@@ryanjoffe9090 I am now, it's really, really good, the colors are accurate providing you will get slightly more saturation on oled with gloss naturall vs ips matte. The low input lag however is actually underestimated, and will give you a productivity boost IMO.
There is no "coating" problem with QD-OLED's gray tint. Issue arises from the fact that blue OLED's that don't have any QD layer reflect back some of the outside light. This isn't fixable by coating, it is nature of the display technology itself and all Gen1 QD-OLED's will have same problem. Samsung did say they tried to improve this a bit with Gen 2 but issue still remains. Source: Watch this video 2023 QD-OLED TVs What’s New, Will it have MLA too?
So in short the reason would be that the blue LED is a passthrough layer instead of Quantum Dots for the other colors and since it's a passthrough layer there's a dome shaped scattering material for the blue LED and that it's this material that reflects ambiant light since it's job is to scatter whatever light gets shined onto it
I've known this for over a year now and all tech youtubers ignored my comment so I'm happy that more people finally catch on. If you want to know what's causing this it's the light scattering particles integrated into the qd layer. This is done to improve efficiency since q dots are so small that you need a scattering layer to increase that chance for light to actually hit them. So a polarizer wouldn't solve the problem and that's besides the point that the display most likely has one anyway further back to reduce reflections from the glass substrate. There is more I could share if anyone is interested like how there are clear signs that's it a 4 stack design with 3 blue stacks and 1 green stack instead of the originally marketed 3 blue stacks.

The key is to place your desk not just behind a window... pretty common sense as nobody will ever put a TV this way, why should we do with a monitor? Got it for 1100€, G9 was 100€ cheaper but based on feedback on repair service and noise, I picked the Philips which does offer 3 years warranty.About risk of burning, I do use monitor sleep mode after 15 minutes without activity, hide the task bar and let it refresh pixel every 4 or more hours, which give me the opportunity.. to have a break for few minutes. Not an issue.

That just depends on the subpixel layout (or the ability of the OS to enhance readability of text by exploiting subpixels). Every panel technology is capable of being simple straightforward RGB layout or more complicated layouts that do offer other advantages, but Windows just isn't able to handle those layouts gracefully (yet).

The difference to the other OLED monitors which has to be mentioned is the integrated KVM switch. In those days where Home Office is usual, the KVM switch is nearly a must have. And the price dropped to 899€ in Germany. Really thinking to get one.
Just ordered it from Finland .... just for 735€ shipping included! This is the cheapest OLED I could find new. Philips in Europe has a very strong and long reputation in video and music competing with Sony at some point. They got lost fighting with chinese but they do have a good background in video/image management. They seem to be active in maintaining the software (latest version is August 2024) ... I was hesitating with a refurb LG 45GR95QE-B for 100€ more aggressive curve. The price, usb c connectivity to plug all kind of tech toy out of the box and curve seems more usable for productivity. Overall seems more usable outside gaming.
Really bad review. You skipped two USB ports, fact this monitor fully supports KVM and PD. This is one of the main differences between other QD-OLEDs.... In addition Ambi Lights is really dim which causes that it's only visible in dark rooms, and in addition there is slight delay, so no point in using it in games. There is also an app that supports updates. And you receive every cable and vesa mount.
So if I am on my desktop surfing the internet how long before I get burn in like if I sat at the pc for 5 hours straight looking online will I get burn in from the images that haven’t changed like the hot bar at the bottom of the screen

Would rather have seen reviews from Philips monitors most could actually afford like the PHILIPS Evnia 34M1C5500VA and PHILIPS Evnia 32M1N5500VS. Not posh enough anymore for this channel 😁😆?
Exactly! I've been looking everywhere on the internet for information/reviews/opinions on the 34M1C5500VA but without success :(
Can't wait for a 38" OLED ultrawide or a 40" 4K. I had 34" Ultrawide from 2015-2021. I'm ready for the next level.
I just ordered the Alienware DWF for 900€, it will be my first oled monitor ever. I'm hyped :D
Hell ya dude. I gotta get up the courage. It's $900USD too.
Hows the monitor bro?
