As a working corso owner (In southern Italy) when people ask me should i get one i say no. If you have to ask this breed isn't for you imo. They're a 50/50 dog. Get it right and it's an amazing companion/working dog... get it wrong and you have a 12 gauge shotgun with a brain and a bad attitude. Unfortunately social media is ruining the breed (as with all breeds) and they're becoming popular for the wrong reasons. Wouldn't surprise me if they're not on the banned breed list in 5-10 years because idiots with no knowledge of the breed and too much free money to spend get them as an accessory.
Thank you! I felt this way about Pitbulls years ago. I know many Pit owners get mad when I say, it's a great dog...IF. If it has the right genetics and right owners. I always hear the usual, " But my pittie is the sweetest. " Or " My pitt is the toughest" from the wrong kind of owner.
I personally, have owned mostly German Shepherds. But, I've helped train several breeds. I wish there were more people like you speaking out. I think the Cane Corso breed is amazing, if breed well and it's in the right hands.
Hey mate, you said you are in Italy? Can you still find good Neapolitan mastiffs there? Not the unhealthy ones we seem to find everywhere
@@davet8134 I'm not sure about Neo's. They're not that common where i am but everyone has old type corso here. Rare to see one with that bulldog face the show types have.
You are 100% right my friend, so many dogs are banned because the owners get them for wrong reasons with no knowledge how to handle them.
Agreed! read the comment above
My baby boy is now 2 years old and he is the most amazing dog I've ever had he's a mommas boy
Did you hear about the HUMAN boy that was murdered in Edmonton by 2 cane corsos?
@@warondogs8199 not shocking in the slightest bit. a lot of people get these dogs because they want to look tough but they don't realize it has a higher prey drive. anything smaller than it can be prey to them at times.
@@warondogs8199 I haven't sorry I'm from the uk and my deepest condolences to the family 🙏
@@warondogs8199 and the point is? Sad troll you are.
Don't feed the trolls. This commenter hates dogs, so he's just spreading hate that has nothing to do with you or your dog.
I read somewhere that the worst thing that can happen to a dog breed is for it to become popular. The genetics get watered down, worse off physically and mentally.
Seeing cane corsos used like this is eye opening to me. I did not imagine they would be able to work so closely with cattle, let alone chase and CATCH rabbits. Amazing breed.
They are amazing dogs and top choice for families too 🫶
Mine is a very versatile dog: she herds, and catches and pins my Boxer when he's ran off. I now just send her to get him and bring him back. Everyone in the circle of trust is under her wing, even the other animals.
This is what they were bred for. Not just as protection dogs as they are being popularised in the US for. They are working dogs and it’s good to finally see a video showcasing that.
@@My-22-Cents Absolutely, the Roman war dog thing is mainly fantasy, Mastiffs in general can claim the same,
2000 years of breeding for farm dogs later....
thats why some breeds like dutch shepherds and others non popular breeds are healthy... the exemple of giant schnauzers, dobermans and beauceron imo. Dobies are the one that are getting destroyed or others exemple like gsd and malinoi though mals are solids
Had the pleasure of visiting scarhouse and meeting Natalie. I can’t praise her enough. Her pack is amazing. I had so many questions to ask Natalie but didn’t get to ask any as she answered everything just in conversation she has a wealth of knowledge and the love her pack show her is second to none. Would highly recommend visiting if you’re interested in owning one of these amazing dogs. We got our beautiful boy Kal-El from Natalie and can’t thank her enough
Natalie, and her mate Ali are both great woman

I'm stunned at seeing a dog that size being fast enough to catch rats and rabbits. Proper.
🙌
What can I say. Another good episode to watch. Been on RUclips I always watch. Or catch up I do. Thank you so much. I hope you make the programme for months and years to come
Aw Thankyou so much
My neighbor had one with the best name ever…Boulder! Loved him. However, while I appreciated him, I could not be a good owner of one because I couldn’t work him or care for him financially. I love from afar.
That brindle girl catching the rabbit is the great granddaughter of my old Corso.
Anneka thank you very much for sharing another beautiful and very interesting video! This is a wonderful and very powerful breed, one of the best guard dog! Have nice time Anneka 🙏😍🐺
I have a 16 month old neopolitan corso mix true beast of a dog amazing with his family and friends other dogs alot of work truly amazing dogs tho
You are blessed to have a chill dog, me too. Your boy must look amazing, like an old-style more-functional Neo. In the 1990's Neo's looked more like massive Corsos. I would think that a cross may be like that. Lucky fisherman.
Majestic Dog 🐕

