HOT FUZZ Part 2 Movie Reaction (Edgar Wright is the best!)

My first time watching Edgar Wright's Hot Fuzz was so much fun. This movie is absolutely hilarious! You'll notice I had to break this into two parts. It was the only way to get it monetized. I've had a lot of trouble with Universal lately. My Shaun of the Dead reaction isn't even monetized. I hope you enjoy this reaction.

LOVE to ALL of you
British cops commended this movie for being the only police movie to accurately portray the ridiculous amount of paperwork involved in police work 🤣
The fellow who said, "I brought you into this world..." was the doctor who would have delivered Danny.
Thank you, I was about to say the same
The actor you also might remember as the guy who played Belloc (the archeologist who worked for the Nazis) in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
@@adampoll4977 Wasn't that the reverend?
@@lightyagami1752 Sorry, yes, you're correct. I mixed em up ;)
Maybe he had two dads?
If you notice, the chief's hat has VR on it, for Victoria Regina, (instead of ER for Elizabeth Regina, our current monarch), showing that Frank prefers the old ways of policing from the Queen Victoria's time.
I love how in the first half every question Danny asks Nicholas were all foreshadows of the second half.
When Stuart Wilson as Sanford’s Doctor Robin Hatcher says that he brought Danny into the world, it was because he would have been the doctor at his delivery. The items of news at the NWA meets are also about new babies underlining the joke about the doctor’s name being Hatcher.
In a movie full of amazing performances I think Timothy Dalton as Skinner has to be my favorite. It feels like he is just having a ton of fun every moment he's on screen
You can tell he relishes the chance to be an over the top villain, very reminiscent of Alan Rickman in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves! 😃
The way he tries to gouge Nick's eyes out in the model village bit echoes a moment in the prison fight in The Living Daylights, where Bond presses a set of handcuffs straight into a prison guard's face
He was hamming it up to Shatner levels.
In the UK holding what we here in the US would call a backwards peace sign up to someone is like us holding our middle finger up to someone. When I lived there for a short time the first pub my wife and I went to she asked for two drinks, holding her fingers up like that, and with a laugh she was politely suggested to hold two fingers up _forward_ if indicating two of something, LOL 😆
Thanks for the heads up! Yeah! I guess there are another couple American hanbd gestures 'innocent' hand gestures that mean entirely different things in other parts of the world. Some, are truly offensive! Ask your tour guide or an air sterwardress for some advice when you arrive in a new land. --just to make sure that you donh't upset anyone! 🙂
The third Cornetto movie is "The World's End."
That movie is awesome and hilarious as well 🤣 👌🏾
Thought the third one was Paul?
@@danielwhyatt3278 Nah. That wasn't an Edgar Wright film.
A fun reaction. I liked how a legitimate motive turned out to be a red herring, one of many in this movie.
There's no Hot Fuzz 2, but the Cornetto trilogy is completed by The World's End - please watch it! Lots of cameos. Two ones you may miss: The Father Christmas who stabs Nicholas was Peter Jackson and, continuing the Lord of the Rings theme, Janine (his ex) was Cate Blanchette. Also, the zombie like guy in the store was Edgar Wright!
After " atahe World's End " is a movie that is not Cornetto. It is " Paul ".
cuban fury... much underrated
7:42 999 is the British equivalent of dialing 911 for emergency calls
The doctor brought him into the world because he was the doctor, not the father
"So, you still headed to King's Landing to kill 'The Mountain?'" "Yaaarrrrp..."
It astounds me that people don't catch that he's the hound
@@joshritz7067 "Yarp..."
The police officer "twins" are played by Bill Bailey, a brilliant British (music-) comedian.
The "I brought you into this world..." guy was the village doctor, he delivered him.
The Third movie in the so called "Cornetto Triology" from Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg (with Nic Frost) is "The Worlds End".
They also made the 2 Seasoned short series "Spaced" which is awesome 😄 - the british original version at least, the US remake was a waste of time and resources, by all accounts.
