Microsoft is an expert of going back few steps on UX with each update release. Thanks Microsoft for doing everything more and more complicated each time.
Thanks Microsoft for doing everything more and more complicated each time. Thanks to you Guy_In_a_Cube for doing everything simple and simple each time.
Q: For the left click to drill through, is there any way to get that into the report view once published? Everything I'm seeing says it is only for developers.
Microsoft should have updated their documentation on this. It was time consuming to ‘learn’ from and to state, when they release these preview features.
Jeesh, thank you! I was banging my head around today thinking my version was different somehow, or that I needed PowerBI service. How does one keep track of these little changes? So grateful I found your video -- thank you! 👏
I had to spend some time to find some of the options with this change but now I am used to it. BTW, you can also right click on the canvas and choose format to got to Formatting Pane
Great video! Thank you!!! I love the feature of just being able to left click to drill through as well!! However, I'm unable to figure out how to use the new feature with "card" visuals. I have the drill through working but it only allows you to right click; nothing happens on left click or hovering. Any suggestions?
Thanks Adam for the video and making our lives easier. I like that drillthrough enabling thing. But, when i enable it, save and close the pbix file and open it up again, the drillthrough feature is disabled again. Same on the service. any idea why that happens?
Thank you for doing Video on this, I was struggling with this and had to deactivate the On-Object editing to get to the drill-through functionality. Thanks again.
Was there a video about the click-able tooltips? Clicking Drill Through on the actual tooltip. I missed it, but the capability opens many doors, for at least me.
Great video, thank you. Can you show the detail of a drill-through on the same page so you can slide it in and out once you clear the selection? Sometimes, data artists are fast at drawing something that might or might not be doable with the tool at hand. I am contributing to an ISO standard for analytical reports - watch out data artists ;)
Why is it different between Desktop and Service? Left clicking in Desktop brings up Drill Through. However, in the Service you still have to Right click. I have only tried this using a Table visual. Maybe it's different on charts. It would be so much better if the user could just left click instead of right.
I think the amount of clicks in the on-object interface has increased. Still many things to improve, why don’t just leave all panes buttons visible to the left (collapsed), why do they have to close completely?
Agree! It's a pain in the ass! I lasted about 10 minutes with the on object editing before unchecking. I think its a good idea in theory but I don't want to lose the pane.
Its incredible how bad microsoft is at these things. Nobody on earth can figure out what they are doing. Hey how about this - double click to drill through WHAT! Give the dev the choice of what to do if you double click. Why is this so hard.

Adam, your timing is almost perfect on this, had this exact issue on Monday! Gave up and disabled the on object preview, now I can turn it back on! :)
same thing for me, It has now been over a month I have disabled the on object preview, and I finally can turn it back on as well

Thanks! spent too long looking for drillthrough and couldn't find it! Love the left click to bring up drillthrough also!
I spent an hour trying to figure out how the new drillthrough works. Thank you!
Have any body told you guys that you are just amazing.... Keep sharing knowledge brother... Lots of love from India

Great Video! QQ- Are you able to disable the right click drill through and only allow the visual button on the page as a drill-through click?

Yes. Thanks! Few days ago It took me a while to find it.

Guy i love your Power BI tips. I initially hated the Power BI experience as new user transitioning from Tableau.
Thanks soo much ❤
It's always hard to learn a new tool when you are used to something else. Thank you for sticking with it! And, thanks for watching 👊

Adam...Is there away to show on the visual the filters being applied when a user is drilling through multiple pages?

I kept asking this question from the moment this new feature was released. Thank You so much.
That left click is great!!!
Love this! Getting people to right click is a challenge. This would make adoption of reports so much better.
Thnank you so much I was not getting Dthrough option now got it
Thank you for this solution;
Thanks, but does this work with Power BI service? I am unable to make it work on a dashboard.
Thank you so much Adam sir you pulled me out ..
Exactly what I needed

Thk you. You saved my day😘
do you know why my filters are not applying to the target report page?
Thanks Worked...
I am missing the page type option from page information. How do I address this
Why are some matrix visuals not showing a drill through option
Thank you Adam, was pulling my hair out trying to find where it was
Thanks boss.
Thanks😊😊
yeah!! that was sneaky.. I was like what!!!! where is drill through.. it took a while to get accustomed to this new interface
this Page Type option doesn't exist as of 2024

0:27 Glad you are having the same bad UX experience wit the new look and field. Hope Microsoft team do improvements
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
