Good Morning Cara, I was pleased RUclips offered your video to me this morning. I was very impressed with your pattern choices as well as your skill level. I occasionally watch sewing tutorials but don't find many that I subscribe to.I primarily view Knitting Tutorials. The reason is most sewed garments look hohum and reflect a 'loving hands made at home look' that I don't want to waste my time watching. But for a change, a home sewer with sophisticated pattern selection, and your garments actually look like you could have purchased them ready made at a department store. I really liked the Atelier Jupe pattern company you introduced and the Grace jacket was so fab! The dark green trousers are also a hit! You look like you are going to step right onto the yacht and sail away! I am a skilled seamstress & trained patternmaker but decided to pursue a career in the electronics industry due to the fabulous wages and benefits which allowed me to remain in the San Francisco Bay Area. Otherwise I would've had to move to LA or the East Coast and I just couldn't bring myself to relocate from this wonderful area. But I have maintained my love of fashion, sewing & knitting in my retirement, so like to see what other devotees are up to. Anyhow, thanks for your brilliant RUclips, I will be watching other episodes from you now as a subscriber. Very best, Carrie from the San Francisco Bay Area.😍💐🌞🧵🪡🧶🍵
Hi Carrie, it's lovely to hear from you, you're very kind with your comments, thank you, made my day! Gosh it sounds like you have lots of interests to keep you busy. Thank you for letting me know your thoughts
@@sosewmad true, however, we have already more than doubled our average for the month of April so I would gladly send some to other areas where it is needed more.
So many wins! Cara. I wish I could pop over and have coffee/tea with you in your summer house. I recently cut a pair of pants on the cross grain and I did not have the same success as you. The bottom half of the legs are all twisted. I am cutting them off at the knees and make a skirt out of it.
Those pants couldn't fit you any more perfect! They look amazing! In the cooler months you could put a black long sleeve high neck (turtle neck) top on under the start top to wear with your pants! That bias cut skirt OMG how gorgeous!! This could be your holiday outfit for this coming Christmas! Great job once again Cara!!!
@@sosewmad in the middle of the Pattern Fitting 101:Demistifying Fit Head to Toe course with Whitney of TomKat Stitchery. Since March 20th we've fitted a woven top, knit top, knit pants and now going into woven pants! It's great learning new techniques for alterations prior to cutting the fabric! I've also got a Claibourne Top that I've made into a dress on the sewing machine right now.
Another amazing vlog Cara, love everything you do, I'm so inspired, I have just been to the Maison Fauve website and bought myself La Robe Transat sewing kit in the beautiful coral, and there are many more I wish to buy, so thank you so much for introducing me to this lovely pattern company, your Templin trousers look amazing, the fabric colour really suits the trousers and you! looking forward to your next vlog xx
Oh I love all your makes. I have just found Maison Fuave, and I absolutely love them, think I have ordered 6 new patterns 😂. Will have a look at your other patterns, love that blouse. Thank you. Xx
Hi Cara, enjoyed your content as usual. I really appreciate your go for it style😃. I love a bias cut skirt. My first one was a happy accident, I had a bias cut dress that didn’t fit well, so I cut off the bottom of the dress, added a casing for elastic and hemmed with self bias tape. I love it in the summer, cool and comfy, in the winter I wear it with tights and boots. Of course I had to make another one. They are both made from a rayon challis. As you said such an easy satisfying make. I wear them both a lot. The red jacket is gorgeous!!!! Happy sewing💜
wow I would love to make those trousers, you have done a sterling job. You are so inspirational. Love your review of the French patterns. It is very exciting to find something a bit different. I love the popular indy patterns, but honestly find them a bit samey Love your channel. X
OMG, those cargo pants are STUNNING CARA! 😍 I’m itching to get started on some new projects when I get home from my holiday. It’s time to get out of my comfort zone now 😅 Have a great day 💞
Your makes are amazing. You really do go for it Cara. I do a lot of procrastinating! I was so pleased to hear that you cut out your patterns as I loathe tracing and always cut out. I wish I did trace ,as these patterns cost so much now but it puts me off starting. I’ve had to trace some patterns as made them for my daughters in laws but it’s not something I want to do. The red jacket looks so complicated. With trousers I’m always concerned about the fit. You are such an inspiration 😊
Thank you so much Ruth, definitely just go for it. You'll never know unless you try. Honestly I feel the same way about trousers, and it's true, they don't always work out, but I use that as part of the experience. Embrace it and not fear it. Soooo rarely do I scrap a project
Fabulous makes, Cara! The trousers and jacket are amazing. I like the changes you made to the Honey blouse. It really shows off the lovely fabric. When sewing with pdf patterns, do you have them printed at a copy shop? I don't trace patterns either. It's cut out and sew for me. Thanks for sharing Maison Fauve. I checked out their website and youtube channel. The videos are so clear and detailed, I could follow without subtitles or knowing French.
Hi Laura, thank you, I go for the print at home then use a glue stick, never takes very long to do. I'm glad u like Maison Fauve, there are some amazing patterns!
Great makes especially the cargo trousers 😍 I made a similar pair last year and couldn’t believe how much I wore then so will definitely look at that pattern you used
I just bought two patterns from. Maison Fauve….a jacket and a lovely dress. Great designs but yet to make. I’m looking forward to it. Do you have any idea where to find the finished measurements?
Hi Jan, in the Tremplin trousers they're in a table near to the original measurements? I'm afraid I'm not sure about the other patterns, you could message them on Instagram and ask, they've been so responsive to my questions so far ☺️
@@sosewmad thanks Cara! They did come back to me. Apparently the jacket measurements will be in the booklet but the dress ( zenith) is one of their older designs and they are not quoted so I’ll have to toile. Thanks for responding!
Just LOVE those pants! I went to check out that pattern and found it's paper only - what???? I'm in the US and avoid shipping from overseas, plus I want the versatility of a pdf. Do you know if they have plans for a pdf version?
Hi, I learnt yesterday that PDFs will follow on later, I'm not certain in what timescale but rest assured they'll be available at some point. Hopefully they'll be expanding their supplier chain soon to include the USA. I'm not certain on this I'm afraid but the PDFs will come soon
Cara I need your advice, I'm wanting to cut my pattern out but unsure which size to do. My hips are 44inches/112cm and my waist 38inch/96.5cm. I'm going to make a toile first
Hi Debbie, check the finished measurements and go from that, I could have sized down 2 sizes from my original as it is quite oversized. It's a lovely jacket, have fun
@@sosewmad Hi your a star getting back to me, I will do that thank you, Just finding my measurements aren't in the chart so ill have a good read and take my time, lets hope my toile turns out fab, and then I can buy some lovely fabric to make the final pair 🙂
