Isn’t it great to have someone to blame for your own poor choices?? Most today know the reality of too much fat, sugar, etc., in our food. Yes, she screwed up regarding her racial remarks-no excuse this day and age, but don’t blame her for your own weight and/or diabetes issues-that’s all on you. She didn’t force anyone to eat or cook her recipes.

Antisocial Gamer, I was not judging her, simply acknowledging that yes, she shouldn’t have said what she did. I don’t disagree with you, but coming from a family whose roots are in Kentucky, I also acknowledge that old biases die hard and often come out in our words before our “filter” kicks in and helps break old habits. One side of my family was extremely biased against people of color - thankfully, the other side taught me that we all look alike when you take off our protective covering known as our skin. Humanity is humanity. ‘Nuff said. :-)

All of her business associations & allegations may be true but as far as her diabetic diagnosis & health, that should be private. Exactly! I get very annoyed with people who complain about someone else like thst! “Oh she’s fat why is she eating fried food” “she shouldn’t have a show to cook such unhealthy food” the we I see it is you’re not interested in the way she cooks, DONT WATCH IT! her own health is personal and has nothing to do with teaching others to cook southern style comfort food, she’s not responsible for the health of others!! She’s not claiming to have a healthy lifestyle cooking plan” ..people these days are quick to criticize others for the piece of sawdust without checking their own eye for a PLANK of wood! That little girl in her car seat in the viral video a few years back had the best message I’ve ever heard! “Worry about yourself!” When did we (as a society) stop minding our own business?? If she ever claimed that cooking like her was the way to a lean healthy lifestyle that would be different but she’s NOT ..she makes comfort food everyone enjoys at some point..don’t like it, don’t watch! You really should go online and listen to her on the "Big J Show". When asked about her thoughts on the tragic death of Chef Carl Ruiz in late September, Paula made a really tasteless joke about how the business will kill you. She then cackled at her own joke: no class! Don't feel sorry for her: she's not the demure Southern belle that she purports herself to be. Shame on Paula Deen, twice. And PS: I'm sorry she has Agoraphobia: I know how crippling it is because I have it, too. But I can't leave my house, nevermind be on TV or Radio shows, and I've never used this to glean sympathy from anyone, or to exonerate myself from mistakes I've made. Paula needs to take accountability for her actions. RIP Chef Carl

I have been 2 both her Savannah & Pigeon Forge Restaurants, and they were great. Better than that though, I met her at a conference in Foxboro, Massachusetts about 10 years ago. She and her husband Michael were 2 of the nicest individuals I ever met. They were gracious, kind, and funny. Since I had always enjoyed her shows and liked her, I made it a point to observe her for quite a while before introducing myself. She was very down to earth and genuine, and interacted with everyone, regardless of what color they were. She signed autographs and took pictures, shared laughs & stories with people, and again, was very genuine. It was nice to see, because I've met numerous celebrity chefs and bakers, and they are very different than their on screen persona (Bobby Flay, Giada, Ina, Duff to name a few). So before you judge people just know, that things get embellished a lot, and Paula didn't deserve what happened.

Turns out a disgruntled white female employee expected Paula to support her over Paula's brother. The whole scam and publicity awarded an undisclosed dollar value to the woman. The case then dropped from sight as Paula career was left tattered. Many businesses have a fund for frivolous lawsuits. Appears it pays.

My husband & I were traveling through the Southern States for work, we went to “The Lady & Sons Restaurant!” We visited Savannah for a few days It was amazing, then we went to her Restaurant she had with her brother! It was amazing too. This story is a whole lot of twisted lies, just go read the deposition about the woman that brought this suit against her, she lost the lawsuit & was a disgruntled employee that wanted full access to their bank accounts! When she didn’t receive full access to their bank accounts so she decide to do this to them. Notice no one told that the woman lost that lawsuit!!

I read the whole deposition, not just her testimony. In it the disgruntled employee was questioned on many things & finally admitted the reason she filed the lawsuit was because they wouldn’t give her access to their accounts to write all the checks! She said she wanted to run the whole company & was upset because she couldn’t get them to do that...then she decided to sue because supposedly the brother had made advances towards her. Which didn’t bother her until she didn’t get access to their bank accounts! I wouldn’t have given that to anyone when I worked so hard to get where they were. Then all this was twisted into a race issue! Ridiculous if you ask me greedy, jealous & lying cheats! They should have gotten rid of that lady long before she did all this!

