The only issue i had with this episode was the side characters being what Amy might describe ‘dull as a brick’ And the lack of consequences this episode had with the turn back time plot (which was rectified by the name of the doctor having it be somewhat remembered) Besides those, this episode was a solid enough, fascinating and sometimes even scary.
No, i thinkthe tardis created that room with the book and the encyclopedia. Both the 9th and the 10th doctor are very scarred by the time war. They both try to hide this deep inside them but at the same time it keeps pushing back to the front. The tardis is a living being, so it makes sense the tardis would also be scarred by it, and the room is hidden deep inside the tardis but at the same time the book is a very prominent feature of the room, pushed itself to the fronbt and center of the room.. I always thought that beautifully mirrors how the doctor struggles with this history.
Well, sometimes therapists recommend writing out what happened to the patient. Maybe this was a bit of therapy for doctor and also to make sure the history is not forgotten
Should have been a 2 parter.. more time to explore rooms and characters. Ep 1 would be the countdown with the cliff hanger being they're actually in real danger then you go deeper into the tardis, get more character development and see more wacky zaney rooms
This is legitimately one of Matt Smith's greatest episodes in my mind. The monsters are a bit naff, but they're not really an important focus. I really like the Van Baalen brothers (Although they remind me of my cousins, so I might be biased), the Tardis looks great (And I'm not even a massive fan of this era's console!) and The Doctor's blowup at Clara on the engine cliff is one part of the Impossible Girl arc that I have no problems with at all. For all people talk about how well the arc works in The Rings of Akhaten, I much prefer it here!
Season 7 is my least favourite season. I don’t know why I responded to your comment with this but you seem like a cool doctor who fan so why not i guess
@@jamescarr1265 Oh, I'm not a massive fan of Series 7 either, it's nowhere near my favourite. And thanks for the compliment, you seem pretty cool yourself!
such wasted potential... I''d be over the moon if Davis took a crack at an internal TARDIS episode with how big the shows buget is now... However sadly i just don't think its ever going to happen and 10 year old me will be forever depressed that Sci-Fi Physics and TARDIS shananigas is always at the bottom of the list
Can I just say that when the RTD2 era of Doctor Who begins, the Celestial Toymaker, just like the Great Intelligence, is a classic Doctor Who villain that hasn’t been seen for a long time, while Beep the Meep and the Wrarth Warriors are from the Doctor Who comic series.
aside from the ending with the full reset, i really enjoyed the episode. compared to older episodes the monsters look ok, even if i also dont like the weird blur effects. The plot in general is great, with exeption of some logic-holes.
He didn't write reichanback call iirc, moffat completely rewrote it but he didn't put his name on the credits and then this guy tried to use that to jump into hollywood
Well, this is the first episode out of every single one you've reviewed that I literally have no memory of. I must have watched it, but this episode just..washed straight out of my brain
What is about youtube that makes people say truths they wouldn't otherwise. But my favourite aspect of this story was Clara's cute little dress ever (as you put it). I am a straight, middle aged bore but I just adored her character in that outfit. So much so I bought a t-shirt with her wearing it. I'm over skulls and daggers and punk band t-shirts everyone wears for some reason. Make no sense to me. If I think Clara looks beautiful in that dress, then why not wear a tee where I can look down at her all day! Gee talk about going off topic. Sorry but I have now watched the whole post and it is well argued and articulated. A great review.

I really like the part when they think they’re doomed, so the Doctor just straight up asks Clara who/what the hell she is.
I hated that scene tbh. And the whole reason the plot started. The Doctor seemed like a hugely emotionally manipulative bully throughout the episode.
She’s Susan from the Discworld books. She should’ve just said that.
I like Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS

Who wrote the History of the Time War? At this point it could only really be The Doctor, the question then is, why?
It might be a non Time Lord. We knew from series one that other species were aware of the Time War and the extinction of the time lords.
@@markpostgate2551 Yeah but who else would know the whole history, or his name

Peter Davison still has the best exploration of the TARDIS in Classic Who
Which episode?
