Building the Yardistry Greenhouse from Costco 🌱 Foundation and Framing the Walls

- I'm so excited to finally be building the greenhouse that I bought from Costco by Yardistry! We spent half a day working on leveling out the ground and building the foundation base on which the greenhouse would sit. Day 2 was a full day spent assembling the 4 walls and building them up on the base.
I highly recommend reading the instructions thoroughly and paying attention to the details in the pictures the instruction booklet provides. This was so helpful.
We used 4x6 boards for the base and attached them with L brackets. See the supplies list below for more details.

Thank you for explaining this step by step. Especially the rebar and measurements (with reduction). You’re a life saver for someone like me who knows nothing about this stuff. Thank you 💙
Getting ready to order this exact greenhouse. The foundation is a real sticking point for me, thank you for walking us through it so clearly!
Thanks so much for doing such a comprehensive build video.
Nice video. I just put mine together..instead of doing a whole base I just used six large pavers, one on each order and one the middle of each long beam to support the structure. Just made sure the pavers were level corner to corner and across. Seems to support it nicely and only took an hour to install the base.
Love that idea. Do you have it posted on RUclips for viewing? I’m in the planning stages
Hey there! Not sure how I missed this! Last night, we hit the sheets for sleep, they fed me this video. We were watching and thought wow, great job, and then heard our name! We sat up straight so excited lol thank you for the mention and wow great job!!
Great video. I just bought mine and had it delivered and am in the planning phase consuming a bunch of videos like this. This is very helpful, thank you for putting it together!
this is the most helpful video for foundation I have found. thank you
Just bought this greenhouse. We're waiting to assemble it this fall. Great video!
Great Video. I’m ready to start my wife’s this morning. I own a paver / hardscapes business so I am laying a Unilock Richcliff paver floor first then building off of that 🫡
Great job and video thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing. We just purchased a Yardistry Greenhouse (6.7 X 7.8). Would liked to have seen you prepare and install the Side Panels, i.e.; removing the film and adding the top and bottom tapes. Also, note to assembly: first confirm location of predrilled holes to assure correct placement of wood pieces. The (1119) Front base is case in point.
Thanks
Great video! I am waiting for the weather to get better and I will hopefully be recording a similar video. Happy gardening!
Thanks Dave! I can’t wait to see your greenhouse!
Great video, very helpful. Thx!
Thank you for documenting this! This was very helpful as I recently started assembling our Yardistry Greenhouse.
One question I have that I didn't see in your video: Did you secure/attach the greenhouse baseboards to your 4x6 base; and if so, how? Thank you.
This was super helpful thanks!
I ordered one to build by myself. Looks easy.
How did it go?
@@jasontx1274 it was delivered two days ago. Now I have to finish putting my backhoe together, just replacing 20 hydraulic hoses and rebuilding 3 cylinders. Then I can dig out 8 stumps and grade the area. I also need to get some railroad ties for the perimeter.
@@aircommuter so not so easy all in all...lol. Just kidding. How did it go? I built mine in 2 days. Its pretty cheap in my opinion. I would not buy again.
@@theavocadofamily9853 still sitting in the box, I need it to rain so I can do the grading. I dug out five stumps but without rain I can’t do a proper grading job. While I am waiting it’s cut and split wood for winter and machining some parts for one of my tractor restorations.
Just ordered 12-27-23 from Costco.
Can you list your materials purchased for the base? Specifically the length of the wood
Instructions will tell you the foot print. Should be 7' 3" by 6' 3.5" this is the total length and width of each side. Length ot each board depends on how you cut.
Wonderful Video!
I put together a list based on what you stated and what I saw on the video:
4 @ Simpson Strong-Tie 2-in x 3-in 12-Gauge
Galvanized Steel Angle
1 @ Power Pro #8 x 1-1/2-in
Epoxy One Exterior
Wood Screws
8 @ 0.38-in x 2-ft Steel
#3 Rebar
10 @ American Countryside
0.5-cu ft Tan Paver Base
Sand
10 @ American Countryside
0.5-cu ft Gray Paver
Base
4 @ Simpson Strong-Tie 4-in x 2-in 20-Gauge
Galvanized Mending Plate
4 @ Severe Weather 4-in x
6-in x 8-ft #2 Southern
Yellow Pine Ground Contact Pressure Treated Lumber
Does this look correct?
Hi! Did you remove the grass before laying down the landscaping fabric? Thanks!
Is your greenhouse in shade most of the day? We just bought one last week and noticed the spot I wanted to put it, gets a lot of shade, so we started building the base in an all sun location for the seedlings to take advantage of. I know some people just turn their greenhouse into a craft shed lol
Love the video can you tell me how thick you laid the paver base the paver base I bought from Lowes is finer your looks like there is rocks mixed in
I bought mine from Menards. It’s about 1.5 inches thick.
There is paver base and paver sand. We used both with the paver base on the bottom but honestly you probably don’t need the paver sand.
How well does this hold up in wind. We get some pretty strong winds in the midwest
Do you have to build a wooden base? Or can you just to patio stones?
How big are the boxes when delivered?
There are two boxes, and they are large and heavy. About 3’x7’ and 300 pounds.
If you measured 6'8 /7'10 the frame is to big for greenhouse
I get what is meant. The frame is build to have the garden house centered on it. Since the base is 6 inches wide, you will have an inch on the inside and outside left. It's not necessary, but it's done for extra support.
Is that foundation lumber pressure treated?
Yes!
@@larosablooms did you know that the pressure treated lumber these days will corrode the rebar? Since the change in pressure treatment metal brackets on hoses have corroded off completely and codes now call for hot dipped galvanizing or stainless steel. It is worse where moisture is involved.
@@aircommuter I did not know that. Thanks for the info!
Does the pad / foundation have to be set before the house can be delivered and set up?
We built the foundation before setting it up but we had stored it in the garage for a few months in the box before we had time to build the foundation.
@@larosablooms Hi, great video! I appreciate all the tips and details. Did you have your greenhouse delivered? I'm wondering how large the boxes are. They must be relatively heavy, since there is only 2 boxes.
@@gail7998 Thanks! We did not have it delivered and were totally unprepared to take it home. The boxes are long but fit into a GMC terrain with the seats down but we had to tie down the trunk. I can't even believe we did it. The boxes are VERY heavy. We needed assistance loading it into the vehicle. You need at least 2 strong adults but more would be better. We ended up sliding the boxes out of the car and into the garage and that is where we assembled it.
@@larosablooms Thank you again. So helpful. New subscriber :)
@@gail7998 thanks for the support!
Did you post part two?
Yes! It’s coming out this week. We had to wait in screws but it’s finished!
Buy a treadmill next.
Terrible mic audio 😅
Did you ever secure the greenhouse to the base? I know you used rebar to secure the base into the ground but then it looks like the grenhouse just sits on top?
They did not. It ended up in my back yard and now I have a nice greenhouse which I did secure 🤪