My Gigabyte M34WQ died today. So bought this, arriving tomorrow. It was £600. Bargain even if it ain't amazing
Down to 700bucks, still not buying eith gen 3 monitors around the corner.
Amazon has it now on Sale for £649 which I believe is by far the cheapest 34" OLED monitor
Looks like IPS monitor still the best choice for cleanest text to read. VA comes 2nd best for text reading.
@@MLWJ1993 Thats correct.
it is €900,- here in CE.
I love aesthetics of Evnia KB and Mouse, this dude also looks pretty good, not counting useless RGB stuff.
Where the f is my microLED? Its almost 2024 already. I think some top from AUOpt promised them in just few years, it was few years ago :)
MicroLEDs are damn near the endgame of monitors. They HAVE to let Oled and miniled moniters run its course first.
In Belgium it is on sale right now for €999
When I saw the price I drop the video , sorry but monitors that reach or pass from 1000 USD make no sense
This thing was about $500AUD off, picked it up, pretty awesome. I do have to say missing the RGB control seems odd. the sRGB mode feels a bit...'orange'/warm
£560 inc vat and delivery at the moment in the UK do you think its worth it now?
The design and the RGB evokes a lot of 80s-2000s aesthetics. Does overall evoke Y2K the most.
The difference to the other OLED monitors which has to be mentioned is the integrated KVM switch. In those days where Home Office is usual, the KVM switch is nearly a must have. And the price dropped to 899€ in Germany. Really thinking to get one.
did u buy it? How is the experience with KVM?
Assuming it's arrived by now, how are you finding it? I'm looking for a new monitor myself and this one's on my shortlist.
No all oleds are bad in general tech shouldnt cone into market. 20 years ago tgan siprano was wallking on this land thwre was same crap called plasma tvs. Only rich could afford tgem like soprano and it die similar speeds with plwbty of dead pixels on screen. Now makers ofbtrash made new name and releases similar crap which would suck money, guess what dead pixels are not warranty issue. You get dead pizels in mid screen you will go buy new as super rich every year. Now all tgis tech actually is trash va, ips, oled all inferior tech. Go grab a crt spweds arw instant, colors all insane, all you wanted, only problem weight. No ghosting no delay or fale ms . Instant picture ahh such avgoos times i need to find alice crt with 100hertz. Beck than few it away i was kis what did i done 😅 now imagine 30 years of development in crt dear god it would be 1000hertz already in huge screens and picture would be peeeerfwct
Honestly speaking, aren't they all the same?
Samsung G8 OLED, Alienware AW3423, MSI 342C, and now this one....
Just clones of each other in different clothes and badges.
Sorta, the same panel but different internals, testing equipment and calibration equipment. Its worth testing them as some might be marginally better for a similar price. Or just testing to make sure its not shit.
Everyone wants a nice aesthetic rear 😳
Suggestion, record these videos in HDR so those of us with HDR can see some of the possible differences?
Good shitt guys love the rewiews , mini led review soon? Perhaps
Can you cover the AOC Gaming U34G3XM monitor?
its the updatet AOC Gaming U34G2X i guess
Philips just re-released this monitor under the name M2C6500, 0 information about it, but its cheap as chips in Sweden right now. Issue is it seems to use the same panel as the MSI and Samsung G8, so Gen 1? Lol.
dunno but for me the 34m2c8600 rocks, 175 Hrz is enough, they never talk about bottlenecks...300, 400 hha.. :)
7:08 Are people modding their monitors with Noctua fans yet?
My guess is that these monitors use the most cheap of the cheapest fans from any brand, which we all know are loud.
Screen backlight almost does not appear in your video, did you put the monitor in frond of the wall or is there a distance between
Thank you for mentioning the hdr setting issue with amd gpu. I was thinking i go mad why i didn't got the hdr smartimage setting to enable. So, just need to switch off shortly vrr.
can you do a review for samsung s95c as monitor
Respectfully, these videos about the same QD-OLED panel are getting pretty stale. Can we look at something interesting like one of the new MiniLED options?
Would anyone recommend this over the Alienware aw3423dw for gaming?
Samsung G8 34 vs Philips 34M2C8600 ??
