Well, I like that even before the "Welcome to Mira" cutscene Elma says to Cross " you don't remember your own planet" rather than "you don't remember our own planet" or "you don't remember Earth". Seems to me that they purposefully went with the "your own" to hint that Elma is not from Earth.

The amount of giveaways she gives in the beginning I expected to hear near the end is just amazing
Like as you're asking about Earth in Chapter 1, she wonders if she hadn't been there everything would have been normal
      And I'm here like
"Okay so Elma is definitely not human, got it.

And then they continue this same bit of foreshadowing throughout the whole entire game by having Elma consistently dodge around referring to humanity as "we" or "us"
It's really impressive on the translators' parts, honestly. It's hard enough doing that in your own language, let alone while interpreting someone else's

To be honest, the one scene where you fight Lao is probably a better example
Elma: I never understood why humans separate themselves off. By race, class, religion, country, age. As if that matters in the end. On a genetic level, the differences are insignificant
Lao: No. Not insignificant. Not to humans. *But really, how could you understand, Elma.*

The original japanese "word" for 'starchart' Xenoblade X used is 航宙図. (Kouchuuzu) This isn't really an existing word in itself, but its intent is clear through strucutral similarities to other words. I'll go into detail below in the 'read more...' section, but it's specifically a chart for _navigating_ the stars. Also. Japanese Elma is just far less subtle in hinting at being an alien that in English. She doesn't flat out tell you, but she may as well have.
Anyway, regarding the word for starchart, let's reference some similar words: 航空 (koukuu) is travel by air, 航空機 (koukuuki) is a machine that allows for that, i.e. a plane. 航海 (koukai) is travel over sea, 航海図(koukaizu) is a map, chart or diagram that allows for that, i.e. a sailing chart. 航宙図 (kouchuuzu) is basically 航海図(koukaizu) with the symbol that represents the sea swapped out, not with 空, air, but with 宙 (chuu) which is the second symbol of 宇宙 (uchuu) which basically refers to space, or the universe. It may not be an existing word in and of itself, but it clearly denotes a map or chart that allows or helps you to travel the stars.
I think 'starchart' is a good approximation for that, even if the purpose of using it for travel isn't as explicit. But your first example of a sci-fi hologram is actually closer to the intent they were going for than the literal star*gazing* chart you discuss. Elma didn't slip up here, mixing up Earth terminoligy with Intergalactic idiom, but just specified that she meant it in the interstellar sense up front. Considerring humanity has just spent two years travelling through space themselves, I wouldn't even read this as a hint towards Elma's alien nature, as we'd have those charts as well by this point.

Cool, but seeing as how Elma did help bring advanced tech to Earth, and given the massive exodus for they had to prepare, it stands to reason Earth's usage and definition of "star charts" would be critical. thus, her statement about Mira SHOULD make sense from a human perspective. But again, good analysis and I'm impressed anyone caught such an acute detail. Reminds me of Elma mentioning she often doesn't understand turns of phrase when Vandham calls her a stick in the rear lol.

@@ogeid772 manga is really good! It's got a lot of cool mysteries, and handles it's conflicts and pacing masterfully. this is probably not saying much, but it's one of the few series where it's actually gotten me to read the manga.
just so you know, the anime while still enjoyable, takes out some of the foreshadowing out of the first season, and has an anime original ending. IMO it's like a teaser for the much more complete manga

Your missing something major in here: Star Charts ARE a map of the night sky, but it goes deeper then just OUR night sky! Over 100 years ago, there was a group of women at Harvard University who's job was to use telescopes and specific filters to determine the chemical makeup of stars, and count the number of times the star 'dims' in a set period of time, to determine the number of planets around that star. This research was so major, that they mapped out 10 of thousands of possible earth-like planets (based on the presence of liquid water, and atmosphere composition that could be detected as a planet passes in front of its sun)! Much of our present knowledge of the universe came from the many years and hard work of these women, and those star charts they made are STILL used today by NASA! So no, our knowledge of the stars and our star charts are used for a LOT more then navigation within our world, and our understanding of the universe goes far deeper then the holographic syfi star charts your talking about! lmao
Fun fact: There was even a movie made about these women called "Hidden Figures"

Funnily enough the only reason this doesn't blow elma's cover is because
Cross(player character)is no more human than she is
(The Lifehold was almost immediately trashed in its crash losing all its functionality and data)and that raises the question of what's animating any of the mimisomes(mimisome consciousness are supposed to be managed by the lifehold)nevermind the player who should be an empty husk

XCX is literally Elma's story, and it's written in plain sight in the title: She is the Xeno BLADE!
Those games have all been about an actual xenoblade, and in this one, it's actually Elma.
It was told right in the title from the very beginning that Elma is a xeno...
