Thank You so much for taking your time to explain The difference in the meshes. I have done floral wreaths for a lot of years, But in the last few months got into doing mesh wreaths, to say it's been a learning experience is an understatement, I started with DT mesh, it only took 1 time to figure out that wasn't what I should use. I have learned a lot watching your videos, and now you have demystified the different meshes for me. Thank You so much for being such a generous person, and sharing your knowledge with all of us.
Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge. This helps a lot. I have purchased 2 different mesh an was upset with all the fraying . Didn’t know that different mesh is used for different techniques. Now I do. So again thank you very much.
I thank you so much for explaining the pros and cons of each mesh. You made it so easy to decide which ones work for certain wreaths and flowers. You didn't to share to us all. You have a membership group. So sharing means you a very sincere person. 😃

Thanks so much for this video I didn't even know what I didn't know about the different mesh. Now I need a tutorial on poof, ruffle and the one where they use 6 or 10 inch mesh cut into strips and either rolled or scrunched up.

Hello Valerie! You are so welcome and I know it’s very confusing when you first start out. I’m happy that the video was helpful and thank you for watching, Lori.
Wow, I didn't know there were so many different kinds of mesh! I appreciate you taking the time to explain them. Did you do a video on the different methods if rolling? I heard you saying different types in this video. Tfs and God Bless ❣
Hello Dawn! I’m really happy you enjoyed the video and I haven’t done a video on the different methods of using mesh but I do plan on doing one soon. Thank you for watching and God Bless, Lori.
Hello Janette! You are so welcome and I used to think the same thing when I was a beginner lol. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching, Lori.
Hello Lori. Yes you do need tempered glass to use a wood burner and I usually place it over my mat so I can see the measurements and where to cut. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Carolyn! I think that’s a great idea and I will definitely do a video about that. Most likely it will be after Christmas but I will try to do it sooner. Thank you so much, Lori.
I have been making some cross wreaths for cemeteries. What is the best that will hold up in weather and should they be sprayed with something and if so what is the best type of spray. Not brand but just type of spray. Or even if a wreath is going to hang out side. Thank you Lori in advance. You are so educational and the best.
Hello Dorothy! You can use just about any mesh for outdoors because they are made to withstand the weather like Poly Jute, Metallic Deco Mesh, and many others. The only one I wouldn’t recommend for outdoors is Fabric Mesh. I don’t spray my wreaths even if I hang them outdoors because it isn’t necessary but if you would like extra protection then UV spray is a good kind. Thank you for your kind words and please remember to like and subscribe if you haven’t already. Lori
Hello Denise! You are so welcome and I’m happy the video was helpful. When I first started making wreaths, I was shocked too and thought there was just one kind of deco mesh lol. Boy was I wrong lol. That’s why I wanted to do this video for all the beginners. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Hello Lori. I would recommend using the spray adhesive after putting the mesh on. I usually wait until the end and trim off the frays first and then spray it. Thank you, Lori.
Hard Working Mom have you tried any other methods to keep it from fraying? I was thinking about taking a wood burner tool and running it along the edge to stop the fraying, but I have no idea if it will work long term.
Thank you so much for doing this video on what are good and not so good mesh to work with and what you can make with them. I’ve mentioned to you before that I bought 18 inch wreath frames and I’m having a really hard time trying to figure out how many rolls of wreath I need to fill the frame up. I have the Dollar store frame and I have the ones like you have. I bought mesh to go with the video’s I watched you make but I’m racking my brain trying to figure out if I have enough rolls or not. How do you know how many rolls to buy with a frame? After I’m done using these 18 inch frames I’m going with what size you use. Also do you sale like a package material of whatever project your working on? I love so many of the things you make and there so very beautiful.
Hi Judy! You are very welcome and I did respond to your previous comments and answered your questions about using the 18” frame. Hopefully you can go back and read them. For that size frame, you’re going to need 2 1/2 rolls of mesh so you would need 3 rolls if they are 10 yards each which the majority are. I do sell Wreath Kits for the wreaths I make and they include the Work Wreath that come with the ties, mesh, ribbon, and sign. They are all $42. Here is the link to my website and I sell signs, mesh, ribbon, and much more. hardworkingmomstore.com/. My Wreath Kits sell fast so make sure you’re signed up to receive text message alerts every time I list new kits and go live. Just text “live” to 864-465-8401. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Thanks for this video! Super informative and easy to follow. This video is the only one I’ve found that contains the decorative splatter mesh( I believe that’s what you called it). The million dollar question I have is………. How do you roll/use/accent with it!!? Help please!
