  • Rory finally understood the reason her father was missing while she was growing up. She hated him for it. Now that they have a chance to start over, she doesn't want it changed in any way. This left Lucifer so devastated.

The whole problem with Lucifer is he had abandonment issues. His father kicked him out. And now his own daughter is forcing him to do the same to her.

His father didn’t abandone him, Lucifer got jealous and lustful for power. He thought he could overthrow the throne of God. He knew the rules and rebelled. Everything you hate in the world is because of his lies. Don’t let a tv show make you forget that.

2: none of that makes sense at all considering that the Bible talks about how god only gave humans free will. Angles are bound by their creators plans according to the Bible. By the books own internal logic Lucifer can’t rebel against god unless god wanted him to and that would make it not really a rebellion. Literally all the bad shit in the world exists because of god according to the Bible and you dumbasses can’t even get the message when it’s literally in print. Once you realize that makes no sense you realize that the Bible’s just a bunch of incongruent bullshit.

    • @PardonSylver
      @PardonSylver 11 месяцев назад +121

@@elizabethurien3280I mean... Yeah. The show was hardcore copaganda so it makes sense that the last message it would give us is that "sometimes you have to do the hard thing for the good of everyone else."
But in all fairness it was the only logical way, and by that I mean for the character and the lore, for the show to end in a way that didn't feel forced. Which ironically was by FORCING Lucifer to end the way it did.
It was clear from Lucifer's characterization that he was most definitely unfit to ascend as the new God. All of his actions, for better or worse, have been fueled by some sort of self serving desire. (Don't get me wrong, all of the characters were like that. But Luci and his twin moreso than the rest) The only humans he feels any compassion for are Chloe, Ella, Linda and dubiously Trixie. His thing with Dan was more or less a frat bro relation turned guilt at having been involved in why Dan died.
Sure he has that thing where he "refuses to harm mortals", cut to all the people he's made go insane in the show, but that was more because it was God's rule for them. Not his own personal conviction. We know he's willing to fuck up a few people if they piss him off enough. Again, cut to all the people that have gone insane because of him. He protects what's his but fuck all else.
He only came to the conclusion that he did by the end of the show because he'd been forced to look at some twisted reflection of what he would've been if he had chosen to become the monster everyone wanted him to be. Looking at the worst version of himself if you will. A reflection of who he'd have become if he chose to embrace the positiom as the keeper of hell amd tormentor of the damned. Even then the revelation erred on the brink of self serving with how he acted like him "forgiving" the bastard that harvested Rory's feathers was an act of ultimate kindness.
Ultimately, Rory understood that Lucifer never would've had that moment of self discovery had he not been forced to see his daughter bloody, battered, and dying, for some weird reason. So she took it upon herself as the angel that wielded time to ensure the timeline stays as it is. To ensure Lucifer came to that conclusion. By using his own flaw against him. By forcing him to make a promise she knows he'll be unable to break.
And as Rory said "That's like a blip in our eternal existence." And she WAS right. As angels, their ageless forms would live on till the end of time unless some outside force interfered with that. Like Azrael's blade. When Chloe dies, she'd be able to be with Lucifer for the rest of that time as well. Whether she ends up in hell over the guilt of never telling Rory, or because the rules of Heaven and Hell were bent for them, we won't know. But we DO know that they can be together now.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that it was a cruel course of action but at the end of the day it's one of those things that are justified in fiction, do not do it in real life. In the show, everyone involved in the main cast knew that death wasn't the end, their souls would live on eternally either to enjoy the luxuries of heaven or to be tortured in hell. The main cast understood that they can makeup for a human lifetime apart when they both reach their eternal destinations. To them, the afterlife was real, they knew that, and they were willing to wait for it. For us, the afterlife may not exist. So while Rory's actions seem cruel to us, it was perfectly reasonable for the characters.

@@elizabethurien3280if they changed that, Rory wouldn't come to be as she was, creating a version who wouldn't come back to the past, or at least not in the same mindset, creating a time paradox. Also, erasing said version that did come back, kinda like overwriting a save file with a different one. Rory was the only one there who wasn't emotional, but rational. The situation would have always came down to this. The only difference if Rory didn't make him promise this would be, that Lucifer would have had to figure it out alone, rather than being told explicitly.
Other than Amenadiel, no angel is above time as far as I'm aware. And even he can't reverse it in the show, only slow it down/stop it.

