Nice work -- How are these holding up years later?
I've observed that generally speaking, the "cheaper" 3/4 leds burn out within a year. Even if you buy them "made in usa", like if you got those cheap Amazon usa made ones, then they didn't last long.
I got about 12 grote ambers from a local parts store, dot micro nova Mexican made -- not one ever went bad or had any indication of an issue over 5-years.
Bought a few trucklite 33 series in amber, made in USA - although expensive like 16$ per 3/4 led (lol), they had the best light output and pattern/projection, the quality of materials literally looked so much better but it lasted as long as The others.

Good info! So far, no issues, but to be fair, they still have zero “miles” on them 🤣 - still building the truck! I have wired them in with connectors to make them easy to swap out and I can get at the back of them, so if they do have a limited lifespan I can swap them out fairly easily.

Nice lights, have you installed any into a water tight space, such as the upper side walls with living space inside? I suppose a thin shot of silicone caulk might work. Step bit, these things are invaluable, I was a fabricator on a NASCAR team for 25 years and used these everyday, spend the money and get a good one, don’t cheep out on these.

Step bits are so nice! (As long as you don’t go one step too far!!). Have not put any of these lights into a watertight wall, but I suspect they’d be pretty good at keeping water out, and as suggested a little smear of clear silicone would probably make it even better. With the hole one size under they are a pretty snug fit.

1.40 Canadian? Son of a... I just paid $20.62 add a Petro in portage Wisconsin! For a 53 ft Wabash flatbed trailer. I guess it pays to plan ahead. Gotta stay D.O.T. compliant!
I found your video because I was looking for the trick to get the grommet and light in. With The grommet already pre-installed I thought maybe it all pushes in together. With your time lapse it was kind of hard to tell but it look like you installed the grommet first.
I will have to investigate that approach further before I start to panic.
Great video! I have subscribed, I'm looking forward to seeing how you installed that junction block

Yep, for sure easier if you put the grommet in first and then push the light into it! Thanks for the sub!

@@BruceandKristaYes sir! Grommet first makes a big difference! If only I had the right connectors. Oh well, they are shining bright now! You gotta love roadside repairs. Just another thing I'll have to deal with when I get back on 4-wheels.

How did you connect these weld or connector

I crimped the wires into push together connectors, so if I need to change one I don’t have to cut/solder the wires on the truck, I just unplug and replace.

So I’m wanting to install 5 marker lights on-top of my cab on my truck where can I get the necessary relay wiring kit?

    • @BruceandKrista

Are there currently no marker lights on top of your cab? LED's like this draw very little power, so if your vehicle was originally set up for incandescent bulbs for marker lights, you likely don't need to worry about installing a relay. If your truck has a "bulb bown" indicator, you may need to install some resistors to avoid the warning light from coming on.

These lights are so inexpensive, my trailer is gonna be so swiss cheese full of holes, it might not be safe. I did check the Amazon site and couldn't believe how cheap they were. Looks like you will never use the truck in the winter as all of those exposed connections won't last 2 months. I know from years of experience of driving semi over the road.

Yep, the plan once the truck is done is to never see winter again 🤣🤣. That said, I may just re-do them with some nice deutsch connectors, when all the other parts of the project are done 🤣