Apparently they were discussing the casting of Skinner in pre production and the main note Wright and Pegg had was "Someone like Timothy Dalton" and because they couldn't think of someone similar enough they said "Why not ask Timothy Dalton?". They didn't expect him to even look at it but he loved the script and signed on immediately.
One hilarious detail I've always loved about this movie is when Danny asks Nick if he's ever done all the crazy stuff he mentions and by the end of the film they both wind up doing all those things, down to firing his gun up in the air and going "ahh!" lol
re 7:25 - remember on Nicholas's first day, when they were having lunch at the pub?
"Everyone and their MUM'S packing 'round here!"
"Like who?"
"Farmers."
"Who else?"
"Farmers' mums."
turns out.... 😁
Oh, and the "I brought you into this world" line was being spoken by the town doctor - i.e. the guy who probably delivered Danny when he was born. :)
The final film in this Cornetto trilogy is The Worlds End (2013) It's amazing too!
Quartet actually. Paul was their third film.
I'll be honest, I didn't care for world's end. I think hot fuzz is one of the most brilliant movies ever. I think they missed the mark with world's end, it's just not that funny.
@@jacobwalsh1888 It's a bit like Monty Python, Holy Grail and Life of Brian were brilliant but The Meaning of Life was not good at all... But some people absolutely love The Meaning of Life like they do with The World's End. I hate The Meaning of Life but love The World's End. Its what you're into I guess.
Three Flavours Cornetto film trilogy: Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013)
It's cool that each scene that references a scene from one of Danny's movies (such as Bad Boys 2) is also shot in the same style as that scene from that movie. Pretty clever. In fact this whole movie is very clever in the way it sets up and delivers jokes and story elements. Edgar Wright was going to be the director of the first Antman but apparently his vision did not align with Marvel's. I'd really love to see an Edgar Wright version of Antman.
@Miles Doyle Fuck are you on about?
@makadeni123 I've tried to force myself to read the whole comment several times out of sheer morbid curiosity, but it's genuinely impossible. Such unbelievable insanity, it feels generated by an algorithm that is malfunctioning.
@makadeni123 Really? Wow, good thing you told me! I dreamed I pulled off an amazing bank heist last night, and I was considering trying it out for real, but if the Jesus defense doesn't work I won't risk it. 😄
Not only was a Bond one of the bad guys but Edward Woodward, the original 80's Equaliser, was the bloke who set off the WWII mine at the end.
Didn't recognize Woodward, though it's been awhile since the Equalizer. Also I will always remember Timothy Dalton as the Prince of the Forest in Flash Gordon. Michael the trollyboy (yarp) was The Hound in Game of Thrones. I don't know if Mr Staker (guy with the goose) was in Harry Potter, but the mumbling old guy with all the guns was.
@@andypickle1584 Dalton was spot on as the Errol Flynn type action movie star in The Rocketeer.
he was also in the wicker man, which had a cult the NWA is a cult..
Woodward was also the doomed police officer in The Wicker Man ... about a cop that visits a remote scottish village and becomes the victim of a terrifying pagan ritual that the whole town is in on.
It's essential to watch this film at least ten times and every time there is more to realise something that hasn't been seen before. The nuance is unlike any film I have ever seen. For example, watching part one of this review there is a one second scene at the fare where two men are either side of the Doris and a roasting pig is in front of them. And in the early pub scene when they are talking about Sgr Poperwell and he says 'I have no intention of jumping into anyone's grave'. Jejejeje. Edgar Wright is a genius.
The brain freeze joke is one of my top jokes in cinema history. So perfectly timed.
The two-fingered salute goes back to the British Archers if the middle ages. They were so feared that enemies would cut off their bow fingers, hence the gesture saying, "I've still got mine!"
That’s not actually true.
He meant he brought him into the world because he's the local doctor that was probably there at his birth and brought him into the world. I thought that was quite obvious. Love the reactions love the channel xx
he borught him into the world ... and he was called "doctor" ... you figure it out xD
---"I brought you into this world!" was because the other guy was his family doctor, he delivered Danny at his birth.
---Paddy Considine who you thought was Timothy Dalton was the cop with the moustache who initially hated Nicholas.