Hello Anneka, love your amazing video. Thanks for sharing your information on the dogs have a nice weekend and looking forward to your next video😀✌🏻🕊️🌹🕊️🐾🐾🐾🐾❤️
Absolutely amazing animal watch & scar house C.C & the stars of the episode Coal & Ivonn👏🏻👊🏻👏🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Scar house corso owner here. Great dogs and great breed
Congratulations 🙌
These are beautiful dogs and extremely fit. It's great to see dogs being used for work, especially when working in roles that many people today do not usually see this type of dog doing. Loved seeing the dogs running on the farm and handling pest control and others helping with the sheep. Well done.
I think a lot of Corsos would be successful at this - I've seen general, versatile farm dog behaviour in some of today's dogs. They'd be 'Jack of all trades, masters of none'. They'd love it.

Sounds good!!
As a lover of Cane Corso's and working dogs, I really liked this one. Thanks Animal Watch! 👍
Beautiful Creatures
I enjoy all of the in-depth research you put into your questions !
Thankyou
Wow those beautiful animals
Gorgeous dogs❤
Beautiful dogs!
I likely have trained more cane Corsos than any other trainer in the us, have met giant to small ones, docile to red zone - the one consistently true fact is dogs from working lines train easier than and more willing than show line ones. This is true of most pure breeds though.
LOVE THEM
I own a cane corso that was bred by scar house, he is the most amazing dog I’ve ever had.
He’s 16 weeks now and a dream, we met all of Natalie’s corsos and they are beautiful majestic loving dogs, especially ivonn, the dogs with crops are imports she didn’t do it personally, she’s amazing her dogs are amazing, awesome animal watch 😊
Anneka, 👱♀Thanks for sharing Cane Corso are cool! love the channel, love all dogs also cats. Cheers 🍕🍕

The Cane Corso is one of my favorites!! 😊
Awesome. Best dog you can get.

My boy is nearly 21 months old, he is so fast when running it's unbelievable, also such a strong swimmer even against river current, so loving and protective.
Our best friend ❤
Is he dog-social,? I'm interested in finding out what general percentage have this trait.
@vikkiwilson5069 hi yes he's normally ok as long as they accept him, if they bark or growl as we get closer he'll retaliate with aggression (he's got a few scars from little
biters) but if their friendly he loves to run around with them.
We have working type neopolitan mastiffs in Australia. They look a lot like these. Found in NSW and Queensland mostly. I think a lot of them have a bit of Great Dane added for legs. They can be used as part of a team to hunt feral pigs or are just home pets, guard dogs.
But I wonder what their dna tests would say. They’re usually advertised as neos when selling pups.
We had an influx of Italian immigrants here after ww11 not unlike the US. They’ve always had these dogs. Brought them with them.
Working line Neos are very similar, just a bit more heavily built. The show line Neos are a hot mess though. Too much skin, poor things.
My Corso got locked out of my office so she cried for five minutes and then stripped the door surround, the skirting boards and finally bit a hole in the wall, a pile of plaster underneath.
I think a Sunderland lass in Yorkshire with great dogs. Nice ))
Cheers 😂
as always breathtaking, magical and beautiful. dogs are great too ;)
All respect and appreciation, well done, good luck and lasting success

