The secret here is to know that the CPU is programmed to walk forward while you're waking backwards so when you see them walk into your range you can hit them with several roundhouses and then punches. The only ones who occasionally break this pattern are Raiden and Kano who will, at certain ranges, do their Thunder Flight or Kano Ball. If you play with Sub-Zero, you can hit the ice ball when the opponent is getting up from a knockdown so one knockdown is enough to beat a whole round. In south korea, Raiden's superman move scream is usually referred as '살림받아래'(roughly pronounced Sal-Lim-Bah-Dah-Rei). The phrase itself has a meaning of 'Take my home-belongings', which is funny, because the move itself looks like he's putting away something with his hands while flying towards someone, so it fits with the misheard very well.
No my friend these are the 3/4 scale machines made by Arcade1up. This particular cab goes for around 800 tax included brand new in Canada. Even cheaper in the States apparently AND you could easily get one used off marketplace or elsewhere.
When i finished school in New Zealand early 90s aged 10 in 1996 I used to walk to the local takeaway food store that had this on arcade i would stand there and watch guys play and i found the game play graphics and the fatalities quite interesting and loved it since. Im no gamer as i cant play to save my life, but I do enjoy watching the pros play. Keep it up man
There is def a pattern with all these characters. I used work at a used video game store and this was the only arcade we had in the shop set to hard. Johnny Cage was my guy and multiple jumping low punch was a great offensive move to keep them on the fence and wear them down. And I believe you can catch them on the way down after a jump kick with a shadow kick. Man, I miss this game. Thank you for bringing back the memories with this play through. 🤙

even though im young, ive always been a huge fan of the originals and mk in general. Ill never forget the time me and my cousins actually found an MK1 arcade cabinet in this "fun park", and, combining some knowledge I had from inputs from other MKs, I guessed sub zero's classic head rip fatality in front of a group of kids. what a moment for 12 year old me lol. Great vid btw man

Fun fact about them: they were also the least selected characters in MK1 cabinets around the world which is why they weren't brought back as playable in MKII. You may have known that already but I found that interesting.
Really enjoy watching these videos. Really must revisit some of these games again. I remember on the SNES that Goro had absolutely no answer to jumping backwards into the corner and spamming him with flying kicks he just walked into them repeatedly and from watching you fight him there it might well work in the arcade version too. Best bet with Shang Tsung is to try and get the pattern of fireballs down and try and duck them and wail on him when he shapeshifts he always seemed a bit easier when he did that he's a pain in his own form can't sweep him either that's really shady programming.
7:30 how'd you go from losing to Sonya then suddenly fighting subzero and having the whole ascending roster change of who you were fighting? I guess part one changes everything when you change characters after you lose?
It’s because of the “mirror match” after. Because I was fighting Sonya before, but then chose her character to use after dying, it wasn’t time for her mirror match yet, thus changing the order.
Do you like the new version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3? The plus version? I've got it on my arcade and its like 1995 all over again. Nice playthrough btw!
Awesome game! Just started watching your MK-videos a couple of days ago, and have enjoyed them alot! I have fond memories of playing MK on my Amiga 500 back in the 90s. Although the Arcade version is a bit smoother and better looking, I really miss the music and the fatality-hymn that the Amiga version had. It was so boomy and ominous..
I loved the gibberish in MK4 as well lol. A lot of the original MK devs were latinos and knew Spanish, so they threw in a lot of funny Spanish gibberish when fighters pulled out their weapons. Another fun fact, the original Johnny Cage actor was Mexican-American (Daniel Pesina). He and his brother Carlos are both legit longtime Kungfu practitioners.
I’ve listened to some podcasts where they explain their stories and it’s really interesting stuff. The podcast channel is Kamidogu I believe, the hosts I found weren’t the greatest at giving interviews but the stories Carlos Pesina and especially Richard Divisio tell are really nostalgic and awesome. Anyways, thanks for your comments 👊🏼
There's a fun exploit in the master system version of the goro fight where you can just stunlock him with punchs for a while until he smacks you. Then you just jump in and do it again and again. It was rather hilarious
How many times that arcade cabinet screen was punched back in the day over this game battling friends and computer alike I cannot count haha. Nothing like the OG MK to me. I loved MK2 as well, but had way more time with this as far as arcade gaming goes. And another thing is I love the Shang fireball sound effect.
There’s no difference except the aspect ratio on the 30th Cab is 5:4 which means the characters are slightly slimmer and taller whereas the Legacy Cab is 4:3. I enjoy playing on both equally with the exception of online which is only avail on the 30th and new Deluxe cabs.