Hi Angela! I’m happy the video was helpful for you and I use the Splatter mesh as an accent by cutting it 10” long and ruffling it. I do that last after I put the ribbon tails on. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Thank You for showing us the different kinds of mesh, I have a question, I want to make a cross for my Moms grave what mesh is the best to withhold the weather and should I seal it with a spray? Thank You.
Hi Jean! All mesh is made to withstand the weather but I would say Metallic Mesh is the best. I don’t seal my wreaths but since it’s going to be for a grave, I would consider spraying it with E6000 Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Hello Sheri! Here is a link to a video where I did the candy cane ruffle and it’s very similar to the poof/curl method. ruclips.net/video/Z5mTxw--iHo/видео.html. Most mesh do just fine outdoors and the only one I would be careful with is fabric mesh but even that would work if it’s under a covered area like a porch. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Diania! I haven’t used chunky glitter fabric before but you can make a beautiful rag wreath with fabric. Here is a rag wreath I did a while ago. ruclips.net/video/vOVqUwfGbLM/видео.html. Please remember to like and subscribe and thank you for watching, Lori.
What mesh would be a good alternative to deco mesh for a carrot wreath? The deco wreath is a nightmare for me. The cost isn't an issue. I'd just like something easier to work with that will ceate the "ruffles" I need.
Hi Tiffany! I would recommend Poly Jute mesh. It’s very different then regular mesh and it’s easy to work with and doesn’t fray very much at all. It’s one of my favorites to work with. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Lori, even though this information video is two years, I am seeing it for the first time and I am not comfortable with knowing which to use. As a newby, I am trying to learn everything I can. However, I am not real happy with deco mesh. Dollar Tree mesh is a total no-no. I hate the fraying. So I think I am going to focus on grapevines. However I have a customer who wants a military wreath and a college wreath. Do you mind recommending a mesh for these projects?
Hi Margie! I’m glad the video was helpful and as long as you use Craig Bachman mesh, you won’t have very much fraying at all. It doesn’t even compare to Dollar Tree mesh. The ones I would recommend is Metallic Mesh and Poly Jute Mesh. You can purchase it from my website or Trendy Tree and DecoExchange. Here is the link to my website. hardworkingmomstore.com/. Thank you, Lori.
For making a wreath, I find it hard to use my fingers like I used to be able to due to a few strokes. What methods would be easiest to use using Dollar Tree deco mesh. I find myself getting aggravated at not being able to do it which is why I don't want to spend more money on deco mesh 🙃 Thank you for your video ❤❤
Hi Kimberly! I’m sorry to hear about your strokes and even though I don’t recommend Dollar Tree Mesh, I would recommend the Woodland Ruffle. You curl the edges above 4 times and then ruffle the middle. Use a chip clip to hold the curl on one side while you do the other. I also created a Ruffle Tool for anyone that struggles with hand issues because it doesn’t put strain on your fingers and hands. Here’s the link for the Ruffle Tool and a short video showing how it works. Ruffle Tool. rclsignsandmore.com/products/deco-mesh-ruffle-tool. Video. ruclips.net/user/shortsdwZQBp5XFXE?si=TuStwfDG4GrS_ghH. I hope this can help you and thank you for watching, Lori.
Hello CJ! I’m happy you’re enjoying my videos and thank you. I purchase my mesh wholesale from Sims but you can find the same ones at Craft Outlet, Trendy Tree, The Wreath Shop, and I sell mesh on my website. Here is the link. hardworkingmomstore.com/collections/10-in-mesh. Lori
Thank you, Lori! I needed your explanation...you are so easy to understand! I get frustrated with deciding what mesh to order. The mesh Hobby Lobby is selling at Christmas seems so thin & difficult to work with. Will poly mesh be better for wreath if ruffling?
Hello Kathy and you are so welcome. I’m so happy that my videos are easy to understand and it can be very frustrating when buying mesh. I stay away from Hobby Lobby mesh because of the quality and I can get better mesh for the same price at Craft Outlet and Trendy Tree. I would highly recommend those two online websites. As far as ruffling, as long as it’s not Hobby Lobby mesh or Dollar Tree mesh, I can use any of them for ruffling and poly mesh is a good one. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Hello I was just trying to figure out how much Deco Mesh would I need to a 14" wreath frame using the method where you roll it on one end the the other then gather it. And using say 10 or 15 inch of Deco Mesh? Also, can't wait for my order to arrive I so excited. I order a sign & a box ribbon. Dorothy.
