$750M is certainly a lot of money, but more has been spent on things less valuable in our history. The finish and opening will be a memorable day not just for France, but for the entire world.
Anyway, the restoration cost is mostly funded by our local billionaires. So not much debate actually :)
True, but since it has such strong religious, and historic ties to Paris, and the rest of Europe, I'm sure it could be considered a drop in the bucket.
Can't believe it has been 5 years already.
They need to have a special mass before the opening of the Olympics
So impressive….. That’s was an insane amount of work
There were people willingly coming out of retirement and offering to come in to work after the tragedy. Master craftsman that'd been retired sometimes for decades. They wanted to restore it to its original glory. Absolutely gorgeous workmanship. Very excited to see it when it's done. There's an interview with some of the craftsman and it's really interesting what lengths they went to to uphold it's original designs.
Hope to visit once again
Beautiful ❤🇫🇷🙏
God's work is done, he is pleased 🙏🙏
"God" put no work or financial support into this. He was completely absent - and not missed - during the fire and reconstruction.
Have a safe and interesting week. 😑
@@TheStockwell You must be an atheist, Because God is the reason you exist today, now go tell me you did that yourself?
Both Sagrada Familia and Notre Dame were under renovations when I visited in 2012, I was told it was an ongoing thing for both of them, so no one would have been surprised if it was still being renovated 50 years from now. There's a bridge here in Louisiana that's very famous called the Hale Bogs bridge and as long as I've been alive, I know of very few times it wasn't under construction.
Europe,, you see a stack of scoffolding and it is a Cathedral or other significant building. Constant maintenance and renovation.
I was there in 2017 and a lovely building,,, with scaffolding. The renovations which seem to have been the source of the fire.
There is also a Notre Dame cathedral in Bayeux in the Normandy area which appears to be actually older. Large but not as large as the one in Paris. Unusually there is no scaffolding around it.
From what I understand Bayeux has been the alternative capital of France during the inevitable wars that have happened for ever
@@ldnwholesale8552 like that bridge I referenced, it's a constant money grab and has little to do with actual maintenance. That bridge was built knowing the cables that held it up were defective, it's a goddamn suspension bridge, meaning it's not anchored to anything significant and it's held up by the cables, the same company that knowingly built it with defective cables won the bid to repair it... Louisiana...half the state is underwater, the other half is or should be under indictment.
La Sagrada Familia is not under renovation, is still under construction, it was never finished to begin with.
@@cs2181 ioknow, but 142 years seems like a long time for a construction project either way.
@@peryolewait until you hear that some cathedral have taken 400years to complete 😂
The same but on an enormous scale. So, it is NOT the same!
just make sure no construction worker smokes at Notre Dame again
Yes, please 😅
They should not but they could do it technically because they have installed several anti -fire systems including compartmentalizing the frame with metal parts to avoid the spread of fire and also foggers among other things so that it does not start again.
How amazing!!!❤😊🙏 It is simply beautiful 😍❤
Restoring a legacy to the world!!! ❤😊🙏🥲
Seems like you've just discovered emojis.
@@JayAlba8 No.... there's just nothing wrong with a little bling! Why just plain typing when there can be pictures? 🤔 I don't really like the tiny people ones though.
Let’s just hope that they remember what it was look like when it was on fire
Who and where housed Quasimodo all of this time?!!🧐
Even in USA Jurnalist can't manage to give precise informations, unbelievable !
No she is not "nearly" finish, the stage III of rebuilding is ALMOST finished and will be on December (Roof, Spire and masonnery). Afterward stage IV will start and will be completeted at the end of 2027.
The Cathedral can be limitedly reopen on December but there is still a lot of finishing jobs to do on stage IV
Meanwhile in Rouen...
So sad that it just has been burning again just few days later. Who is responsible for this?
I think you're confusing with Notre Dame Cathedral in Rouen, where a small portion of the spire (highest in France btw) caught fire but was quickly handled
Please tell me they are not planning a bunch of fireworks or pyrotechnics for the opening ceremonies
Thanks to Assassin’s Creed Unity's 3D model.
Go Irish!
Most of what is left is now for the stone masons. The recreation of the vaulted transept. Where every piece must be correctly cut and fitted ,or the entire transept ceiling will come crashing down. Then the temporary supports will need to be removed n this is when the prayers begin. Vaulted ceilings are notorious for failing in gothic churches. This is why it will take longer ,but the world wants it to be done correctly and not fail. Any French politician 5gat has a problem with this should find other work. Preferably digging ditches.
what a waste, and they used lead to rebuild it.....even thought there is still poisonous residue from the last time.
Sorry but our heritage is not for your pleasur
Well, the Olympics is not a religious event so thankfully they will not feature it. But as for tourists, they will be disappointed it is not ready.
For the French (and I bet many other people around the world), Notre-Dame de Paris is not only a religious building, it's also a symbol of Paris, and more largely France, showing the historical heritage of hundred of years ago!
Depecte - toi .
Trumps fault
🐵
DAS RITE!
DAS RITE!
Right and the world being set on fire is joe bidens fault...
Who are you going to blame when that city and every large city is leveled during ww3 are you still going to blame trump while your brutally murdering a 15 year old gun man?
Give it a rest, goofy. No-one cares about that bloated felon.
Have a safe and interesting week 😊
Rushing to complete the repairs, just for a bunch of narcissistic athletes who won't even notice; thats ridiculous.
Acquérez-vous une vie.
You are a moron
The opening is for december 2024. Nothing to relate with Olympic Games !
@@McCainnnexactly!
This is all a HUGE symbol, De Molay was burned in front of Notre-Dame, and now Notre-Dame is burned. The Templars typify the 10 original zodiacs (Tudor Rose) according to the Rosicrucians (each tribe was given a zodiac- so 10 lost tribes “Ephraim” = 10 kings of Revelation 17 reigning with the Vatican … the Masonic British crown is descended from the lost tribe of Ephraim according to the secret societies…) Hiram Abiff has a 9 stoned breastplate in Ezekiel 28, corresponding to the 9 masonic encampments surrounding the knights of Malta at the 32nd degree)
😂
@@TheStockwell another cathedral just caught fire in France too
£631,000,000 ... An absolute bargain and remarkable achievement by all the craftsmen involved. 👍 BTW James Longman, yes we know the River Seine flows through Paris. We are not bloody stupid.
JL stated the obvious, off with his head! Smug a-holes like you are insufferable boors who are to be kept at arm's length at all times.
