    I miss kaya jam so much! It was a lot of fun to see your parents try all this new food and join you for the sight seeing. Looked like it made a memorable trip!

    Bak Kut Teh is differentiated by dialect group.
    Teochew style is the 'white' peppery soup.
    Hokkien style is the 'darker' herbal soup.
    Just happen Singapore has more Teochew while Malaysia has more Hokkien.

    I didn't know you're mixed. Happy you still visiting Malaysia and Singapore.
    Edit: I'm not sure if you know Bak Kut Teh in Malaysia and Singapore are different. Malaysia one is darker with chinese herbal taste and Singapore one is like white pepper soup taste.

      I've actually never tried Bak Kut Teh in Singapore, so no I didn't realize it was different! Will have to give it a taste next time!
