Lol I'm still excited for haunted castle cause it's the only 2d castlevania I haven't played. I saw a dream of Mike Matei playing it and it looked like bad fun.
The Neo Geo CD core is super impressive considering it's only been available for a little while. Also, a PC-FX core and/or an ODE would be killer. Awesome news!
An ODE would be a welcome addition to PC-FX. Due to the FMV formatting basically every brand of cd-r skips on playback. It’s really only original discs or nothing for PC-FX
I want Haunted Castle haha. With X68000, PC Engine CD, Famicom with expansion audio, MiSTer is already the best place to play the more rarefied games in the Castlevania series.
@Video Game Esoterica nice I love all your videos especially that you cover alot of consoles or arcade games that most don't talk about and one particular core I hope they make for mister is the PC 98 I think it is that it has a lot of shmups
Narc was the "Mortal Kombat" of drug busting back in the 80s. I played the shit out of it back in the day 7-Eleven used to host arcade machines at their convenient stores !
3DO/CD-I/Virtual Boy/FM Towns Marty (or a Towns 486 core)/Apple Pippin/Bandai Playdia/Casio Loopy (not saying some of these have to have cores, just saying it’s a list of consoles that exist that don’t currently have cores)
Oh, so glad you can use virtual memory cards with the PSX snac adapter now. It was easy enough to use slot 2 for saving virtually but not every game allowed it and I really didn't want to have to buy a memory card and multi-tap to save on all games, the snac adapter for PSX is chunky enough as it is.
I only mentioned Splatterhouse last month and now we’re getting it!! So, so awesome. Just need xexex at some point and my wish list is completed!!😂😏 Great month, great update, many thanks VGE.👌
@@VideoGameEsoterica I can't say. I have a cab which is a copy of the SNK Neo Candy 29'' cabinet. It's called the Super LS Sound 29. I bought it in 2004 and I didn't know much about cabinets at the time. The seller was offering a New Astro City cabinet and also a genuine 29'' Neo Candy. I bout the LS Sound because it was new and looked great. But, the wiring is really flimsy and the jamma connector failed very quickly. If I could go back in time, I'd buy either the New Astro City or the Neo Candy even having had some use. I had to learn to do the wiring myself. It's not really my thing. My wiring was OK (but not great) and I think the 3rd Strike board just reacted to it.
@@VideoGameEsoterica if there was a huge scene or I had a business I would. But $1500 minimum to drop for a game people in my region don't really like except me doesn't justify it
Exactly. I get the value but for that $$$ it has to be a very rare arcade board that’s not emulated and barely anyone knows exists for me to grab my wallet
Okay dude, Haunted Castle was already not standing on its own two feet before you started punching down at it. Yes, it's not a good Castlevania game. Yes, the US version is especially unfair with increased damage taken. And yes, it suffers from Konami's limited continuation idea for arcade games. But it's not all bad. The sprites are still nicely done and the details were probably interesting to see considering the franchise was still on the NES at this point. And the soundtrack has some original standouts that would make appearances again like Cross Your Heart, Basement Melodies, and Don't Wait Until Night. At least a little respect for what it brought. It's certainly not Castlevania for MS-DOS!
Robert is absolutely not working on a PSX based arcade core, I can confirm that much. He is not interested in arcade games at all. Which sucks because I would outright stab a dude for Aqua Rush.
I’m surprised nobody has looked into it yet. Maybe just due to the sheer number of variants in the hardware. Namco System 10/11/12, Capcom ZN1 and 2, Taito G-Net. Konami GV,GX and 256. And I probably forgot some!
Narc was just amazing graphically when it hit arcades. The medium resolution really makes the game pop.
Med resolution is a great format unless you are talking lightgun games...then its the bane of my existence!
@@VideoGameEsoterica Oh man, hahaha

And it's time. Finally joined your Patreon. May not watch all videos, to but I certainly enjoy the channel. TY for all you do.
And I have a soft spot for haunted castle.... The game SUX, but I do want to learn the Speedrun (hides)
Genuinely appreciate it
Haha I mean it’s a perfect speedrun game. You need to perfect remember all the suck to get past it!

Elevator Action would be super cool to have on the MiSTer.
It would be great to have more of the pre 84 classic coin-ups available on MiSTer.
People really love the 80s stuff. I wasn’t around for it so I have less of an attachment but I try to make sure it gets some love in the news videos
Thanks for the updates! Can't believe it's already the last Thursday of the month
Seriously I feel like I just released the Jan news episodes and here I am at February!

I mean I am always happy for new cores because even if I don’t like it, someone else does :) I just find Haunted Castle to be infuriating
PCFX games have a beautiful color palette.
The artwork is so good on stuff like Zenki and Team Innocent
Very good news!. CPS3 🤩👌Thanks for the video.
Happy to do it!
Great stuff. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
OMG. I'd love to see Namco System 12 cores for Tekken Tag Tournament and Soul Calibur.
So would I. Maybe one day
I played through Splatterhouse recently on my Switch, and yeah, it is a classic!
100%. That and Night Slashers are legendarily good horror beat em ups
Nice I have always wanted to play zenki on pcfx hopefully that core get made well
I really hope it will. Now I want to revisit the PC-FX in one long 30 minute video like I did for the FM Towns Marty like a month ago

finally some really good stuff coming
Shaping up to be a great 2023
Whoah the PCFX looks rad! That game Zenky looks so awesome
It’s a ton of fun. Check my PC-FX playlist. I have a full review :)
Had to sneak in some Puzzle Bobble music didn't you! 😂
Always!

I didn’t grow up with 7-11 so this is the first I am hearing of this

haha getting there!
Talking about Robert’s new core, I would love it to be 3DO

It's a fantasy but sometimes i think it would be cool to play new games on CPS3. ¿What's this hardware compared to a old PC?. Greetings! 😉👋
Without any functional SDK it would be a heavy lift to develop for it
@@VideoGameEsotericaI guess so. Thanks for your answer 😉

No one has ever sufficiently emulated 3rd strike so that it feels as responsive as an arcade board so this is just enormous.
And the boards are $$$$$ now

I loved the talk about it at the time though, like as if it was GTA and super "adult" so just added to the mystique of it
It was mortal Kombat before it existed
