Davie, veri nice indeed. False hackle makes flies not that bushy looking. I was always stricken how traditionally tied Cascade look big in the water because of orange and yellow hackle wound around.
Beautiful easy to tie fly. I don't use doubles because of number of hooks that we can use at a time. I think they may harm the fish a little more than I would like anyway. I have tied doubles for others. All the best, Happy Christmas Day. Sean
I used to assume that adding that extra hook point doubled my chances of setting the hook. I was quite wrong. It only serves to double your chances of pulling up on bone or cartilage. Besides that, it queers the current-play and profile of the fly and I fully expect reduces the odds of raising a fish in the first place. Doubles aren't worth the small fortune you pay for them. For the price of a single packet of doubles, I can get a quick-sink braided leader and a spool of fluoro tippet.
Hi Harold Steele, You're very welcome and I'm glad you like it.. Merry Christmas to you too and a Happy New Year when it comes...... All the very best Davie
Another stellar fly it looks awsome cant wait to tie some of my own thabks for sharing. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. P.S. Was woundering about the link to the calming music?
Hi Terry Lockley, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family too...I have asked my son to upload the music to his sound cloud but he's not done it yet and he also composing a new song for me to use next year which hopefully I'll have very soon.. All the very best Davie
Hi JSF 4star, Merry Christmas and a Happy New to you too and I'm glad you liked the look of the fly.. I gave a friend a loan of it, as he bought a vise that he spends more time trying to get it to hold the hook rather than tying a fly and to be honest I like to use the Law especially for filming as you can see the whole fly much easier... All the very best Davie
Davie, is that you fishing in the opening part of your video ? (Apologies for the late comment. I was watch the Glenfarclas tube, then saw the Glenfarclas fly and the Minx Cascade rolled in next)
Hi Danny, Yes that is me having a cast on my local water and it was in 2010, lost a bit more hair since then and a little weight but I'm still much the same...Look forward to meeting you when you come over in April... All the very best Davie..