TL;DR - it's QD-OLED like any others, except worse and overpriced
Does it support VESA 100x100? I see it in the datasheet but from the pictures I do not see vesa mounts?
Can you review the Asus TUF Gaming VG27AC1A?? It looks like it's an updated version of the VG27AQ
When I saw the price I drop the video , sorry but monitors that reach or pass from 1000 USD make no sense
I am still waiting for glossy W-OLED 27 inch 240HZ monitor
Q:? I could not find a review on the: Asus TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A 28.0" 3840 x 2160 144 Hz (IPS) Monitor - Is Monitors Unboxed planning on reviewing this monitor? It seems like a great deal compared to others of similar quality.
Kind request to actually print the specs on screen instead of quick firing them off. Makes it very difficult to both remember and interpret the characteristics of a screen.
Hi, what about 45-49" OLED Monitors, have there a new product came out from other brands like Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 G95SC (49") model and will you test it? I think it is brighter then LG UltraGear 45GR95QE-B (45") in SDR mode becouse it use the QD-OLED panal. I read that LG is prepering 27" OLED 480 Hz monitor that will come out in 2025, is that true if you read about it and what are your thoghts about it?
27M2N8500 please! :)
I think you need to stop testing this panel. 5? that would be like 25% of your top list for last year.
Im waiting for Samsung Odyssey Ark review 😭😭
I'm anxiously waiting for 32" OLED monitors... Hopefully we'll get them soon!
32" 4K? Because that form factor looks wack in 1440p
@@syed2694 I have a 1440p 32" IPS panel that looks perfectly fine. I play competitive titles so more frames = more better. I currently have a 7900 xt and 7700x system and I'd be perfectly happy with 1440p to keep my very high frame rate but have better motion clarity and better contrast.
@syed2694 4k monitors is(unfortunately) not really practical, for any "high end" graphics intensive games....like all the coming unreal 5 engine based games. So, at least if your into cutting edge 3D graphics, 4k is not really ideal, before the graphics cards gets more powerful in terms of performance per watt! 🙂
@@billardon514 92 DPI is not fine.
@@danieljrgensen133 idk what you're arguing here but that was never my point.
Thank you for the detailed review.
Not gonna waste my time or sources for this half baked product.
The design is ugly and no VESA it seems. What a joke 👊
It has VESA 100x100 mount.
Does it come with a vesa adapter?
I could probably go the rest of 2023 and 2024 without seeing another Oled review. Still a thumbs up though.
Hey Tim, hi, how you doing?
Could you check out the
AOC Agon Pro AG276QZD
The last of the high end WOLED 27" QHD gaming monitors?
and the
Acer Predator X34 V
Acer's QD-OLED 34" UWQHD option. They (acer) have options in each category. Smart.
Funny, here in eastern Europe it's pretty much by far the cheapest of the Qd-Oleds
Bought this for just 550 Euros on the second hand market. What a steal!
Just recently picked up the Odyssey G8 based highly on your recommendation. I'm glad to see it's still at the top.
I did the same
It's literally the worst monitor in every test!
Did you read the part that said "lower is better" and then see the Samsung G8 had the highest number of every oled panel?
You just saw the Samsung with the higher numbers and thought that meant better, right?
trust me , i own 1080p , 2k philips., they all dead after two years . crazy
Philips monitors and TVs are the worst in terms of reliability.
Hands off!
I don't know if this is just a Canada thing, but MOST if not all those OLED / QD-OLED are never available around here on amazon or newegg....
I wish you were also reviewing QD-OLED TVs, like "TVs Unboxed". I'm considering buying a QD-OLED TV to use as a gaming monitor, but I don't know all the details, quirks or pros/cons...
Any news on the new firmware, did it resolve HDR issue mentioned?
Are we done with the OLEDs yet? miniLED exists too and will have more variance than these.
Its oled just go dwf for warranty and better overall experience.
How about a review of a new QHD monitor at 240hz that MSI launch a few days ago , maybe its good deal
I like seeing that music band video. It looks like none of those people have any idea what they are doing, while trying to look cool at the same time.
Phillips is good but you shouldn't buy because its not a Panasonic 😅
