Fantastic effort by young Dylan. I for one would like to see him stay with Powerlifting for a few more years. Wouldn't it be awesome to see him go 500, 300, 500.
@@apo75018 . . Then I'd still love to see him DL 455. I don't see that as being beyond the realm of possibility for a young man with Dylan's potential. That's only 100 pounds over what he's lifting now. If he can avoid injuries that 500 squat and 455 deadlift will definitely happen. 300 bench press? That lift takes years to really reach a lifters full potential. Dylan has those years. He's only 23. By age 30, I reckon he'll be benching close to 300 or maybe even more. As big as he is, he'll need more upper body size and more triceps size. That's the key to it.
@@arthurblackhistoric in the 450 seems reasonable given his potential (I just dont want to see Benni's WR fall ahah). 500 squat is doable too. For bench, if he sticks to full power I dont see 300 happening, if he came to train bench only on the other end... I hope to see him last, go for records, and not burn out or injure himself badly. Cause he's a true freak.
@@apo75018 . . Training the bench hard, while not neglecting the big lifts shouldn't be that hard for a guy with super potential. But you gotta do it right. 12-week cycle starting on a weight that'll allow at least 15 reps, go to failure on ONE all out set after a proper warm up first of course. Then go up five kilos a week until at the 12th week you're doing a new PR. Now, here's what makes it work: The one work set MUST be done to failure. That's if you train alone in a power rack. It becomes far more productive with a training partner. Get in the habit of letting your training partner know via a grunt or a nod or whatever if you don't think you're gonna make the next rep. This is crucial. If you actually fail and your partner has to help you finish the rep, make that the last rep of the set. But if done properly with a good understanding between lifter and spotter, you can go three reps beyond failure. Make sure the spotter/s let you lower the weight completely unassisted and only get them to help you raise the bar back up! The spotter/s should help you all the way up too. Not let you almost fail the reps, but not make it too easy nonetheless. It's the negative component of the exercise that develops strength. Do that with triceps exercises as well and buy new shirts! I used to get my long suffering wife to spot me on this type of program. Like I said: what's needed is a good understanding between lifter and spotter. If you avoid actually failing at a rep by asking for your spotter's help all the way up from the bottom to the completion of the lift, they really don't need to be Superman to help you. You only fail at the sticking point after all, so if you're being assisted through that point, your spotter . . in my cast my skinny wife . . only needs to lift ten pounds of so. Then you're both good to go for an extra two more reps after that. Failing at a limit rep is hard on the metabolism. Training into the negative zone is far less taxing if done the way I describe. Good form is essential. No need to cheat because we're building strength here. Every cheating move, like bouncing and heaving the bar off the chest, if done in training WILL cheat you of possible gains. Once we reach the pointy end of the 12-week cycle and the heavy set only produces four positive reps or less, take 20 kilos off the bar and do a back-off set. That'll see you end the exercise for the day with a good pump. Do I know what I'm talking about? 650, 400, 600 lifetime clean in IPF approved apparel. The 650 squat was done to legal depth in my gym with my wife, a national referee and my most ardent critic judging it from the side. The 400 bench was done touch and go with no lift off at home in my gym in a singlet and shorts. The 600 deadlift was done on an inch-and-a-quarter diameter bar, turned down on the ends to take my plates, AND using smaller diameter plates. I had to put the collars on wrong way round because the plates filled almost all the way out to the ends of the bar! Bodyweight 112kg. If anyone reading this tries my program, which works a treat for squats as well, please reply to this comment and let me know how you go. All the best, guys.

Amazing. 23 years of age but as strong as Thor? Thor dominates both Strongman and won the heaviest Untested Powerlifting class and he’s tied by a Junior. Imagine this guy at 29/30.
bjorneman No it’s true it’s just most of the strongest guys right now are like 28-32. Ray Williams (strongest power lifter tested or untested), Eddie Hall (strongest deadlifter and probably stronger than either Thor or Ray), Thor (strongest strongman) Licis, second strongest strongman in the world, Larry (who is 24) strongest bodybuilder and strongest 275 power lifter of all time). John Haack is around that age. Both Brett Gibbs and Russell Orhii are in their 20s and are the strongest tested lifters in the 83kg weight class. It’s similar for the women. They’re all 24-33 I believe. Bonica Brown, Chakera are young. Amanda and Daniella Melo are the strongest 84 kg women in untested and tested respectively probably of all time and are so young they are still juniors. Jennifer Thompson who has dominated her weight class for the last decade was just (finally) beaten by Calhoun who is in her late 20’s. I agree that they will be stronger than they are at 35-40 than 24-32 if they keep lifting but most of 1st/2nd place holders in strength events *right now* Are under 35. Of course there are plenty of lifters who are much older. Efferding has the third highest 275 class total set in his mid 40s and it was the record at the time. Shaw is over 35 now I believe. Hell most strong men are over 30 as are most IPF lifters from what I’ve seen. I was not dissing the 32+ group. There are more monsters there than the younger group.
