For some reason, I wish Dan had a segment of this about what HE would recommend for a client’s hair vs. what the client wants.
Don't you think Dan does often says if he thinks a style will suit the client and his hair better?

Hair looked good before and after. This young guy should be an actor, his face was so expressive throughout, reminded me of a young Ewan McGregor...
This is one of the rare times that I think the before haircut suited him better than the after.
The before was a much better look for that kid than what he got. He did ask for it though.
I disagree. He came in looking like he had a dust mop on his head or like a homeless drug addict.
He looked a thousand times better afterward. He's actually really cute. Once he got an actual GUYS haircut!

The longer hair did fit him better, but whatever makes him happy lol
He wanted his hair not to stick out when he worn a hat, and getting them tapered on the sides did the trick. Although the hair looked shorter after the haircut, it’d grow out beautifully and uniformly than before. 😊
This man truly is the epitome of a master barber. His consultation skills, the plethora of barbering techniques, his artistry in matching the best hairstyle for each client and his ability to teach the audience while doing his job are unbelievable. He's definitely the best barber on RUclips. Plus a likeable guy to boot!

If you look at the young man before having his hair done, and then compare it with his haircut results at the end of the video, he clearly went from simple to stylish. Such a nice taper going down the neck at the back. A very good improvement overall, although his original look was not bad.
I wouldn't say stylish. To me, it's just more complicated. And as is the case here, complicated doesn't mean better. A definite downgrade from his original look, even if he still looks fine.
@@peterspering3709 A "downgrade", wow. As for me it is not complicated; the new 'do is neater, more fashionable, more modern looking, and grown up. When I compare 0:01 to 21:20 in the video it's no contest. At first glance his hair appears rather casual and boyish ... but then our pro works his magic on the guy.
@@peterspering3709 Totally agree with you. Thing is, guys should not have that overstyled "female" blow-dry look, this is why he looked so much better and relaxed to begin with.

You take what it means to be a barber to a whole new level. Most barbers these days only do fades and don't know how to consult based on hair type/the way it grows, etc. I wish all barbers could be of this caliber

I think the client here just enjoyed the whole experiance, getting a haircut is such a nice ASMR vibe for myself, I've come so close to falling asleep lol I find it so relaxing!
He has very nice hair, and you gave him a great haircut. He seems quite happy with it, and it looks good on him (though I have to admit I liked the longer hair on him a lot).

I myself prefer the longer style I always have prefered hair longer thou, but the cut is absolutely flawless. If you like it shorter and smartened up, like the client clearly wanted, he did a fantastic job! Gotta give the barber props mate, he has done what the client instructed@@kiwizor9962

He looked so cute before, his longer curly hair fitted so much better to his beautiful face... As Dan meant before starting, you cannot expect the same haircut by showing other guys pictures!

The client would be cute with any haircut or no hair at all, lol. The client looked younger, more immature with his original cut, but more sophisticated and sleek and just a couple of years older with the results-- which looks fantastic. Great job.
I now have the haircut that the kid had before. But it’s funny that I went to numerous barbers trying to recreate Jeffs haircut showing the exact same pictures. Never came out looking exactly how I wanted.
I now have my hair just like he did in the beginning and it suits me better, just has it suited him.
I prefer the first look, he has amazing hair. Slightly blonder then mine.
I agree, the before suited him perfectly, just needed a bit cleaning up. It looked much more relaxed, now its just tidy and neat.

That longer style looks better. For him any haircut looks good anyway. I would grow in layers and not cut sides especially upper sides . take only from sideburns

To be honest I like his longer curls more. The haircut looks good, although I think it's a bit too low on the nape. I would have raised the hairline and tapered it up on the nape.

I read the comments first and was expecting the cut not to suit him but I think it’s looks super chic! He went from looking like a skate boarder to a movie star! Of course this kid could probably have his head shaved and still look great. Excellent work Dan (as usual).

Just my opinion but even though the hair looks better in the after video. The guy looks better before hand to me. Cause spiking his hair up makes his head look bigger and the flatter hair made his face more symmetrical and suited his features better. I think like a tidy up of his first hairstyle would have suited him more. He’s gorgeous though, don’t get me wrong.

From the front his face completely changed, made him look so much slimmer and younger. I liked his surfer style look previously but this is a different more smarter style so I think it depends on what you are going for. He is lucky, nice thick hair with curl and natural highlights..

This cut with his hair color and face shape reminds me a lot of James Dean in East of Eden. A cut I've always wanted but I have a diamond shape and doesn't work as well on me.

I do like this. It reminds an old guy like me of the early 1960s when my father put a hand full of brylcream in my hair and did a little Rock 'n ' Roll style with a quiff in the front.