How would you feel about doing a MK4 playthrough? Were you into the MKs move to 3D back then or did you feel it tried too hard? I genuinely wanted to see every ending and fatality in that game but once I did I never went back to it. They really dropped the ball on having only one stage fatality in that game. The stage fatalities were always what I looked forward to seeing most. Also, speaking of stage fatalities, if you do Liu Kang's fatality on the Pit in MK1 it suddenly becomes one of my favorites in the whole game!
Oh yeah, I’m a big fan of Liu fatality in the pit stage just because of the bottom. As for MK4, I enjoyed it, didn’t see it in the arcade much back in 95 however I did play the heck out of it on the Dreamcast. Looking back I definitely didn’t like it as much as 1-3 but I was addicted to games therefore the was still addicted to it. There’s currently no Arcade1up MK4 cabs so unless they release it, I won’t be making any vids playing it.
Aren't there two? Throw into fan and Goro's lair spikes. Both are meh though. @@BushyStallion the Dreamcast version is better than arcade as it adds more characters, robots, female ninjas and Baraka. There's just a bug where older print of the disc doesn't save game and had other minor bugs, so you need 1.1 version.
Letting them all walk into a spinning roundhouse at the right time was the way to cheese the game, which more or less carried through to MK2 with a few caveats, and then in MK3 they introduced running which screwed that cheese strategy up.
I appreciate it. Something about MK 1 2 and 3 in particular always brings back good memories of the early and mid nineties for me so I’m glad I’m able to share that with people who wanna relive some of those memories also. Thanks again for watching my friend 👊🏼
I was good at Killer Instinct when it was in the arcade. I was decent when it came out for SNES. I’ve played a few times on Xbox One. Now… I’ve forgotten so much of that game, it would be interesting to see if I could still hold up. The only version I currently own is the Xbox One version but apparently it’s exactly like the arcade AND the version Arcade1up uses in their machines. So hopefully in time, I’ll play.
@@BushyStallion I've only ever played the original killer instinct so if that's the version you're talking about it, I'm all in. I absolutely adore that game. Tho I don't really play much fighting games, that, super street fighter 2, MK2 and 3 were just about it. But I'd love to see your take on them
Don't mention it!!! yeah it's tricky and hard to describe how difficult it is i gradually get better but more times than not i get pissed at Shang shung😂😂😂😂!And yeah ...I can't do it on one credit that's for sure!!!
GG don’t now how many megadrive controllers I went through back in the day mashing those buttons always had to bring my own when I went to a mates place to play cause I had a reputation. I always here raider say “I need more money”
I hear “I need more money” in my head constantly. But that’s a different story lol my brother used to destroy controllers on the regular. I had to eventually act like I was trying but lose to calm him down. Good times. Lol
Mortal Kombat I & II are the ONLY MK games I like. Why? Cuz they both look like real life digital characters. Every iterations after that, they look robotic and CGI especially how they walk...that turns me off. Although later versions are more gross with fatalities and more animated, they're not the same. They're like video games where as MKI and II look like real life people to me...that's how I see it. It's ironic that with today's technology, they still can't produce a REAL LIFE looking characters in a MK video game.
Can’t beat the CRT’s. I still play UMK3 at a local arcade in all its old school glory, I dunno the size of the CRT in it but it does make everything look better.
Good stuff man. Yeah MK1 was the gauntlet. Midway was after those quarters for real haha. They got them too, that's for sure. Made somewhere around $300,000,000 right? That's still wild to think about 🤔

Do you like the new version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3? The plus version? I've got it on my arcade and its like 1995 all over again. Nice playthrough btw!
I’m not familiar with a plus version? I’ll have to check it out 👊🏼 thanks for the comment my friend
@@BushyStallion You're welcome!
Gonna have to check out some videos on MK on the Amiga it sounds awesome! Thanks for the comment and support my friend, you rock 👊🏼
Loving all the MK videos.
Thank you 👊🏼
Video about hidden characters in MK 1, please?
Pure nostalgia love it!!👍
I loved the gibberish in MK4 as well lol.
Bruh I read that comment in the other video just now n u posted this vid what coincidence been loving ur content after u pop up in my feed
I appreciate that my man 👊🏼
There's a fun exploit in the master system version of the goro fight where you can just stunlock him with punchs for a while until he smacks you. Then you just jump in and do it again and again. It was rather hilarious
Im glad you did this video! I read that comment and really hoped you'd do it. Enjoyed every minute, liked the commentary a lot too though
Good memories I’m sure 👊🏼 and yeah that scream from Shangs fireball is demonic and sounds awesome!
how are you getting a “free shot” during an endurance match?
