I love that she was singing. That last note was EPIC
Usutally the stand ins sing every year... this was the first year almost all were lip syncing.

@@Mtanic yeah idk why hardly any of them made the effort to actually learn and sign the songs for this year? I have a lot of praise for Emmie, she actually attempted to learn the song, which is probably one of the more challenging due to the language and style

Aside from Emmie obviously doing a great job as a stand-in, this performance really makes you appreciate how unique-sounding Kateryna's technique is compared to normal western singing and how much it adds to the song.
It is unique mostly in the pop / modern music. The white voice per se is not that unique, it is often used in folk music in Central and Eastern Europe.
Another good example of combining white voice with modern sounds it actually Tulia, Polish contestants from 2019. Their music is different, a bit rockier / heavier. And there's not as much folk influences there. But the voice technique is totally there.

All the dislikers, u go to hell for that. For the likers, we have a Valhalla where Emmie sings.
What's the purpose of stand-ins? Would they actually perform live? And what about the prerecordings of the actual band?
the stand-ins are people who are asked to perform in the original artist's place to:
1) test/refine camera angles and movements as well as some staging elements
2) give a reference for the artist
3) serve as an additional soundcheck in a way.
if not for this rehearsal, the ugly camera at 2:42-2:45 would've spoiled the actual performance and the whole thing with rings behind her head at 2:50 wouldn't make any sense as the camera isn't perfectly aligned

Can someone explain to me what these stand in rehearsal are? I find they quite interesting.
A stand-in rehearsal is when someone else, other than the lead-singer or band, performs the song on stage. This is usually done to see if the lighting works, if anything needs to be changed with the set, and so on. In this case, Emmie performed because the lead-singer of Go_A reported feeling unwell, but the band still needed to practice the song before the big event :-)

Not much to appreciate tho, that was intentional to check which lighting can affect the ensemble. The perfomances must be as true to the live one as possible. But yea the stand in for Fuego wouldnt be wearing the swarowski suit😂

@@milopazi90 In 2009 Russian representative Anastasia Prikhodko sang choruses of the song "Mamo" in Ukrainian (now such situation is impossible for political reasons), at the same time Latvian representative Intars Busulis sang his song "Probka" fully in Russian with very deep accent, though in the National Selection his song was in Latvian. In 2007 Latvia was represented with a song in Italian, though Italia even didn't participate. Estonia 2018 also sang in Italian.

She said later that she was on her way to work a shift at Taco Bell when they told her to come to the rehearsal because they didn’t know if Kateryna could perform.
Her parents had to collect her accreditation and bring it to her in person at the arena
Wow, did not expect the stand-in to also be able to sing! Very impressive! Also, I liked the camera angle changes they made to the final version. A lot more close-ups of the group.
When Kateryna was ill and had to quarantine while awaiting results from the test Emmie stud in during one of the rehearsals because she was the only one who knew the song. It's wonderful.

Stand in rehearsals are vital if ever the real ones cant rehearse. They make sure that the camera angles work, and she did her absolute best making sure that she can replicate the quality of Kateryna.

Emmie's stand-in performance was absolutely amazing. Afterwards she did it again during the second rehearsal of Go_A prior to the 2021 contest in Rotterdam. We still remember her talent one year after. Great job!!

EASILY my favorite of the stand in performances. i know we shouldn’t be comparing kateryna with her, but if Emmie knew how to perform the whitevoice, let’s just say that kateryna would have some competition. i also like how she makes the song more consumable. i love her 6/18/21

No one should hate on you for your personal preference aha, maybe because it sounds softer to you? I personally enjoy the feeling the original singer provokes in me but you may just prefer the way this singer performs the song. Either is valid

No hate at all! You’re absolutely entitled to feeling that way! Since you asked, here’s my guess: perhaps because Emmie’s softer approach is more similar to the “Western” style pop vocals most of us are so used to hearing. So it sounds more familiar to our brains.
The traditional Ukrainian white voice/noise style that Kateryna uses can be quite jarring to those who are unfamiliar with it. Therefore it might be harder to appreciate the rest of the song if your brain is too focused on the vocal style. I could be way off with my guess though. Just thought I’d try 😅
I personally prefer Kateryna’s style but again, everyone should be allowed to have their own opinion since feeling the music is a subjective, not objective, experience 😊
