Update: Heap o shit jammed up after 25 rounds. Seems the receiver cap being made of plastic fails and locks the bolt back. There’s a shade tree repair on RUclips and Savage knows about the problem. They have a replacement metal cap but don’t have them in stock because they let thousands of these go out to the public. They want me to send the gun in. I’m still waiting on reply for them to refund my money. Horrible customer service.
I bought one a couple weeks back. Due to the frigid temps I was unable to get out to the range until yesterday. Shot around 30 rounds through mine before my fingers froze. I was able to zero my scope in a shoot two five shot groups. From what I saw at the range these little rifles are very accurate straight out of the box. I'm anxious to see how well it shoots once the barrel is fouled in and try other brands of ammo. Very well done review. I was hoping to find more reviews on this rifle but everyone seems to be hung up on the CZ's, VooDoo's and the 10/22's. That's fine, I have a couple of 10/22's myself but for me I wanted a reasonably priced rifle that has good accuracy. Every savage rifle I've ever owned has been a shooter center fire to rimfire and budget friendly.
Just picked this gun up a couple weeks back, and after testing about half a dozen different brands of ammo. I found it likes SK High Velocity the best. Also, the trigger breaks clean but it's pretty stiff. MCARBO has a trigger spring kit that will shave roughly a pound and a half off (based on other youtube videos). So that'll be next on the list.
Forgot to mention. The 20 round magazine that comes with the gun looks cool as hell, but it jams like crazy. I've got two of them, and they both do it regardless of the ammo quality. I just run the traditional 10 round model 64 mags, with no issue.
Starter? Don't say starter. This is going to be my main pea shooter when the world collapses into chaos because it is all I can afford. Besides I have my tactical 12 guage pump and SD9 S&W for the heavy stuff.
You're right, I just got one a month ago and it has that lousy trigger with no easy way to adjust it. Mcarbo makes a spring kit for it that takes the pull weight down to around 3.5 lbs so I'm going to try that out.
Is that a bad joke? FYI You should never dry fire any rimfire without a “snap cap”! Rim fires have an offset firing pin and you can damage the firing pin with dry fire. Even if you just have one rimfire buy some snap caps.
@@ryanjofrewooow, really? I AM asking about this particular riffle because the bolt does not stay in open position after last Shell and the manual says IT is immune. That's why.
I'm twelve turning 13 soon and I was wondering what I should ask for a present. Me and my father love to shoot guns together and am going to ask for this. I was searching on Cabela's and I think that savage makes good guns and I got my first rifle from them. I had always wanted my own semi automatic and this one I saw was pretty cheap. I'm going to ask my dad for this tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Good dayy, I too have tgis same exact rifle, but how can I add the (Bipod & Grip)?.....if a rail mount is needed to do so, how can I attach it? THANKBYOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE😊
Yeah bro savage is a1 specially for budget. If you get one that jams its gonna jam first 20shots if it does take it back get a new one. I also have a red dot. Amazing company
If it's essentially the same rifle if you take the stock off I would like to know if you can put that on a regular model 64 then. You know upgrade what I have.
1/2024, my experience with two of these has been dismal to put it lightly, and Savage just gives me the run around on warranty repairs. I will never buy another Savage again.
Enjoyed this breakdown great video
As always, another well made video.
Keep up the good work guys.
Bought one today for my soon-to-be 10-year old granddaughter to plink around here with. Thanks for the concise review.

Just bought . Looks interesting. Love my savage 22lr with threaded bull barrel so this was a no Brainerd for the price

It has an adjustable accutrigger.

You damn right it jams. I expected way better from savage.
Yeah me too first magazine load was flawless but everything after that misfed
So I just got one and I’ve almost put 300 rounds through it but it jams a lot
Do you have the name of the bipod and or forgrip
Nice review, thanks!
I had the same question. Thanks
Hey any chance you can help me out with where to buy attachments? I'm looking for a grip but not having much luck.
This gun has an Mlok style rail. I would recommend magpul. They should have something you’re looking for

Stevenson tactical 12 gauge don’t get the black one get the flat earth with heat shield gun is bar none for price trust me
I just bought mine I’m so freaking psyched
Do you have the links for the bipod, foregrip and muzzle/silencer that you have?
I had feeding issues right off the bat and tried a variety of ammo. Other than the feeding, it's been a great gun.
Do you have a link to the foregrip and bipod?
@mwmag, details on the muzzle brake please....
details/part #'s on the folding grip and the muzzle brake on the Savage 64 please?
I'm also looking for the muzzle brake, I think Brownells has one that's similar, but haven't verified that yet.
If you don't mind me asking what bipod and broom handle you running
Where did you get the foregrip
Bought mine, threw it in the closet. 2 months later got it out, won’t cycle any ammo I’ve tried to date. Swapped mags out, same issue. Sad
Where'd you get the Fore grip for this?
where can I get the accessories????
Accu-trigger!
When did they start installing a Accu-trigger on a 64?
Unfortunately, unless they have updated the gun, it does not have the Accutrigger. I was hoping it did when I bought mine but no dice.

Have the reg 64F . I will need to add this Savage to my .22 collection . Glad to see a 20 plus one added . Does it also fit the reg 64F?
Yes.. but they are 50$. Hard to swallow that price.
Got one from gunmag warehouse for 35 shipped.
Definitely gonna get one of these. Good video, brother.✝️👍🏻
Could you add where you found your muzzle brake? I understand it's 1/2-28, I like the one this rifle is sporting and am looking for it.
How does it react to dryfire?
Is that a bad joke? FYI You should never dry fire any rimfire without a “snap cap”!

What sights are you using?

Please Link Your build components thanks

Hey, you need any M-Lok bipod or grip. They attach to the rail. No need for any kit. Just type it MLOk accessories
Have one of these. Put a Vortex rimfire scope on it. Super fun and accurate at 100 yds. And cheaper for plinking than my big boys.
Where did you get the 20 round clip. I can't find a place that sells them
off of the guns site it comes with a 20 round clip
Lack of last-round bolt hold open is super disappointing
Yeah you have to pop it in manually like an airsoft... still fun at the price

It's an entire Palomar frame.
The stock isn't removable.
Go buy one. I've had mine for about a month. I love it
I'm Sold.

Very nice video but I can push all 20 rounds in no problem
Haha for real! Like how hard can it be to get that spring squished to the baseplate?
Only if it was a 10/22 it would be a homerun
This guy is terrible with his responses . So many questions in the comments