As soon as the second opponent jumps in use a special move on them. They don’t move for a second and it will always hit them 👊🏼
I always heard “summy summy gah” from Raiden
I heard “Aya babba dah!” and “gizzi gizzi gizzah!”
Do you prefer to play solo MK1 on the 30th or Legacy? Or is there no difference?
There’s no difference except the aspect ratio on the 30th Cab is 5:4 which means the characters are slightly slimmer and taller whereas the Legacy Cab is 4:3. I enjoy playing on both equally with the exception of online which is only avail on the 30th and new Deluxe cabs.
Keep making these! Very entertaining!
I would want to see you do a tour around you game room i like those my game room is not the best but i do like my mortal Kombat games
Hey brother i am new to your channel. I would enjoy a Raiden. Mk 1 playthough if you already did that then I’m sorry.
Man i got the mini arcade of this 🙌🏽👊🏽
Raiden : I Need My Monayyy 😂
I need my monaaay! I like it lol
Letting them all walk into a spinning roundhouse at the right time was the way to cheese the game, which more or less carried through to MK2 with a few caveats, and then in MK3 they introduced running which screwed that cheese strategy up.
Would you upload one facing MK1 Reptile ? I really enjoy your commentary btw :)
Believe me if I can ever get that opportunity I will. The requirements to fight him are insane on the arcade, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try.
You actually did it ! Appreciate the upload and look forward to the future
I been marathoning these vids lately
I appreciate it. Something about MK 1 2 and 3 in particular always brings back good memories of the early and mid nineties for me so I’m glad I’m able to share that with people who wanna relive some of those memories also. Thanks again for watching my friend 👊🏼
First time seeing SubZ fatality at a arcade, made my jaw dropped and don't remember my jaw closing at age of 14 😮
Lol it blew my mind
No doubt, the sound of all the people there sounded like 'doing a uppercut in mk1'
When is the 'Paperboy' play-through dropping?
Would love to see some killer instinct videos
Hard Agree!
I agree too :)
But I'd love to see your take on them
In mk2 I interpret Raiden as saying “I got a job” and “Dig it”
Awesome!!!i ve been waiting for the very first one,the one that started it all 🎉🎉🎉!!!nice to see poor Kano get some time in the spotlight!!!
I was surprised I did it lol my palms were sweating lol thanks for watching Tasos 👊🏼
Don't mention it!!! yeah it's tricky and hard to describe how difficult it is i gradually get better but more times than not i get pissed at Shang shung😂😂😂😂!And yeah ...I can't do it on one credit that's for sure!!!
Mortal Kombat The Best Video Game. 👀 👍🏾 Fatalitys
I love these videos man, Keep ‘em coming :)
Good times. Lol
Get a video where you defeat Reptile please 🦎
Jump kick works best if you first jump back, not walk. Otherwise the jump kick will most likely be blocked
The first MK is way easier to 1CC than MKII or UMK3. The first MK3 isn't too bad. MK3 Kano design was BAD@$$! Love the black/red.
awesome stuff man!
Would you be interested in playing as Shang Tsang morphing into all the characters you're good in?
Yeah!! We need more MK1 content 💪
I follow you man, I like your videos and the MK sagas are my favourites, especially the arcade trilogies. Thanks for your game👍
Sweeet!!! MK1 let's go! I appreciate you playing for your fans. Lmao ptsd from getting whooped in the 90's😅 Great video 📹
Oh the stress is real 😂
You can do a jump punch on Goro for the entire match. Just stay in the same spot, and get in rythm.
What difficulty do you tend to play on? Or does it depend on witch MK game you are playing? Great vids 👍
I have them all set to hard. There is “very hard” though. Might have to switch to that.
I completely understand what you’re saying. None will ever compare to 1 and 2 in my opinion also
it would be great to have a CRT monitor in that machine, so you'd see the characters more human-like
Can’t beat the CRT’s. I still play UMK3 at a local arcade in all its old school glory, I dunno the size of the CRT in it but it does make everything look better.
@@BushyStallion is it true that size doesn't matter in a CRT? i mean the characters look like humans even if it's 40" ?
Good stuff man. Yeah MK1 was the gauntlet. Midway was after those quarters for real haha. They got them too, that's for sure. Made somewhere around $300,000,000 right? That's still wild to think about 🤔
The real MK1 lol