i walk one , and sit with Coco, up to four times a week,18 months old and a beauty ,loving , loyal and a great guard dog, the perfect dog
Excellent mam👍👏👏🔥🖤
Beautiful breed ❤
I think so too!
Very informative video. I particularly found the difference between the working line and show line Cane Corso interesting. It was reminiscent of the Dogo Argentino videos showing the working and show line varieties.
Yes that is quite similar.
AMAZING I WAN'T ONE.
I love the UK working Cane Corso! This is a little or a lot of constructive criticism and since I don’t have a Corso of any kind myself I don’t like the shortness of the legs of the UK Cane Corso or the eye problems I’m noticing they are the only two things I dislike about the UK Corso so I guess my opinion really doesn’t matter everything else I love, I’ve seen only two in America that are working Corso’s they are a little taller both females! One died some say maybe a snake bite not sure but work the same as yours! I have a tough decision to make when it’s time for me to get a pup! From your kennel or the American kennel, which is a long ways off maybe 2yrs from now! Keep up the great work I enjoyed watching!
Cane Corso magnificent breed of dog excellent guardian breed
Absolutely 🙏
The Cane Corso reminds me of a larger, healthier boxer dog. It's nice to see a mastiff dog breed that is healthy and athletic as well as highly intelligent.
🙏🙌
Speaking of the collie, could you do a video on that breed too?
The cane Corso will not entertain strangers. You have to be invited into their home. I know you got the MEMO. 💜
Fantastic that's my baby. ❤
Honestly one of the best dogs , keep up the great work ❤ also small reminder would love to see that karelian bear dog vid 😅❤

Do you look like cool looking dogs thanks for the information about them it was educational for me to learn about those dogs and they're cute
Thankyou
Longer to train protection comment. They know it’s not real. They are amazing at distinguishing the real threat level unlike every other breed . But when they do commit they change. Not the dog you knew. Something else comes over them. It’s not even really aggression. It’s more like a deep satisfaction at unleashing their power. They are unnaturally strong.
I photographed a Sable colored Corso in Harlem..beautiful..I was on ecstasy..ha!!
I have a full blood Cane Corso. Hes awesome and very powerful and very social with people.
🙌
Could you please make a video of German Shepherd Dog doing work like herding sheep, in particular sheep tending which is not like say a Border Collie moving a herd of sheep. You can check "Von Messelhof" for reference. I, as an example, have taught my GSD to herd my small flock of chickens - it's a work in progress but he is getting really good at it. Now a video like this would be amazing. Thanks for such great videos. It is wonderful to see the Cane Corso do work other than barking and protecting and rather working around the farm. Also nice to see full ears and tails.
Yes! Absolutely. Going to do the Malinois soon on this topic
Mans second best friend🥰
♥️
No farmers no food. Farmers are awesome.
My sister has a puppy that is a mix with one. ♥️
I was surprised they didn't dock the tails. A working Corso's tail should be docked. But that's just my preference
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Anneka, if someone had a gun to your head and made you pick a breed, Cane corso or Boerboel, which would it be and why?
Something similar happened with the Belgian mastiff (just about totally extinct). If was used for protection, hauling cargo, war and guard duty.
The truth is that the Italian mastiff can be pretty much any weight. As long as the dog is proportional, and can work.
Varius forgot to bring his dogs with him on his Germanic journey. Look what happened.
You should look into Black mouth Curs or Mountain curs.
I think every dog can do everything , it just depends on the owner
Amazing video again 🥳
Thankyou
I'm a big fan of wolves and I like how you like wolves too.
Our male corso was trained mostly by my female blue heeler.
He is a good dog; however, I’m failing at teaching him hand signals.
The white streak..so pretty..I see a Dogo..nearby..sweet
Please cover more mix breeds
The weight is about 15 lbs off for males on average
love them and you. built just like my 110 pound white boxer. thanks again for your great videos. ❤
110 pound boxer?! Here I thought my 95 pound boxer was big. 😆
yes and people think hes a mix with american bulldog but hes pure. he is so sweet to all and a local hero saving a family of three little girls their dad and dog from vicious full grown dobie attack.

Can you please make a one about Great Danes because I have always wanted one and I want to know more about them
i think she did make one but its one of her older vids
That’s true. There is a Great Dane episode if you search for it
The last time mine was weighed he was 109 pounds
Dressed like a roman soldier with a modern harness and leash. Sure i’ll buy it. 😂
So much prettier with intact ears
Today's Cane Corso has no connection to do with dogs, which were used in the Rome area, and today's Cane Corso are mostly home pets...
Can you please interview the Serbian defence dog
U should make videos on Dalmatian too. Have you ever thought about this?