Hello Dorothy! If you wanted to make a Woodland Ruffle then you would cut your mesh at 30” to 35” long. I use 18 ties for a 14” wreath frame and end up needing one and a half rolls of mesh that is 10” wide. I hope that helps and excited for you to receive your order. Thank you so much, Lori.
That’s a good question and in my opinion it’s not going to be more cheaper. I have done the math and it’s not worth the amount of fraying you will have. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Tina! The only mesh I wouldn’t recommend for curls is basic mesh because it frays a lot. I would recommend Poly Jute Mesh, Metallic Deco Mesh, Fabric Mesh, and Snowball Mesh. Hopefully that answers your question. Thank you, Lori.
Hi, there Laura and welcome. They just launched the website I didn't get it at their website I got it in the store. So, you may want to call them I know a lot of things they have in the stores are diffrent from the website so its both ways either the do or dont. Also, in the store is named under diffrent names. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Tiffany! I never use mesh from Hobby Lobby unless it’s their premium mesh or holiday mesh but the premium is more expensive then what you can get from Craft Outlet so I don’t buy them. JoAnnes is better then Hobby Lobby and if you have a coupon then it’s worth it. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Hi Jamie! I’ve never done one with just the splatter mesh because it’s similar to tulle and you wouldn’t have enough coverage. I would recommend putting down a layer of deco mesh first. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm Thank you so much for your response. I was actually able to pull of a pretty incredible wreath with this even tho it is very sheer. I had to do some layering. I would love to show you bit am not sure to add a picture here.
Hi Jamie and that’s wonderful. I’m sure it’s beautiful and you can post pictures in my free craft group on Facebook called “Hard Working Moms Everyday Craft Dreamers.” I would love to see it. Lori
All the places she mentioned also have the good ribbons as well. As far as price, they vary from place to place. Your value mesh can cost as little as 1.54 and can go up from there. Your most expensive mesh can be 12.00 a roll. So it all depends on the style of wreath and what coverage you are looking to achieve. I hope that helps.. :)
Hello Hard Working Mom, Thank You for for sharing so much!!! Many won't bother to take the time to do so. I did not see/hear you talk about Deco Mesh, can you comment on that as well?
Thank you, Carol. All the mesh I went over are all considered deco mesh however there are just many different kinds like Basic Deco Mesh, Poly Jute Deco Mesh and so on. I hope that answers your question and please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm thanks for the response. I understand now. I'm new to wreathmaking, I did not know that working with mesh causes so much itching. No one mentions that.
Hello Lynnette! Yes that’s the basic deco mesh and it’s very thin. I only use that kind of mesh if I’m layering two different kinds. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Hello there! You can use basic mesh if you would like but I just choose to use the same mesh throughout my wreaths and the prices aren’t that much more for the good quality mesh. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Great info. Everyplace you said to buy is on line? I just bought mine at JoAnns . I guess that’s ok until I want to make more:) I’m going to try the waffle wreath? I really like the way you show how to do things. Thank you:)
Thank you, Barbara and I love buying online because it’s the most cost effective. I’m glad that my video helped you and I would love to see your waffle wreath when it’s finished. I have a free craft group on Facebook called “Everyday Craft Dreamers” and would love for you to join. Thank you, Lori.
Hi Jean! I’m sorry I’m not sure what you mean my Sewing Mesh unless you’re talking about tulle? Deco Mesh would be better for wreaths because it’s thick and holds its shape. You won’t get that from non Deco Mesh. I hope that makes sense. Thank you, Lori.
Due to budget issues I usually get my mesh from the dollar store. Not the best but what I can afford. Where does that fall into the mesh standards? I know it definitely frayes a lot!!
Dollar Tree mesh will fray a lot and is at the very bottom but it’s also affordable so I totally understand. The less you handle it the less it frays. If you ever were able to afford better mesh then for $2 more, you can order from Craft Outlet. Their mesh is the best. I hope this helps you. Thank you so much, Lori.
Hello Linda! All mesh frays but if you purchase good quality mesh then it won’t be as much. You can find great mesh at Craft Outlet, Trendy Tree, and The Wreath Shop. Please remember sharing is caring and to subscribe. Thank you, Lori.
Thanks Lori for all this info on the mesh! You mentioned using a heated rotary tool. Where did you buy yours at? Btw I love watching your videos and live ones!
Hello Renee, I purchased my wood burner from Amazon and it’s made by “Chandler.” Here is a link to purchase all the tools I use and you can find it there if you’re interested. www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-5ef69f14. I appreciate your kind words and thank you for watching, Lori.
