see quite a few GR Porsche but maybe not as many as in the past. Wonder what the top color is now..

Never sell that! Sound is such an important aspect of driving. Just get a commuter car if you want fuel economy and/or save the world.
The same sounds i heard 25 years ago with water cooled. People dont realize quite how phenomenal the increase in performance above even the stated Hp vs the fuel consumption.
Fair point. Change is hard, I am holding some contempt until I can drive one.

Deliveries of the 911 Carrera 992.2 GTS is moved back to March 2025.
What's the reason?

Im happy I was able to order My 2024 gts before this new model. Not happy about the changes they’re headed towards
Awesome! When is delivery?
You are so right, bro. 911s should be “raw and visceral.” I have a 2006 911 997.1 Carerra manual and an analog wonder.
Those 997s are special!

997 was peak water-cooled 911. It’s gone south ever since
The 997 was a world of its own!

totally agree with your views, Porsche should stick with existing engine, not making it complicate with battery and motor in 911.
Precisely. Sadly I am not on the committee lol

Waiting for a GT3 sounds like a good idea in my opinion. Which Ferrari?
Not anyone can get a new GT from Porsche - I tried for the 718 spyder never got allocation for 18 mo. I ask for a 911T got allocation in 6 weeks
This is very true. You need to have a purchase history or know someone in the dealership.
You really should have seen this coming. Governments control industry. All the other stuff is subjective. Ignition and stuff. Really!
Definitely subjective and yah, unfortunately these companies need to play nice or face fines. Still doesn't make me happy as an enthusiast.
992.2 GT3 will be NA 3.6 mild hybrid.

I could see a no limits 911 T or similar being announced with manual. However I doubt we'll ever see a non GT 911 with a NA engine
You can’t credibly review a car you have not driven; it’s like reviewing a pice of music you never heard.
