I just started (a week ago) and the thing I'm most afraid is - the complicated modelling part and DAX. I have no prior IT experience, so it will be a tough pill to swallow.
Learning a lot through your videos, but could you please also share excel files that you used to prepare the report on the video description. It helps a lot to compare and understand the visuals clearly. Thanks for all your videos and very much useful for us.
I get why it would be a benefit to have a measure run at runtime but if you have too many, won't it slow it down? Would I be better of using a custom SQL query or a database table where the aggregation already occurred?
I tried doing this with a report I made manually to visually it but after transforming the data in the query editor and pressing close and apply, it then totally changes the data for some reason. Idk wtf is going on.
I need one help not sure where to go and request a help. Say I created a table view report in power BI and I want to automate export data. Manually it is easy , but I publish the report in web and automatically how to generate the report and send email. Someone told me use "R" to get that , but if any video will be appreciated.
So, what is the easiest way to update the data as each day, week, month goes on? If your data is all in an excel sheet, can power Bi pull from the sheet in real time? Also, if you have a microsoft ERP system, can Power Bi pull data from that in real time?
I'm new to PBI, I'm using data from Cherwell for making report and sometimes when I try to refresh data getting a JSON error, is there any way to eliminate this error? I tried using both Cherwell connector and Cherwell (beta) as data sources.
I love yall's videos - I've watched many of them over and over. Definitely the best Power BI videos on RUclips. I'm struggling with one small issue that I cant find an answer to though, and I wondered if you could help. I have a data table set up by month, and while the first few months have data populated, future months don't yet have any data. The problem is that when I set up Tables in the "Report" area, the future months don't show up (because they don't contain any data except the month name). I want all of the months to show up even if there isn't any data for them (beyond month name). Is there any way to make that happen? Thanks!
I am new to Power BI and I need to learn this app for work. My one question for today is how does PowerBi interact with Excel as far as reading Excel's data? Does Power Bi just take the headers of the columns as different data inputs and all the rows in each column to be apart of that column header? I am asking because I need to truly understand how Excel files can be tailored so they easily are integrated into Power Bi reports. I am having trouble making visuals because of this.
I am a newbie -and have taken a course by Chris Dutton with Maven. However, starting a new position where I am not given access to build a data model or even download models to that I've built. I have to use whatever databases have been built by the BI Analysts and in most cases the data models are huge and wide and in many cases, I receive errors due to relationship absence. UGH! Thank you for your videos, really really awesome!
Amazing video! I don´t know if theres a video about the Star Scheme, I'm new in PowerBI. So I think that understanding and making a good scheme will be more easy. There's a video about that? regards, Esteban
This a great overview. I'm coming from a COBOL mainframe world and merging into SQL and Power BI. Looking forward to viewing the other videos on my educational journey. :)
Great video,Adam, nicely structured, not too seroius which is quite essential for Self BI in my mind...One question, though: Which Software did you use to produce/cut this video, great job there👍🏻 Appreciate you and Patrick’s hard work, thx. in advance, take care...
Great videos -- any idea where I can find a good tutorial on the Flow action "Export to File for Power BI" -- specifically, exporting a a bookmarked report?
These are really poorly designed instructional videos. This scattershot method is not good. Better to show a simple and direct process, then add details one at a time. The way this is presented absolutely defeats the "Five Minutes to Wow!" claim.
We need more of these back to basics videos for some of us starting fresh from scratch. Thank you 😊
I am loving this back to basics videos. Got to welcome the freshman.

Is the Excel sheet available somewhere so we can follow along?
Would it be possible for you to the share the excel sheet that you used to demonstrate.
What is the link to the Excel Adventure Works data? The one I found as part of Samples dadn't include Employees?

A tutorial without the data files is useless to me. I've moved on to another channel...
@@The-Right-is-Right which one?
Hello Guys, I just started , my power bi journey and I enjoy your video and I hope will be as good as you are and know more
Q: where is data source rse or how can I get data that you use in video sir?
I get why it would be a benefit to have a measure run at runtime but if you have too many, won't it slow it down? Would I be better of using a custom SQL query or a database table where the aggregation already occurred?
in terms of speed you are better off doing everything from the source of the data. If you can do it within SQL I recommend it
Can the date be updated automatically? on a daily basis?

Any idea where I can get that Adventure Works file you were working with.
You're a gifted teacher! Thanks for this!

Thank you for this but really I can't get the core value of power bi yet

Hello hamzasualehlateef
If the value is negative the fish dies, simulate a dead fish.

Just started my journey. Let's see how this goes.
Wow this is great video luv it could you make some video about how we can organize mass data in any organization
I am looking exactly what you mentioned in this vedio🙂. Thank you 👍
Hi, Kudos to you guys. Please I am looking for a data set I can use to practice how to create relationships and create a report on PowerBI
It would be good to tell and show more slowly.

Power BI can either import a table from excel, sheet or data range
.

Love this - thanks for making and posting.

I need more basic videos.
I dread to think what my boss would say if I used fish size to display information.
❤ just wow
adjusting to .75 speed. need to cope up :D
what if a person's middle name is actually "Null"
no use for beginners if there is no data file to practice

Yo're going too fast for beginners!
