- In this video we go over some unique bed/couch layouts that makes full use of the limited amount of space in campervans or RV's to give you some vanlife bed ideas. We also talk about how we have our top bed in a happijac bed lift system and our couches underneath that can also convert into a bed allowing us to sleep 4 people. i have seen all the different configurations and the one that makes the most sense is the happy jack system. The others waste alot of space and dont stow away well Yes you can store things under the bed but the bed has to stay stationary for most of the time I think you did the best selection overall Maybe there is a better way but so far I havent seen it

Love the idea of a lifting bed especially making use of the space underneath. We will be going with the happijac system in our van. Do you think that the bed lift rails can be oriented front and back instead of side to side? We will likely have flares and not sure if I'd cover over them with the rails. Any insight is greatly appreciated 🙏

i love the idea of the lift bed... as far as head room when bed is lift up,.. not so spacious for standing, I wonder if the part section roof can be raised size of the bed which probably another cost again. :)

Just got a 06 gmc savanna denali.
Love the van except...the bed is more like 2 captains chairs hooked together. Comfortable to sit in not.so much when flat. Dont think im the only one not happy about that non feature.
Any thoughts of what i can.do wothout removing bed and putting used one in. Costly and frustrating, as I cant do it myself.

Awesome vid thankyou I'm just putting together a plan. So I noticed your rear fan is blocked while the bed is up. Do you have two fans or pull the mattress back to access it? Thanks Jim
We have another fan but we can still use our fan/AC that's above our bed, we just lower the bed down part way so the air can flow out.

Agreed! Take a look at what's possible with inexpensive Linear Actuators. You will need one for each corner of the bed frame.

You mention some of the downsides of your setup. What about the Ac being blocked during the day? Unless you are chasing good weather, is that an issue for you?

I really like your set up the best especially with the lagun table. Lots of room for people to sit around and not a huge hassle to make the bed❤️
If the motor fails or you don't have electricity, is there a way to manual crank the bed up and down? And, does the bed/happi jack combo rattle while driving on smooth or rough roads?

Rear beds are terrible layouts. Murphy beds are the best! If you put it in the front you have the whole back for the bathroom.