---This movie was part 2 in the Cornetto Trilogy, all movies written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright and Directed by Edgar Wright. Shaun of the Dead was part 1 and The World's End is the final part. All three movies were based on movie tropes that featured in their TV show Spaced, Shaun was a zombie movie, Fuzz was a buddy cop movie and World's End is.. well I won't spoil it, but you'll like that movie if you liked these previous two.
England has some great directors atm Edgar Wright, Guy Ritchie, Christopher Nolan, Matthew Vaughn, Ridley Scott, Danny Boyle, Paul King, you should check out films by all these amazing directors!
I would call them British but each to their own I suppose.
And Kenneth Branagh. 🙂
@@krashdthey're English though...
Brilliant movie.....loved the watch along.....never seen you laugh so much Kazzy...great reaction.
Your laughter was great :) This is indeed a fabulous movie: great writing, great acting, great direction.... and just FUN.
Yes Timothy dalton was bond the big giy was the hound from game of thrones, and tje old man with the cctv was Edward Woodward ( the equaliser) 80s original version. Also i believe the old lady who owns the hotel was the evil nanny from the omen ( 70s )
A convincing attempt ... but you left out one CRUCIAL detail ...
Edward Woodward once played a normal police officer assigned to find a missing person in a remote Scottish village (sound familiar?) ...
The village seemed perfectly normal, but they were all in on a terrifying pagan ritual involving the sacrifice of somebody in their "Wicker Man" - he eventually gets trapped inside of the hideous-looking "Wicker Man" and burned alive.
Alton Towers' latest rollercoaster is themed to the "Wicker Man" - being made of wood as well, and using fire and smoke effects.
the "big guy" was also i believe the porridge oats guy from the tv ads of the same name, circa1980s/90s ?
@@bigsrg978 the big guy ? Do you mean the really talk guy working at the supermarket ? ( simple minded but very strong) you may be right im not sure but if so he was ,also in game of thrones as the hound ( sandor clegane ) i seem to remember him in a 90s television show as well , he played a wheelchair bound man , and he was in Oliver stone's Alexander. With colin Farrell.
You do all that paperwork and it gets blown to bits LOL.
By coincidence, this movie was filmed in the only small English town that I ever had time to explore to any great extent, Wells, in Somerset (before the movie was made). I love seeing it again every time I watch Hot Fuzz, and noticing the places I remember.
It is also Edgar Wright's home town! He even worked in the featured supermarket as a teenager!!!
@@phillipridgway8317 Good to know. My own connection with the town is that I was trained in cave exploration (in Mammoth Cave) by the son of Oliver Craig Wells (1931-2013), the latter the grandson of H. G. Wells. Oliver did pioneering cave diving in the mid 1950s in Wookey Hole Cave, nearby the town of Wells. (The family name of Wells is here a coincidence). I knew Oliver Craig in his retirement from IBM Thomas Watson Research Center in New York. Strange for a Kentucky boy like to find myself friends with the illustrious H. G. Wells family, but there it is.
The writing of this movie is sooo incredibly tight.
Every single line is either a joke, an easteregg, the setup for a joke or the payoff of an earlier setup.
The only thing missed was the Advanced Cycling
@@namelesssomebody2557that was a funny joke too since Nicholas is so serious and so dramatic as he says he does advanced cycling
I love the doctor and how he says " hopefully we won't see too much of each other" and he's barley in the movie lol
The priest is played by Paul Freeman, whom you might recognize as Belloq in Raiders Of The Lost Ark. :)
Timothy Dalton looks exactly the same in this as he did in Flash Gordon in 1980! 🤣
If you’ve enjoyed the Cornetto trilogy, you may enjoy its precursor; Spaced. It was a 12 episode series for the BBC created by Wright, Pegg and Jessica Stevenson, featuring Nick Frost.
They described it as The Simpsons plus Northern Exposure, with a dash of X Files. (Or something like that)
There was the Hound from game of thrones as "Yarp" as well as a whole host of people you will have seen before -- Harry potter = Filtch and Game of thrones Walder Frey. Lots of jokes you will have missed first time around as well. Always worth another watch a couple of years later.
Absolutely love this movie! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Very fun.