But the ending - no, it's a big fat NO from me. I even think it would be better if they stopped on 5b. They really couldn't, google the consistency paradox also called the grandfather paradox. She went to the past to tell her dad that she hated that he missed her childhood then helped her dad realise what he was supposed to be doing with his existence, to undo one undo's the other. I'm not a fan of time travel in stories for this reason, you either don't keep consistency thus making it all crap or you end up with an unsatisfying ending because it's really hard to create a forward movement after a change.
The only way to do it would be while in the past create a video of her exact actions, and have that sent to a version of her self by chloe on her deathbed. This video/note would tell future her to go back in time and do all the stuff exactly how she says, with the last task being creating the note/video. The original version of her that went back would functionally cease to exist, however the new timeline her would be doing all those tasks simply to allow for the timeline to exist, this closes the loop.

Not to mention that the devil is not the embodiment of evil in the actual bible. They do treat the Devil as what he is, the punisher of Hell. Thats what he is. The embodiment of evol in the Bible was the dragon, although no one seems to care that the bible stated in Genesis the Devil, Lucifer, and The Dragon all in the same passage inside of Genesis, they only care about the Devil. Though that does suggest Lucifer and the devil are actually two seperate things according to the bible, but thats a whole other discussion. Whaaaaa? Lucifer was ultimately still selfish. He had his moments, and he'd learned to be genuinely caring, but he was still selfish. I mean he waged a war for the throne again and lost a sister (Remi). He then was like "yeeeah... I don't want it". True, he shouldn't have had it, but Amenadiel could've claimed it without bloodshed. There was actually an episode where he was trying to figure out to care for people he didn't know.
He learned sacrifice then, when he risked being completely erased to being Chloe back. Rory taught him to be selfless. He needed the surprise love of a child for that. If he was there as she was born and everything. He would've become more selfish. It's natural. A parent wants all the best for their child. That's how Michael and Luci got Amenadiel to not even want the throne. Amenadiel had to see the injustice in the world first hand to change his mind.
Lucifer then had to wrestle with the possibility of him becoming everything he hated in his father. He had to see Hell as a privilege, not a punishment. He accepted the throne out of love. Between Dan being stuck in Hell and Rory almost turning into a monster, even for a good reason. He sees the necessity of it all.
Time passes differently in Heaven and Hell. Chloe already got to spend who knows how long in Heaven with her dad after Michael killed her. She also has the comfort of knowing what's waiting for her. Her daughter, baby daddy and even the New Almighty can freely take her to Heaven when she wishes. Hell isn't horrible for her because it wasn't a punishment. She also becomes eternal at that point. As a family, they sacrificed a couple years so, eventually, all families could be reunited in Heaven instead of the vast majority suffering in hell for eternity.
This was actually the best ending they could give the show. It's a legitimate "And they ALL existed, happily, ever after."

Without it she wouldn’t be mad enough to learn her powers.
They would have died in the warehouse if they weren’t so angry because of her.
She can’t know about him till that time or it will all change and possibly not for the good.
The only thing that made me mad was that Trixie didn’t find out that he was the Devil and God.
That the strange man at the park was her Dad saying goodbye.

They wouldn't have even been in the warehouse if it wasn't for Rory coming back. So they still could have been together. They would have parented Rory and Trixie and lived their lives together as they always wanted to. Lucifer and Chloe work so hard to be together with through so much. So many trials. Separated them like this was just cruel. Very very cruel and heartless

    • @auntiem873

@@elizabethurien3280 - Rory will be parented by Lucifer. She will live a long time.
As The Angels we’re Gods Children.
Rory if the first of His kids. She is still very young and may not age any more.
She got to spend time with her mother and learn what it means to be Human. Something none of the other Angles got to do.
In time Chloe and Lucy may have more Children. She will be known as the mother of the new angels. A Goddess of … something.
So the time Rory spends away from her Dad could be seen as a night out compared to the length of time she will live.
But, she had to come into her powers. To do that, there has to be a trigger.
Then you have his promise to her (Rory) to never tell her the truth. Do not change anything because this moment she now understands her life.

I would absolutely love a series that at the very least used a genuine representation of the actual DC Vertigo line Lucifer Morningstar! And even better would be a bunch of series based on all Vertigo. Like Hellblazer (John Constantine), Shade The Changing Man, The Invisibles, Swamp Thing, Phantom Stranger, Sandman, Transmetropolitan, Black Orchid, to name a few.

    • @lindsayswarthout9227
      @lindsayswarthout9227 8 месяцев назад

I get that. But just because changing anything would mean changing everything doesn’t mean it was the only way. The characters chose the certainty of knowing things would turn out okay for the three of them, but the uncertainty wouldn’t have necessarily been worse. It is possible he could have realized his true calling and she could have gone down a good path in life, even without keeping everything the same. Even accepting that they chose the certainty of this time loop, it’s still a frustrating situation and for some people feels like a pretty abrupt ending for the series.
