Thanks for the review! As a fellow dealer, We can definitely confirm the Polk Audio XT12 Subwoofer. The XT12 features a 12" high-excursion damped driver, a built-in high current amplifier, and a 1.5" voice coil that produces deep, powerful bass. This subwoofer comes with Polk Audio's patented Power Port technology, which helps reduce distortion and improve sound quality. The XT12 also features a variable crossover, phase switch, and volume control, which help customize the subwoofer. Overall, I think the Polk Audio XT12 Subwoofer is an amazing subwoofer that provides deep, powerful bass. If you have any questions about this subwoofer or any other Polk Audio product, just let me know!
Thanks for the awesome video on this subwoofer. I bought it today for 340€ and it's amazing for a 35 square meter room! I chose it on your recommendation. Precisely for accurate delivery. I can confirm, it is really accurate not booming. Everything is great, but in the future I have to dampen the box. It's terrible :D The amplifier and the speaker itself are of good quality and the amplifier does not overheat.
Thank you for the review. It was informative. I am a cat lover ❤ and I like to see that your "4-leg assistents" lurking around, sniffing and checking up on your gears. Do they leave some scratchmarks on your equipments?
Thank you! Yeah, he's my little guy that is always interested in what I am doing. He is very careful with my equipment when walking on it and so far he hasn't scratched anything.
The REL and SVS are good bit better in sound quality and rightly so (they cost significantly more), but the Polk XT12 is probably the best subwoofer I have heard in the under $300 price point. IMO the Polk XT12 is the poor man's REL if that makes sense. :)
hi. i have a constant buzzing noise coming from the internal transformer of the XT12 (not from woofer). i tested two units and both express the same issue. i also tested a yamaha subwoofer in the same setup - no unwanted noises. do you think it would be viable to isolate the internal transformer and use a power brick instead?
Wow. I didn't hear any buzzing noises with my XT12 subwoofer. Mine is as quiet as a mouse. Its normal for transformers to make some humming noises but you are hearing a "buzzing" noise. I wonder if the transformer that mounts to the plate amplifier has some loose bolts causing the "buzzing" noise that you're hearing? It might be worth a shot to remove the plate amplifier and make sure the transformer is securely mounted to it.
I have the Klipsch R10SW, and when i pull the volume up, at high volumes stops increasing bass, like a protection or something. Same with my Jamo S810 and S808. Does this Polk have better perform, or still have this problem?
Hi Jack, get the Heco Aurora Sub30A. IMO its a much better subwoofer than the Polk Monitor XT12. Right now the Heco subwoofer is on sale for only $229 (originally over $500). Check the description for a link to this subwoofer. I did a nice upgrade video series on the Klipsch R10SW and was able to get quite a bit more output from it by using an external amplifier. I'm pretty sure the Klipsch amplifier has a limiter preventing you from overdriving it and that's probably what you are hitting. I hit that same limiter when I swapped out the driver for something better. You can check out my Klipsch R10SW upgrade video series here: ruclips.net/video/NuScUM1KLUY/видео.html
@@generationbehindhifi Thanks for your comment! In my country the Heco costs arround 600, and the Polk costs 250/300. I have a Aiyima A3001, i will try it. Thanks!
@@jackddniels If the Heco is unavailable at the sale price, then the Polk Monitor XT12 will probably be your best bet. Its still a great subwoofer for the money, its just over here in the states the Heco is the better buy now. Gotta love competition! :)
Yes! The XT12 surprised me with its ability to deliver deep strong bass that can fill a medium sized room. I wasn't expecting it to have so much output considering its amplifier is only rated for 50watts RMS. I would bet money that this amplifier delivers more watts than its rated for. At $299 sale price, this subwoofer is a nice bargain!
Depends on what you want from a subwoofer? Will this subwoofer be used primarily for music listening or watching movies? If for movies, then get the Polk XT12 (buy on sale and don't pay retail). The Polk will have much more output than the REL and will be able to pressurize a room much better, which is what you want from a home theater subwoofer. If you're primarily listening to music, then get the REL. The REL will blend really nice with just about any speakers for a seamless integration and will basically be an extension to your front mains. I will caution you about the T5X though, output is pretty low because of the 8" driver. If you can swing it, I would look for a T9X so you have some headroom in case you want more output. Hope this helps! Happy hunting!
Thanks! I'm new at this and just having fun with it. I mention the port length in the video and can't remember it off the top of my head. I haven't had a chance to review the HTS 12 to see if it shares the same driver as the XT12, but that wouldn't surprise me if it did. I have heard the HTS 12 is quite impressive too, but its also a lot more expensive, which means more competition at that price point.
Thanks, PatentRob! The HTS 12 looks like a nice subwoofer too, but its also significantly more expensive than the XT12. What interest me most about the XT12 is the class A/B amplifier. It kind of reminds me of a poor mans version of a REL subwoofer. Maybe one day I will try out a HTS 12 and do a video about it.
Is there a lot of port chuffing when the Polk is pushed hard? How does this compare to the REL ht1205? BTW I really enjoy your videos very informative!!!
Nice review! Are you able to review the CerwinVega SL12 or SL15 series speakers? There isint much content out there on the newer CerwinVega! Speakers and I think it would do well for your channel 👍🏻🔈

Thank you for the kind words. This is just the Look Inside video, my full review of the XT12 will be out next month. :)
Is good for 70% movies and 30% music listening? Thank you for your incredible reviews!
Thank you! I would say so. Enjoy it!
Would you compare sound quality (especialy music) with the svs or rel sub?

From the looks of it, this sub represents superb value for $$. That driver sure looks the business alongside the internal amp.

Rel t5x is said to be very good sounding subwoofer. Pl do a review with a comparison ofpolk xt12.

Very well very good inside box review
Whats the port size and length
And do the hts12 and monitor xt12 share same driver???

is this better then the Klipsch R100SW?
Yes. Much better.
I would have selected Polk Audio HTS 12. Nevertheless, great work.

No.
Class a, being 100wt will output about 50-70watt to the speaker. Sound qiality in subwoofer freaquencies is the least thing you should worry about