👌
The outtakes for this movie (as well as for Shaun of The Dead) are damn funny!
You have to do the final movie "The World's End" - it is phenomenal!
I can't spoil anything, except that Simon Pegg plays a complete immature loser that never mentally made it past high school.
His erstwhile best friend (Nick Frost) is very sensible.
As usual, the writing is brilliant. The action scenes are superb - the VFX even got praised by the "corridor crew", and featured in their video about how to do good VFX!
The guy who said "I brought you into this world. It's fitting that I take you out of it" is the village doctor, the one who delivered Danny. He's not related to Danny in any way other than that.
The doctor isn't his dad haha. "I brought you into this world" means he delivered him when he was born (because he is the doctor)
I love how the blonde lady who shouts "Fascist" is shooting a WW2 British Sten Gun. It was a weapon given to British paratroopers and commandoes. The fact that she has one that still works is just hilarious.
One bit of casting you missed was Nicholas' girlfriend "Janine" at the beginning of the movie was Cate Blanchett.
In the same scene, Bob was played by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block)
And the Father Christmas stabbing Nicholas' hand was Peter Jackson (Lord of the rings)
Also, the kalashnicov wielding dealier was Garth Jennings (H2G2)
@@axlm.808 Okay...you win.
The film location is a town called Wells, Somerset, UK, where Edgar Wright grew up. Tim Dalton was James Bond, the head of the NWA used to be The Equalizer and the Reverend was Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark - all favourites of Pegg and Wright. I am proud to say I've had my photo taken outside the supermarket in Wells. Baffled my wife mind you.
Future Academy Award winning actress in this film.
I love how, with all the gunfire of the movie's climax, nobody is actually killed (in the climax).
So many amazing actors in this, from Jim Broadbent, Timothy Dalton, and Olivia Colman, to the two Andys - Paddy Considine and Rafe Spall - and then some of the NWA members who also appeared in films like 'The Omen', 'The Wicker Man' and 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. While I prefer 'Shaun of the Dead' due to my knowledge and love of the zombie films and genre it works off of, this script is so tight and so many perfect callbacks. My only criticism at all is that they didn't fully let us see and set up the model village early in the film, but the Aaron A. Aronson call back was so good. You would absolutely love every Edgar Wright film, although his latest "One Night in Soho" has had mixed reviews. Not the same tone as his earlier work as it's a straight psychological horror film.
The trolley boy is The Hound from Game of Thrones. Yarp!!
My favorite surprise was David Threlfall as the Shakespearean actor. In the early 80s he did a tremendous job on stage in the RSC's 8 1/2 hour adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby. He so excellently and deeply played the role of Smike that he became almost unrecognizable and earned himself an Tony nomination. I also think his girlfriend actress played Laurie in the British version of That 70s Show. Great cast.
"You wanna be a big cop in a small town, why don't you fuck off up the Model Village?" is there but you're right: could have been more clearly telegraphed.
This film was “filmed” in Wells, Somerset in the SW of England. It’s known to be the smallest city in England and you can actually take a Hot Fuzz tour. It’s a really nice place to visit too.
Can't wait for you to get to Baby Driver and Last Night in Soho. Those are my personal favs of Edgar Wright's. Hot Fuzz is awesome too.
I love that Rory McCann "Yarp!", also played the Hound in GoT.
This was filmed in Wells, Somerset which is where Edgar Wright grew up. It's not a village but a city---the smallest in England!
The big dude who says Yahp is the Hound from GOT and the Priest is the main bad guy in Raiders of the Lost Ark, love your channel x
I just realized the pub owners are the same couple that owned The Winchester in Shaun of the Dead.
What you would consider a backwards peace sign in the UK is the middle finger in the US (the FU finger) (which is why I laugh when all the rapper people do it that way and think it means peace). It stems from a time when the British archers were the most feared soldiers in the world, and comes from the archers knocking an arrow.
There is actually zero evidence for that often repeated origin story for the gesture. The warning about the removal of fingers before Agincourt mentions cutting off three fingers, not two, which were required to fire English longbows. There is no solid evidence for the gesture being used before 1901.