Oh ok. I must of misheard you on the video. I could of sworn you said you had a heated rotary cutter. My daughter has a wood burner. Already told her I was taking it because she don't use it anymore. Lol Hmmm...we should Patten a Rotary burner. Would make things so much easier. Lol Thanks for getting back to me. I know you are really busy. Have a good day.
You are so welcome and I sure wish there was a heated rotary cutter cause it would make cutting mesh a breeze lol. If you get one patented then I will be your first customer. Thank you so much, Lori.
Hello Judy! I have never heard of dyeing mesh and don’t know how that would work. Mesh can be found in every color you can think of so I would recommend just buying what you need. Thank you, Lori.
Hi Rachel! Burlap and Poly Burlap are ones you need to be careful with. Make sure you’re in a well ventilated area and even consider wearing a mask if it bothers you. Thank you for watching, Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm Thank you for answering my question. I enjoyed watching you explain the difference between the meshes. Will watch that again. Thank you

Hello and welcome, there June. They are not all deco mesh they are all different. That is why I created this video. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Jim & Cathy! Mesh is made out of a plastic material and burlap is made of real burlap so just different materials. Thank you for watching and please don’t forget to like and subscribe. Lori
Hello Kay! I think the ruffle method is a great one to start with and I would recommend poly jute mesh because it’s easy to work with. Just remember to take it slow and not get discouraged if your first wreath isn’t perfect because the more you do it the easier it will become. I hope that helps and I’m always here to answer questions. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Carolyn! Yes I have used mesh ribbon before and it’s just like regular mesh but 2.5” wide. You can use it to make bows for your wreaths. Thank you, Lori.
Hello Linda! Deco Mesh isn’t always used for all mesh like there is Burlap Mesh, Fabric Mesh, and Poly Jute Mesh. I hope that makes sense. Thank you, Lori.

I bought a woodburning tool for cutting the various mesh so I am wondering do you need to use a piece of tempered glass underneath it?
Hello Lori. Yes you do need tempered glass to use a wood burner and I usually place it over my mat so I can see the measurements and where to cut. Thank you, Lori.
Could you think about doing a video on the different types of ruffles, puffs and things you can do with mesh? I just love watching your videos.
Lori
Thank you so much for this video ❤️ I never knew there was so much different mesh. I am such a newbie LOL 🤣
Thank you this information was very informative.
Welcome, to my channel Deveda. You are so welcome, anytime. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Lori with the Deco mesh, do you recommend using a spray adhesive before working with that To prevent so much fraying?
But, thank you so much for the video. It was very informative and thank you thank you thank you we love you
You are very welcome Amanda and so happy it helped you. I love you too. Thank you, Lori.
Great information! Thank you!
Hello, Donna and welcome to my channel. You are so welcome. Happy to help. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you. Lori.
@@craftingwithhwm Thank You so much for getting back to me!

2 questions :-) 1. What is the candy cane ruffle? And 2. Is all mesh waterproof for using outdoors or only certain ones?
Hello Sheri! Here is a link to a video where I did the candy cane ruffle and it’s very similar to the poof/curl method. ruclips.net/video/Z5mTxw--iHo/видео.html. Most mesh do just fine outdoors and the only one I would be careful with is fabric mesh but even that would work if it’s under a covered area like a porch. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Thank you
Great tutorial
Thank for good information,good tips.
You are so welcome and I am happy it helped you. Thank you, Lori.
Thank you! This helps a lot. :)
Hello Nicole! I’m glad the video was helpful and you are very welcome. Thank you for watching, Lori.
ty i learned a lot
Thank you, Mrs. Lori! Is eyelash mesh OK as a pouf base?
Yes it absolutely is and it would make a beautiful base. Thank you, Lori.
Have you ever used chunky glitter fabric for projects.
I find myself getting aggravated at not being able to do it which is why I don't want to spend more money on deco mesh 🙃
Thank you for your video ❤❤
I hope this can help you and thank you for watching, Lori.
thank you for that clarification!
You are very welcome and thank you for watching, Lori.
Going through all of your videos and love them thank you! Where do get your mesh? I've never seen all these styles
Lori
@@craftingwithhwm thank you so much for the Sam's club tip! I found 21 50 YARD rolls of beautiful ribbon. 😍 I am a happy girl
Thanks for the info
Thank you, very much there Sylvia. Don't forget to like and share. Thank you, Lori.
Hello
I was just trying to figure out how much Deco Mesh would I need to a 14" wreath frame using the method where you roll it on one end the the other then gather it.
Lori is it cheaper to buy the 21 inch rolls and cut it now so you’d have the 10” squares?
