Brilliant. Dave sure had big ears...the French original, 'Pense a moi', came out only a few months before this audition, proof that 'The Hippest Old Man In Jazz' was certainly just that!
thanks... he's my uncle... interesting to know about the French original... Dad and Dave were half French... their father full French but generations in North America (Poitiers region > Montreal > NY & Boston)
@@super-intelligentastrology3572 Oh wow! I trust you've seen the documentary that was filmed at the time of this recording? It's called 'Audition At RCA' by DA Pennebaker. It's fantastic. Also, bassist Bill Crow has a website with fantastic stories of Dave, too. As an aside: at the height of LH&R, my father struck up a conversation with Dave outside a club here in Chicago while the band was on break. Dave was taking photos of the street which was wet with rain and had the lights glistening off it, and explained to my dad what he was seeing & how he was going to frame the photo, etc. I met Dave's daughter not long ago and told her about this, too. The interaction must have meant a lot to my father, seeing as he remembered it so many years later.
@@WayOutWardell I was a little confused when documentary was mentioned ... I guess cos I see Audition at RCA more in lines of a music video haha. Yeah someone in Pennebaker's company sent me a copy of the DVD many years ago likr sbout 30ya. Love the little anecdote :) I will try looking up Bill Crow. Might have seen before... I have a fb page where I put a lot of links. I forget a lot of the things I've done :P
Think about a new love, and think about a true love, and every time you do think of me. Think about a dream love, and if you've ever seen love. Every time you do think of me. Think about the way it'll be, and about the way you can see every little love dream come true. Think about the love you will give, long enough to last while you live, just as long as I'm there with you. Think about an old love, and think about a faux love, and every time you do think of me. Think about a real love, and if you ever feel love. Every time you do think of me. Think about the way it'll be, and about the way you can see every little love dream come true. We had something very special back then. I won't be surprised if, somewhere in the world, there's someone who has discovered this style, this tune, this arrangement, and is working on it, fine tuning it, polishing it, trying little "touches" and will perform it, record it, and it will grow and be enjoyed by millions. Again.
The lost album! The fact that it didn’t come out makes it extra special. Plus, the documentary is just amazing.
That's my uncle (Dave Lambert)... which documentary was that pls? 😀😀
outtasight when was this recorded..............dave was the coolest

France Gall sang the original version.
