I love that Sol Bivvy! I actually use it as part of an ultralight package with a thin liner for weather down to 45F. It breathes but blocks the wind so it stays really warm. In extreme cold I put my 19F bag inside the bivvy and I was perfectly comfortable. I think over time the wrinkles will gradually reduce its effectiveness but I still got a lot of use out of it.

Hey prepared mind 101 I'm a 17 year old South African boy and a big fan of your channel, youve given me some great ideas for camping, first aid and general edc and survival tips. I would just like to thank you for all the great info, it really means a lot. In an economically unstable country like South Africa it's quite often that I find myself in a situation as a first responder knowing that help isn't coming (our infrastructure isn't the best) in the form of an ambulance or road side assistance and your videos really help me get through the situations A ok. Thank you very much 🙏🏻

Ouch; been there, done that with the toes (on both feet). They're going to hurt for a while... Another handy thing to carry is a little bag of those bungee cords with the balls on them. They can be used to secure all kinds of things that larger, longer bungees with hooks can't.

To be realistic, I was a mechanic and my intake manifold gasket blew and radiator fluid leaked out everywhere. I knew how to fix it but without a new gasket, it wasn't getting fixed. I agree with you, simple stuff can get fixed on the fly but if you break down, you are most likely going to need a part you don't have and can't get on the road.

9:40 no. That isn't the same thing. It doesn't breathe as well. It's designed for very different situations. There's a little overlap in how it's possible to use it. But, no they're no where near the same thing. The reactor sleeping bag liners are highly breathable, very reusable, and washable. I'm a fan of that SOL item own one and have used it more than once. It just isn't the same thing as a high quality liner.

Good Morning Chris, First, I want to thank you for all the give aways... I did not win anything but that does not matter..... However, you did impress me and others with your generosity. You made a lot of people happy. Just wanted to say thanks...
Second, I am wondering what you do for emergency communication. I live in the Nothern Cincinnati area (Fairfield) and we loose cell phone service all the time. We have lots of hills so there are lots of holes. So, in an emergency situation you cant depend on cell phone service. I know you have a couple of GRMS handheld units, but at best they are only good for short range personal communication. I dont think anyone moniters the emergency channel (Ch 20). Do you have a CB or Ham Radio? I am a Ham and I would encourage everyone to go that route. BTW - Morse Code is no longer required but handy to know and the Tech test is real easy. I passed my first test at 11yo back in 1963. Although 2meter rigs are somewhat shortrange (it depends on your equipment ) there are plenty of repeaters the extend your range a long way. They are high up and dont go down because the power does.... Last night during the storm my phone lost reception but my radios did not. These days you can get units for as cheap as $30.
Now, CB is great for when you are traveling.... on the road someone is always listening - including the police. At home when atmospheric conditions are right I have talked to someone over 1000 miles away. This is just my thoughts..... I would be interested in you communication game plan.