That’s a good question and in my opinion it’s not going to be more cheaper. I have done the math and it’s not worth the amount of fraying you will have. Thank you, Lori.
What is the best mesh to use to make curls?
Hello Tina! The only mesh I wouldn’t recommend for curls is basic mesh because it frays a lot. I would recommend Poly Jute Mesh, Metallic Deco Mesh, Fabric Mesh, and Snowball Mesh. Hopefully that answers your question. Thank you, Lori.
Thank you very much!
please show video on how to use wood burning tool to cut mesh
Hi Paulette! Here’s a video showing me using a wood burning tool. ruclips.net/video/gHrI0tOkb2o/видео.html. Thank you for watching, Lori.
I just bought some what I think basic mesh. I bought them online. It's called value mesh or decor mesh. Are these good?
Hello Paula! I use basic mesh all the time so it should be good. Thank you, Lori.
Hey Lori I cannot find the tulle at A.C. Moore website
What is your opinion on hobby lobby and JoAnns mesh? They always have great coupons but is it worth it?
Hello Tiffany! I never use mesh from Hobby Lobby unless it’s their premium mesh or holiday mesh but the premium is more expensive then what you can get from Craft Outlet so I don’t buy them. JoAnnes is better then Hobby Lobby and if you have a coupon then it’s worth it. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
Have you ever made a wreath using only the splatter mesh? Would you do it the same way as the regular deco mesh?
Lori
Where do you buy your mesh from I've seen some beautiful mesh that you've used
Hi Danielle! I sell them on my website and also included in my Wreath Kits. Here is the link to my shop. hardworkingmomstore.com/. Thank you, Lori.
Craft outlet is the best.
Yes I agree 100% and it’s one of my go to places. Thank you, Lori.
What is a fair amount to pay for mesh to make a wreath and also...where is a good place to get nice quality ribbon like you use?
All the places she mentioned also have the good ribbons as well. As far as price, they vary from place to place. Your value mesh can cost as little as 1.54 and can go up from there. Your most expensive mesh can be 12.00 a roll. So it all depends on the style of wreath and what coverage you are looking to achieve. I hope that helps.. :)
@@cathyturner-haskins8769, thank you!
Very helpful video tfs

I bought mesh the other day and it said deco poly mesh. Is that the basic mesh? It was thin and you could see through it. Thank you.
Hello Lynnette! Yes that’s the basic deco mesh and it’s very thin. I only use that kind of mesh if I’m layering two different kinds. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
What about for a filler? Wouldn’t u want to use cheaper mesh in the work form?
Hello there! You can use basic mesh if you would like but I just choose to use the same mesh throughout my wreaths and the prices aren’t that much more for the good quality mesh. I hope that helps. Thank you, Lori.
How long have you been doing Deco craftsmanship? Are you “self taught” thanks?
Hello there! I’ve been doing this for over 20 years but only 10 with Deco Mesh. I am self taught. Thank you for watching, Lori.
Which mesh can you put lights on
Hi Donna! You can put lights on any kind of mesh you use.
What’s difference in deco mesh and sewing mesh ? Can sewing mesh be used to make wreaths?
How do you keep them from fraying?
@@craftingwithhwm haha I might just do that! Lol
Can you dye plain mesh
Hello Judy! I have never heard of dyeing mesh and don’t know how that would work. Mesh can be found in every color you can think of so I would recommend just buying what you need. Thank you, Lori.
Did you say there was 2 that you need to watch when using. Breathing it in

Thank you, Lori.
what is difference between ribbon mesh and burlap
Hello Jim & Cathy! Mesh is made out of a plastic material and burlap is made of real burlap so just different materials. Thank you for watching and please don’t forget to like and subscribe. Lori
What are the websites to order the mesh
Hello Linda! Here are a few. Craft Outlet, Trendy Tree, and The Wreath Shop. All are online and have the best quality mesh. Thank you, Lori.
Thks so much@@craftingwithhwm
You’re very welcome!
As a learner what do you recommend I start with
You know anything about the ribbon mesh
Hello Carolyn! Yes I have used mesh ribbon before and it’s just like regular mesh but 2.5” wide. You can use it to make bows for your wreaths. Thank you, Lori.
Where can you find it at I have a Hobby Lobby in Michaels up here where I live at and half the time I can't never find the stuff that I'm looking for.
Is “Deco Mesh” the general term for all the types of mesh...basic. Burlap, jute etc. ?
Hello Linda! Deco Mesh isn’t always used for all mesh like there is Burlap Mesh, Fabric Mesh, and Poly Jute Mesh. I hope that makes sense. Thank you, Lori.