Most cane corso do not have the nerve for protection work. They can do it but it is hard to find. Working line German shepards and malinois are the best suited
The cane Corso is best for ‘family’ protection dogs as the calmest and best for families. Malinois are never used as family protection dogs as too wired and energetic. Malinois great for guarding buildings as security dogs, police and army
@@Animal-Watch malinois make great personal protection dogs. If trained correctly ( balanced ) and exercised physically and mentally they can be neutral/calm in the home. Cane Corso’s are great dogs, but like most mastiffs it’s very hard to find a good one that can perform reliably and at a high level doing protection work
110pounds I’d say is just about average. They get a lot bigger

Great vid. Don't like to see the cut ears though, unnecessary in my view.
My need 2 pcs baby, prices?
Please show us next time the working line dogo argentino please
There is an episode on the working dogo argentino already
Sister your channel very intersting i like it your help me ?
Why do they look that massive. Mine is 1.3 yo and isnt like that lol
And its ears were cut off to protect it from.. rabbits?

I like cane corsos but I also think they'd be way more suited breeds for hunting rabbits and flock guarding. The largest predator we have in the UK is probably a fox. A German shepherd would deal with foxes no problem and why not use whippets for rabbit hunting!!!
I guess it’s down to personal preference. This lady prefers Cane Corsos to whippets and German shepherds.
Most Corso have the dog bred out of them. Big sooks, no drive and only good for the couch.
These ones don’t
@@Animal-Watch most I said, small percentage that can work and they are hard to find
loved this, but gotta laugh at the comment on the high energy needing lots of exercise. my boy is 3.5 fit healthy but excessively lazy and has been from when we got him at 8wks with no preydrive. amazing family protector, wonderful with children. bestest dogs ever!
Is he working line or show line? My Corso needs quite a bit of exercise and stimulation or he can become a real nuisance 😅
When it eats you, you find out.
You all always find out…….late.
Too strong for me😢
Sorry but I don't know where you got these measurements of the Cane Corso, I've had the breed for over 20 years and all the ones I've had to date have weighed and weigh on average 75 to 80kg which is more than 170 pounds with a male even reaching more than 90kg and are much larger in size, not just in weight! And I've never had a fat dog, they're all muscular! But great content as always!
The working breed line for herding is smaller, simply because it needs to be faster and more agile. There are North American (larger, heavier) vs European lines, and each has more than one working "type" of Corso: hunting, protection, herding, etc.
Larger isn't always better. Dogs at 170lbs are often times not at all good at working.
Most working dogs range from 40 -130 lbs
While some are larger, it does increase risk of bloat, hip and elbow issues.
You also need to wait longer before working dogs that size as it takes longer for the bones to develop.
The dogs in this video are Olympic level athletes vs another line that is more equivalent to body builders. They might look cool but functional is more important for a working dog.
im curious as to where youre getting your dogs from. because a male within the standard should only be a bit over 100 lbs. and a female should be under. 🤷🏻♂️ sounds like you had mutts
@@wordsbyeli💯
If you actually listened to the video, she specifically said her working breed and less on the stocky, muscular build side and are bred with an athletic build. Thats how theyre able to do what they do-- like catch rabbits!
Sorry but IMO you didn’t need to show it killing the rabbit and why is it necessary to cut their ears.
Buying just because they can be huge and can be ferocious is not the right reason to buy one. They can be very good dogs if bred right and can also be very dangerous depending on the breeder. There was a case some years ago in San Francisco where a pair of cane corsos killed a member of the gay community that has some power in that local. The attack was unprovoked and one of the owners was convicted of a very serious felony. They were being keep in an apartment and the convicted owner was not able to control them. An apartment in a crowded city is not the place for such dogs.
I got a two year old corso. And honestly, im disappointed. No guarding instinct whatsoever. When my boxer passed away i needed a dog that could fill in his shoes and its not even close. He doesnt even bark much. He looks intimidating for sure but thats it. What could be wrong?
No training the instinct?
The cane corso is not meant to bark. He will patrol/watch the surroundings and he won't get necessarily up, even if someone comes closer to the gate, if he doesn't perceive him as a threat.
