@@DrAndreaFurlan I have been diagnosed with “chronic pain” for about 20 years. In my experience (USA & UK) “chronic pain” is simply 24/7 pain & NOT psychological pain as you stated. What is correct? I know that pain doctors “don’t like to treat the MRI” but I’m one of those patients who’s pains can easily be predicted by looking at my scans, my damaged spine, discs & nerves explain my pain. Should I stop saying that I suffer from “chronic pain” when talking to doctors in England? (My problems started while I lived in the USA & I’ve only recently returned to live in England.
Very glad to get this information. I get so frustrated trying to explain my pain that I flounder around looking for the words I want to use. If I rehearse this method at home and carry notes, I believe it would relieve some of the stress and awkwardness I feel and help the doctor understand what information I’m trying to convey to them, making it easier to get treatment I need. Here in FRANCE...we have only 15 minutes to explain...not 1 seconde..more...I am a patient ....it s really frustating for me... and if you want continue the conversation...you have to take an other appointement...and you have often 1 week..To WAIT...
Hi found the best thing to do is to get a scan that way you will find where the pain is coming from you know what they say scans don't lie have a good on
Hi Maura, I disagree with you. Bone scans, MRIs, X-rays do not show where the pain is coming from in the majority of patients. We use those tests after we do a pain history and physical exam if necessary. It is a wrong idea to think that imaging tests will show where the pain is coming from.
@@DrAndreaFurlan when I got my scan the doctor told me that scans don't lie that was after the 1 operation then got scan to see what was going on that was I got told then had 2 operation took 1year to get back to myself that was 2 operation in 11 days had lumber trouble in my back still have now I am getting very good treatments from the pain doctor life is so much better tg so there is hope

I wouldn't have any confidence that, e.g., a "3" today and a "3" two weeks from now are the same thing, though. I can't compare the two directly and I don't have any fixed reference point to compare them indirectly.

Thanks for replying I am taking regular medicine but now it is not working as honestly as before so I wanted to get some advice from you. I used to work before medicine but now it is not working.
The 0-10 severity scale seems like a test of your imagination. I can imagine some pretty awful things...
I wouldn't have any confidence that, e.g., a "3" today and a "3" two weeks from now are the same thing, though. I can't compare the two directly and I don't have any fixed reference point to compare them indirectly.