@@charleshowie2074 I did look this up after you mentioned it, because I was given this information from my professor in my history course at the university; and it looks like your information may be correct although the two finger Agincourt severing looks to be valid rather than three, but I haven't read the text personally; so I am only going on second hand information. Since history is largely guessing by academics trying to solve a puzzle that they
weren't present to witness can anyone know for sure? It's not like they unearthed a work by Chaucer on obscene medieval hand gestures.
@@8967Logan On what basis are you maintaining the two fingered part? Professors can be wrong too.
@@charleshowie2074 I agree professors can certainly be wrong; just look at what is coming out of colleges today. As to the two fingered severing a simple search will give you numerous sites that uphold the history; did you actually read historic text that contradicts that, or from where is your information coming?
@@8967Logan I haven't read the original text, no. I'm relying on the existing historiography. If you know a historian who writes that they are convinced it originated at Agincourt, I'd like to read it.
It was the local doctor who "brought him into the world" when he was born.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned yet, but the guy who played "Yarp" was also "The Hound" in Game of Thrones.
this is part on the Cornetto trilogy. Shaun of the dead Hottfuzz, & the worlds end. Named as such cause in each they're eating cornetto ice creams (Edgar Right , Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, & Jessica Hines all started together with a TV series called spaced it's a sitcom) another ffunny one to check out is Paul ufo related Simon and Nick together. great fun.
The guy who said "I brought you into this world" was the doctor.
Definitely the best of the trillogy. They're all good, but this is the best.
Best film in the comedy, slasher, action genre
After watching this film with my friend and her kids, I got her daughter to say "Cheese it! It's the fuzz!!" every time we drive by a cop.
Sadly - I was in the supermarket at 11pm last night. Two "pigs" came in to do their groceries (in uniform).
"Better be on my best behaviour - here are the pigs ,,,"
They seemed to have the same strategy as me - going aisle-by-aisle - I just wanted them to go away, in case I accidentally did something wrong (like using my trolley without due care and attention ...) ... I nearly bumped into the male, which - no doubt - would have meant the handcuffs going on.
The female officer was about 20 years old, blonde - and STUNNING!
She was definitely Simon Pegg - and he was a lumbering oaf, like Nick Frost.
It's ok to disrespect the pigs. Our own Prime Minister does it all the time.
The actor who says "Yarg" was Rory McCann who played The Hound in "Game Of Thrones"
They make a big fuss about the Swan because they are protected by royal decree over here. Technically they all belong to our queen.
The final movie in the Cornetto Trilogy is "The World's End" (2013).
At World's End is the next film in the Edgar/Pegg "Cornetto Trilogy"
Frank: “Whatever the cost, we would make Sandford great again.”
Me: Yeah, nope. Not touching that one.
movie came out in freakin' 2007. far, far too prescient.
Love your reactions, you are living the movie. Bless you.
The vicar is played by Paul Freeman who played Indiana Jones’s nemesis Rene Belloq in the first film Raiders of the Lost Ark. The doctor is Stuart Wilson who played the villain in Lethal Weapon 3 and The Mask of Zorro - more examples of British actors playing the baddies!
Not ‘arf, pop pickers. But Paul Freeman, on the other hand... no flies on him.
The reason the village is called 'Sandford' is because Sandford is the dummy training village that is used to train police in the UK.
Great reaction. There are so many things I could tell you about this film. The trolley boy, Michael, is the Hound from GOT! Go back and freeze frame the DVD being thrown back into the 2nd hand DVD bucket, there’s a copy of Shaun of the Dead in there 😁. Chasing the speeding car, the chase was set up to set a new record for the shortest movie car chase in history. And all the main characters from the village have medieval occupational surnames. Enjoy. Btw, you need to watch worlds end now.
Fun fact: When Edgar Wright thought of who to play Skinner, he wanted a Timothy Dalton-type (thinking Dalton wouldn't want to act in this). After looking around for some time, someone suggested: Why don't we just ask Timothy Dalton?
My favorite scene wasn't even in this video. When Angel says to his fellow officers, "ever wonder why the crime rate is so low and yet the accident rate is so high?"
