Serious question here, being a RUclipsr influencer do they lift the maximum amount of cards you're allowed to open? I was opening 10 at a time last night and it stopped me after a hundred cards were out so that would have been 3 ten pax less than you opened
The reason you would want mew EX and budding expeditioner will be to safely power up Mewtwo EX and fully heal the mew to start powering up on the bench. At 130 HPn1 retreat+ a koga style bounce effect, mew ex is a pretty obvious replacement for baby Mewtwo in Mewtwo EX decks.
I prefer the 1 and 1 split, with 2 Leaf and one X Speed. I like 1 Mew because he's not really a good wall, more like an alternate winco, since he still gives 2 points to the opponent. I like the 2 Leafs because you can easily manouver your Mewtwo Ex and you baby Mewtwo out of the way. The deck has become a lot more flexible, and it really makes the difference
Celebi and serperior prob the most promising deck that comes from this set. New Gyarados + starmie + 1 line of Vaporeon kinda interesting too. Using starmie as early attacker then later switch to Gyarados and move the energy using Vaporeon. The problem mainly if u are forced to start with Magikarp going first
You slept on the Graveller. That's they key of the new geodude line. It allows you to use golem on curve now, 1 2 and then 4 with brock. Use the old Geo and Golem with the new Graveller.
For the Pokemon Flute I just realized it pairs well with Pidgeot EX, allowing it to make sure you have max dmg, and if you pair it with Sabrina/old Pidgeot you could use it to get a funny kill 😂
As a Blaine player the new Magmar is so so bad, don't fall for it, its a total red herring, the new Ponyta and Rapidash are completely insane for the deck though, so good to get some upgrades there
Given the alpha set, I'm disappointed we didn't get evolutions to Onix and Scyther, which would've created some variety for Metal decks and seen Onix and Scyther played more.
I think druddigon could be a really good early tank actually, for 0 energy you can do 20 damage to attacking pokemon and you have 100 hp, I dont think its ever worth it to go for the attack unless we get better water fire synergy decks but the ability alone makes it a solid pokemon that I could see finding its niche
Good card it’s just also competing with Taurus, Kangaskhan, and Wheezing. VS most EX decks Druddigon takes 2 hits and does 40 damage. You don’t even damage a Charizard deck with Moltres lead. Taurus you can build up on the bench so it’s more than just a tank. Wheezing tanks more and can deal more damage for no energy but at a deck building cost. Kangaskhan takes an energy but on average it will do more damage and can KO basics. I think you might need to wait for a fire water deck or be playing in the NoEX format for druddigon to be the best in slot. That or find a deck that desperately doesn’t want to waste energy but doesn’t have space for Wheezing.
Tried him with the new salandit/salazzle and tentacruel. Those 2 run a pretty good poison game with low energy so you can start charging up drudigon pretty good. probably some better Pokémon to throw in there but I don’t use popular EXs😭
Chatot pairs well with pidgeot Opponents can play around chatot by emptying their hand onto the bench, but that opens them up to full power attacks from pidgeot ex
If you want a deck for beheeyem use it with poke flute and pidgeot ex. It’s a basic beat down deck but it’s very effective, and slot a single mew ex and you’re golden
Scolipede has been fun playing around with poison decks - the payoff of getting up a stage 2 that exploits nice poison setup is really nice, and there's enough poison pokemon to try that it'll take some good experimentation time to solidify the deck. I really like a lot of the other cards, stuff like budding expeditioner and pokemon flute I especially like since they help create niche decks that play differently to the standard two pokemon sweeper ex decks, same reason I like blaine and koga as supporters who aren't relevant to most decks. Volcarona feels like it's close to great, with the poke flute it'd be a garenteed ko on a lot of basic pokemon, and threatening serperior for big super effective damage while it's living on the bench could be great at stopping celebi, though the two energy discard makes it tough. Mew should be really exciting to watch play out in the meta, since it has potential for high skill play in a lot of decks, besides its obvious fit in mewtwo decks.
I wonder for the energy that Gyarados discards, does the game check per pokemon with energy in play or per single energy in play. This makes a huge difference because it's the difference between knowing if you should use less energy or play pokemon on the bench whenever thinking of counterplays for Gyarados.
@moonlight2870 I'm aware that it would deduct energy one at a time. My question was more about whether it's a 1/8 chance if there is a full bench with one energy on each pokemon or a 1/5 chance if there are 5 energies in play from both you and the opponent. It's important to be aware of this because if it were the latter then Gyarados would need to put as little energy in play as possible and if it was the former the opponent would need to spread as little energy out as possible as to get the better chance that the other opponent gets the side effect. Another possible check it could do is that it first randomizes between the players and then it randomizes for the pokemon. That's a more fair system and wouldn't be too dissimilar to just hitting a coin flip.
I played 2 matches with it so far and in the first one it removed one energy from my gyarados and one from the opponent’s Pokémon but in the 2nd match it removed 2 energies from the opponent’s
Celebi-Serperior definitely feels the most 'pushed' to me. It plays out very similar to Mewtwo-Gardevoir, we'll probably be sick of seeing it soon enough, haha. (EX basic deals an average of 50 for 2 energy, with a supportive stage 2 that helps turn it into a one-shot machine.) I wrote off Gyarados when I first saw it, but I actually see the vision now with new Vaporeon! I'm excited to try it, probably with Articuno as well.
I was doing the solo challenges for the new card packs and got hit for 180 damage from an eevee after it got 9 consecutive head flips, and I was just about to clear all the tasks in one clean run too
I love Dragonite so I am using Mew ex and budding Expeditioner to stall. I am only using lightning and water energy since Mew ex's second ability can use any energy.
Literally passes by a 0 cost retreat +20 dmg Zebstrika and calls Lumineon a blank card, brain was turned off on that one. The one additional energy needed is so easy to overcome in water decks it's insane
You even called the Electabuzz okay just a few cards later??? Were you just trying to blitz through this video and hadn't read over the cards beforehand?
I think he misread Gyrados ex's attack completely, you don't discard an energy at random from any Pokemon on the field. You discard a random energy from ALL Pokemon on the field. It might even include Gyrados himself
No he read it right. Played against one last night and pretty sure it just discards a random one from among all Pokémon like it’s worded. Unless I missed something myself
I hate that hitmonlee is only 30 to just the bench but multiple new cards get to snipe any card for more damage. Also hitmonlee's damage isnt affected by weakness or Giovanni 😢. Justice for lee

Calling yourself old referring to a 2017 venusaur... I played the Super Trainer Showdown in 2001 with the original pokemon with that ability, Neo Genesis Meganium!
