- This past weekend we put an article online talking about the iconic Morey's Piers statue that was damaged by the weather.
After doing some digging we found that it is being fully removed by Morey's Piers and will NOT be coming back!
There are no plans for a replacement nor plans for any other statue at this time.
Check out our video as we document it being removed.

As always, thanks Joey!
How beautiful is that little bit of Boardwalk made of what looks like ipe
All the iconic things in Wildwood should be a landmark
Nice moon veiw
I need to look through my old pictures
Yes, me, too.
Ah what a shame, like all things, it can't live forever, just glad everyone could enjoy it for as long as it was there, nice job Joey, happy holidays to you and your family and 👍🙏❤️🎅🤶🤗
Thanks Joey. You're looking good in that coat.
Thanks
One of my last trips before covid-19
Sad to see this statue gone :(
You would think Wildwood would rehab things like this along with Doo WIP items and place them on display.Mory brothers do a great job keeping their rides in tip top shape.
We that all love Wildwood have to fully realize unfortunately that Wildwood is changing. Motels are leaving, buildings are moving, restaurants are changing and we have to accept that. We just need to keep our memories alive and make new ones. Thanks Joey.
I can go back further to my childhood when this was Hunt's Pier. The Flyer, the Gold Nugget, there was a pirate ship on the end amongst so many others. Mini golf on top of the theater across from the pier. Fond memories. ❤
Looks like the weather started taking it down........Not the pier staff
I'm glad I got a good pic of him
I always loved that statue. It is such a boardwalk icon. It's a shame to see it being removed. Are there any plans to put something in it's place?
No they are not putting anything in its place
sad that the statue will be going away but a new one will rise!
I do miss my old Wildwood!
Thabk You for the update and what is haappening . Well i never was much of a maariner landing visitor. I stayed down around the old sportland pier. Try to find some old footage of the pier and the Aqua Circus they had in thre Sportland Pier pool that is no longer around. thank you again.
Just like any other business venture, it's all about the bottom line. And it's cheaper to tear down a deteriorating statue than to repair it. And considering that Morey's had just had 2 bust of a summer financially due to "you know what". I don't think there is much to work with on top of all the other capital projects. While it's understandable, another small piece of Wildwood just died a slow, painful death....
Oh no we always look for this icon to meet up at 😢
This just goes to show that.. little by little.. the "old" Wildwood is slowly disappearing. Be it old Motels being torn down or renovated into Condos or iconic landmarks - like the Boardwalk beach ball statue being torn down. Change is inevitable and things must move on.. that's just the way things are. Those of us who have visited the Wildwoods over many years will be able to reflect on these changes and say whether the changes are good or bad (in their view). I would say, in my opinion, that not replacing this statue with something new is a bad idea. There has always been some sort of statue here for decades. If the current construction of the ball is no longer sustainable... then I'd say.. figure out a new design.. for the next generations to admire.. enjoy.. and remember!
It will look so weird with that not being there next summer when I go on vacation.
Sad to see it go. I thought you were referring to the one at the beginning of the boardwalk so I’m relieved to be wrong.
This is such a bummer :-(((
Glad to see it go, hopefully they will get rid of the food stall too. It's kinda silly to hide the entrance arch behind it.
I agree. Not a good spot for that food stall.
Farewell Sunny.
Oh wow I feel like it's been there forever it won't be the same
King kong was the best statue!! In the 1970's
Are all the boardwalk restaurant closed for the year
Yes all of them are closed
The 90s were the best in Wildwood
Another domino has fallen!
aaaggghhhh this place is falling apartttttt
Say goodbye 👋 to famous Wildwood Boardwalk Statue🥺
Wildwood is slowly but surely going down...stayed there for 25 years...not likely returning soon
Ya I don’t care 😒
I mean you must care a little if you watched the video and commented lol
I mean what’s the point of it like we do have the moreys archway like that should be good enough
But ok your right
