That's a nice pattern. I have always found that squirrel tail is very slippery when tying it on, but I see that you keep a minimum sized clump held tight with waxed thread, I will keep it in mind. Thanks so much Davie!!!
Good evening Davie and Ian bain. Its always a pleasure to watch your videos. Shall be tying up a few of these IB Specials whilst we are going through this dreadful time. Many thanks. Stay Safe.
Thank you for continuing to tie. During this covid 19 nightmare it gives me something to look forward too. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing talent! From Kansas USA!
Nice to see it up close, I enjoy watching his video's especially the one where he hooks a seal!. Thanks again Davie I love copying(or more accurately trying to copy 😁) your flies you're a pleasure to watch cheers
Great looking salmon fly mate. The coho salmon and steelhead would murder that puppy. I’m tying a few of them in two different sizes for to use in Oregon. Thanks for sharing another great pattern my friend. Best Regards, Ken🐟🐟🦃🦃
Hi Again Davie I would like to clarify how the fly ended up with my name . I had used this pattern for years successfully and one day while fishing I gave the then treasurer of the Perth and District Anglers Association one of my flies .he shortly afterwards managed a salmon and when he logged the fish on our site the fly was then named . I try to let people know that I am just another angler having fun and hoping with my videos to give people the insentive to get out there and enjoy. Cheers Iain
Hi Andrew, Yes he did use yellow biots on the original dressing, the Iain Bain Special, the one I tyed is a variant of this in the shrimp style. ATB Davie..
Hi Iain, I have a couple of flies with my name on them but they were named by the people that fished them just like yourself, though I would say your name should be by your fly and with the interest it has had over the few years is only right..Thank you for letting me and everyone that reads these comments know how it got it's name.. All the very best Davie..
Iain SB hi Iain are you Happy with the masters version of your fly? Personally I would be honoured to see Davy tie one of my flies. As Davy says awe the best
I'm going to the that up and do a couple with red heads rather than black just to be a wee bit different. I've always thought of making a black kennel type salmon fly, based on a black kennel trout pattern loosely and see what I can do with that. I've always used a black kennel in coloured spate or running off water and it defies all logic and get me fish in ridiculous conditions so I'll size it up and see if salmon are the same.
Hi Davie thanks for tying the IBS a great variant. I struggle to get the proportions correct on the Ness C salmon fly, a pattern I am trying to tie and use once we all get the OK to venture out. I would really appreciate it if you could show us your variant of the Ness C. Thanks for your continued content that has really improved my tying skills. Kind regards Mike C
Hi Danielle, Fulling Mill or Locktite Easy brush superglue are the ones I like to use..I'm glad you enjoyed the video of the Iain Bain Shrimp.. All the very best Davie
Morning David, I used an Indian hen neck which I dyed teal blue though I would be happy to use genetic hen neck or saddle though the chances are you will need to dye them yourself... All the very best Davie..
Been watching Ian on here for some time now & seen him whip one up himself, he’s not just as fussy as you Davie but does well! The Salmon don’t seem to give a shite! Lol anyway cheers for the video & cheers to Ian too! 👍
Wow, Ian Bain Special this looks different from the one tied on his channel. Could Mr. Bain be hiding this special fly from His subscribers? 🤔😂 Stay safe folks we are on lock down for another month here in Chicago🇺🇸 and our area has many CV19 cases Including several we know. Nice tie BTW, wish we could use doubles here but not allowed in all salmon/trout waters where I fish. 🙏☦
Beautiful FLY! Excellent tyer !
Thanks Davie for the fly! It worked perfectly on the Kola Peninsula in June; I caught about 15 salmon with it. Great fly!

Thanks Davie.
Another lovely fly that will help keep us all a little saner while stuck at home. Can't wait to get out and use some.
Always loads of tips in these. Thank you.

Hi Iain, Davie, Is this the normal tail? I thought it was yellow biots?
Hi Andrew,

@@DavieMcPhail thank you for the quick reply.
Amazing. You seemed in a rush. Hope all is well. Maybe my brain is just slow this morning
Cracking video
I just found out about your video's. I'll be busy for awhile. Depending on how many video's you've made.
Iain bain ties it on his RUclips channel 👍
Davie is the blue hen a cape or saddle is it a genetic, is it a fancy make or normal.
Sorry for so many questions

@@DavieMcPhail thank you so much Davie for taking the time to answer me.
“It’s up to yourself” X 9. Such a non rigid, invitational presentation. Takes all the pressure off. Makes me want to try it.
