Nope. No other generation of humans have ever seen this. This is what a _high-def camera_ can see in a clear sky. The cameras used are obviously far more sensitive to light than the human eye because the human eye can't see these things - we lose definition and color perception in low light. I know personally. I've stargazed in dark sky zones. The sky does not look like this, even without light pollution.
I've seen it at the darkest in Wyoming far from nothing. the milky Way actually illuminated the sand below my feet. It looked like the ground was slightly glowing when my eyes adjusted.

yea but not the same light emitted as cameras can pick up higher and lower levels of light and thus you can see more stars but dont get disappointed you can still see andromeda,m100,triangulum and other galaxies have a good day 😁
The sky looked AMAZING in the 80s compared to now...thunderstorms would make ANYONE believe that God was real and you had better be quiet while He was moving up there...the rains would cleanse the earth...but now the skies are hidden and silent...

This is how the sky looked like in my Middle East village when I was a child (1950s - before electricity). We even learned to spot Sputnik / other satellites as they travel across the sky every couple of hours. I would pay thousands to see that view again
I believe where I’m from, i’m a level 6. you’d have to squint to be able to count stars or see them. but i’d love to go somewhere where there is barely light pollution and i can just count the stars. but on thanksgiving/christmas feasts (where we go out 12-2 or how long you’re out, just depends) the sky is clear because the only light source that’s being shared are cars and houses that are sharing food. me and my cousins always count the stars while we have the chance. the only chance there are no light, is at 2-6 am or so. i try to stay up so i can view the stars before day comes again. (during those times, it’s a 5/4)
My dream in life is to go to that national park, I want to see the night sky for the first time since in my city I only rarely see one star in the sky, before I die I want to see space surround the night sky and to bask in awe of the cosmos

I live in a level 2/3, i used to live in a fairly large city. I had forgotten what the sky used to look like in the 70s, why i fell in love with astronomy. Light pollution maps can show you nearby places to see better skies, not totally accurate, but enough.
But what can you see with the naked eye? All of the amazing star photos are time lapse or still photos. Are there any videos out there of star filled skies that look like this with no still picture or time lapse?
We have a cabin in Northern MN and we can see around a 5-6 which looks pretty amazing. If i saw a 1 in person I don’t think I would ever want to leave.

Light pollution level 5 at my place. But because of the clouds, I can’t see the Milky Way, but in some certain seasons when the night sky is mostly clear, I can see like a million stars, and in some occasions, I can see The Milky Way.
In Germany exists so much light pollution even in the countryside there is like a 7 light pollution. Not even in national parks. I would need to drive 400 km /250 miles to see the milky way .
I will say, I've been to light pollution levels 5 and 4 recently and obviously the camera picked up ALOT more light than your eyes can. The milky way looked like a pretty grey dim rough light across the sky, no detail whatsoever. But level 4 was another story, it was pretty clear. Even so, it wasn't that bright and still black and white. Obviously, I saw it at about half 11 as the moon was set to rise soon but I'd love to go to a light pollution level 2 or 1 location.
hi there.. are those images what the naked eye sees or are they filtered through a lens or magnified. I am getting towards the twilight years and seeing the galaxy with my own eyes is on my bucket list. however, I do not want to be disappointed. I want to look up and see the same images that are in this video and I don't want to have to pay and reserve a telescope, wait in a Disneyland type line and get to look into it for 30 seconds then get some cheezy key chain souvenir. I want to take a tent or camper, watch the sun go down, then watch it rise again. I would be very sad not to have accomplished this before I die.