Her bad for not lying in court? She admitted that in a talk with her ex-husband she used the worst word she could to describe a guy who pointed a gun to her head in a bank robbery causing the Agoriphobia/PTSD. She's the only one in the world who's done that? Court deposition shows her words were also twisted on the waiters issue. She's a scapegoat example in 're-educating' the public on new politics. A bit of research shows the many ways used to frame her.

What is good hearted to hire middle aged black men dress up as black servants at her brothers wedding that PAULA planned? Even IF her brother asked for that, Paula should have told him that is highly offensive. It’s not a snowflake thing, it’s a blatantly RACIST act to commit.
Please help me understand why that kind of behavior makes a “good person.”
I’m not black, I’m the whitest person in America but I know better than to do this.

I've never understood those, who were complaining regarding her using 2 sticks butter, for example. Just use 1 stick, it's simple as that, if you would like to try some of her recipes. To me, I love her personality first and won't cook most of her recipes. There is nothing personal, it's just not my cup of tea. But I did try some of her recipes back then and one of them was with okra. She doesn't come across as haterfull person at all. I am pretty good on reading people even through the monitor. :) God bless!

This video really UNDERSTATED how Paula's fame was baded upon recipes that were not HERS but were from her cook, DORA CHARLES.
In fact, this video went out of it's way to go around this point by not introducing Dora Charle's presence until much later in the video despite the fact that Dora was Paula's cook at the Best Western 22 years prior. That out of sequence mention put a distance between the facts in hopes that no one would notice that Paula didn't gain any popularity as a chef UNTIL she hired DORA as a COOK at the Best Western. WONDER WHY THAT IS????? Because it was Dora's recipes that Paula leaned on to gain popularity and make money - NOT her own and while paying Dora $10 an hr and calling everyone who looked like Dora the N word, she was the one that was making all of the money.
I also noticed that there was no mention of how Paula not only wanted black men to dress up as slaves for a pre-civil war party (you know....back in the good ol' days back when it was ok to hold other people captive?) but also kept asking black women in her employ to go outside dressed up as Aunt Jemima (aka a slave) and ring a bell signaling the opening of the restaurant!
    Soul-less.
So I really don't care that the only people that will talk to her is FOX or that she is no longer seen as the darling of the food industry. At the end of the day, her declarations of having "Worked hard" is questionable when all she had to do was DUPE the real cook out of her ancestral recipes and then DUPlicate them for a profit that only SHE and HER FAMILY received.

There are truly horrid people out there. Paula Deen isn’t one of them. She’s flawed and did some bad things. And she did some meh things. And she did some good things. And how many of us can look at ourselves and say “I’m so much holier than thou art.” I think so much of the current trend to outrage and opprobrium is nothing more than “front pew” syndrome. Take a breath and look in the mirror. Please. Let’s be kinder and stop judging everyone perpetually on their worst moments.

From a 2013 news story titled Deep-Fried Discrimination Claim: Lisa T. Jackson v. Paula Deen: Following the dismissal of the entire lawsuit, Jackson released the following statement, "I assumed that all of my complaints about the workplace environment were getting to Paula Deen, but I learned during this matter that this was not the case. The Paula Deen I have known for more than eight years is a woman of compassion and kindness and will never tolerate discrimination or racism of any kind toward anyone."

Who hasn't said something really dumb in their past? Who hasn't had a prejudiced thought pass through their mind at one point or another? Especially people that grew up in a time where society was saturated with prejudice. No one can say they've _never_ made an assumption based off of stereotypes or what they have learned from societal norms. Does that make it right? No. Does that excuse bad behavior? No. But let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Everyone says dumb, hurtful things sometimes. What's important is that we learn from the mistakes and grow from it, become better people because of it. When you make a mistake, don't you try to do better? Don't you want people to forgive you? It's better to forgive than to hold a grudge. Paula made some mistakes, but she's learned from them. It's time to forgive her and stop propagating so much hate.

The racism is terrible, but apparently there is some other context in which the word was used, of which I'm not privy. However, the timeline of events makes it look as if she had enemies who went in for a take down. Dora Charles was a grown woman. You mean to tell me that she didn't have the sense or strength to say, now that you're famous, I need more money or you can kiss my ass? She had to wait for the reporters and bear her soul? No, something is wrong with the story.

I think Paula Dean was treated poorly. There are so many out there that are jealous of successful women and delight in tearing them down. She built her business with her hard work and sacrifices. We all make mistakes that we regret let those that are sinless cast the first stone! She had been treated horrible and those that helped destroy her should be ashamed but they probably are gleefull, It's just bred in them, their nature...