So you know, swans have tremendously powerful neck muscles, and they bite.
Edgar Wright was actually originally going to direct the First episode of the revival era of doctor who but due to his commitment to Shaun of the dead. He was unavailable.
I'm glad you enjoyed the movie and you are an awesome Reactor 💖💯
The priest was the french guy Belloq from Raiders of the Lost Ark (he's barely recognizable)
Also the Trolley Boy who says "Yarp" is also Sandor Clegane aka The Hound from Game of Thrones.
Cate Blanchett was "Janine" - but the Santa Claus that stabs Nicholas at the beginning was Peter Jackson!
Michael the trolley boy was the Hound in Game of thrones btw :D
Thank you Kazzy, I'm from a little village, Tynemouth England.
The big guy that played Michael was also The Hound from Game of Thrones.
So the Shop clerk was Rory McCann, who also played the "Hound" in Game of Thrones. So have a great day and Stay Safe.
I like how their evidence locker access code is "999". The emergency number in the UK. (Like "911" in the USA)
The old lady Angel called a hag in the beginning was using an MP-40, better known as the Schmeisser machine pistol designed by the Nazis. So funny that she kept calling Angel a fascist when she was the one using a fascist weapon. Perfect.
Oh, and the doctor was also the stall proprietor at the county fair with the airrifle shooting gallery. He was shot into exactly the same foot by Danny twice. Once with the air-rifle, then when he threw the pump-shotgun on the ground, both times completely unintentional but for absolutely hilarious effect.
The trolley boy Michael is also the Hound in Game of Thrones. I don't know if you got it that Michael is living with his sister and mother in the same cottage. When Nickolas asked about them, Danny said: "It's the same person." So you might get an incling where his somewhat low IQ might come from. 😉
That was not an MP-40, but instead most likely a Stirling Submachine gun, of British design, used in the early 1950’s…so no. I don’t understand how you can mix up such an iconic WW2 SMG
@@odinharou7112 My bad, but it did look like a Schmeisser to me.

Danny puts the book in Nick's pocket knowing that he will stab him there later to make it look like Nick is dead.
Timothy Dalton is always such a great character actor. Living Daylights, License To Kill, Hot Fuzz and The Rocketeer are some of my fav movies with him in it.
...and the raucous laughter continues...
All that remains in the Edgar Wright-Simon Pegg-Nick Frost "Cornetto Trilogy" is "The World's End!"
Hiya. After the final part of the trilogy, 'The World's End', they also both star in 'Paul'. Stay safe. All the best to you.
it wasn't a fake knife that danny stabbed nick with. he stabbed nick in the exact spot his note pad was, thus preventing any harm to nick. he also placed a ketchup packet in the notepad to trick everyone that the stab was fatal
@11:58, that guy isn't danny's dad. he's the town doctor, he meant that he helped danny's mom deliver danny when she birthed him
Michael the Trolley Boy was also The Hound from Game of Thrones.
"Maybe that was his real dad?"
No, he was a doctor. You know, them things what do births n that.
The vicar (priest) is Belloch from Indiana Jones and the Doctor is the police villain from Lethal Weapon 3.
And Billie Whitelaw (the hotel reception woman) was Mrs Baylock(the replacement nanny) from the original Omen movie.
No swans were harmed in the making of this film.
Lol - ‘the big employee’ is the Hound from game of thrones
Part 2 so soon I feel so foolish . . .but happy I don't have to wait. Angel was not the only non corrupt, he was just so much more dedicated he made the other London police look bad. When I see this movie for weeks afterward I go around saying . . .
T H E G R E A T E R G O O D !
It drives my friends crazy I love it .
If you send your best cop away because he makes everyone else look bad, then you're corrupt. Ergo, he was the only non-corrupt.
All Liv Coleman's lines crack me up
When you watch this again, turn on the special features, It gives a wealth of information that sometimes goes by far too quickly to pick up on. Trust me. It's worth going back
Thank you for the entertaining reaction. You should watch the World's End, the last of the trilogy. World's end is my favorite of the 3.
Fantastic reaction, as always, loved this.
